In this video, we give this pair of Ferragamo loafers a makeover. A customer asked us to do a complete refurbishment on his shoes, so that's what we did. With new English-made Dainite rubber soles, a little leather sanding, and a dye job, this pair ended up looking...GOOD!

Hey guys, this pair of shoes really came out much better that they were. The sanding was necessary for shoes to get another chance in life. Excellent work, you guys are second to none. Thank you for sharing.

Decades long leather workers here. Free hint. To get the richest looking black - dye your leather brown first and then dye black. Try it! Love your videos.

Yes! A nice coat of black leather dye (Kelly’s or Zoe’s) will give it that deep color. I didn’t know about the brown dye first - interesting!

Beautiful job, I just restored my 30 pound weights. They said " throw them away". I thought how can I throw these away, when they have helped me grow so much. I decided to restore them and now theyre better than when I got them over 10 years ago. It's not a shoe/boot but I related to restoring something that meant more to me than money.

Is the Blake welt (8:30) more for aesthetics? I don't see its functionality being glued on without stitching to hold the sole.

It is for aesthetics really. It keeps the shoe a little slimmer and it’s usually used on more dressy classy shoes. I’m not sure if it’s less secure than a Goodyear welt, but a Blake stitch isn’t used a whole lot of work boots

Hello Trenton, Greetings from India. Where is Heath? I have been regular viewer of your weekly videos and I have got few queries. I am not a cobbler by profession so pardon me if my question seems to be dumb. 1. Why did not you use cork filling in this pair of shoes. 2. Don't they use shank in loafers.
@jacobbwalters8133
@jacobbwalters8133 2 года назад
I can answer these questions for you. There was not a cavity to fill as there is on a Goodyear welted pair of shoes so there was no need for cork. Not all shoes have a shank- loafers are perhaps the least likely to have one because they are supposed to be sort of light, casual, and comfy.

“Well loved”? Not even “loving neglect” is appropriate for these poor guys. Since this is a fashion brand the construction is usually suspect anyway. “Your mission, Trent should you decide to accept is to resurrect this DOA pair” And that you did. I’m amazed at the outcome. I’m sure the owner is walking away happy. I just wonder if he recognizes what a **** he was in caring for these shoes. I know you have to be diplomatic with your customers, but this one must of been particularly trying. Well done, Trent!

No doubt their work is of the highest caliber. That kind of ability and care doesn't usually come cheap.Recently a local guy quoted me a price for a cowboy boot resole that came very close to the price of a new pair. Six months earlier another guy quoted me half of the second guy's quote. . He must have regretted his estimate because after six months he had not even started the work. After being promised and disappointed and two more wasted trips across town I reclaimed my unrepaired boots( which I believe is just what he wanted me to do) . Too bad I don't live near Tennessee
