My first 308 GT4 was bought in 1985 and my second in 1986, as it was a better car. That first one bought from a “friend” needed £32,000 spending on it. Do get a pre-purchase inspection on what you buy. Often essential maintenance is deferred. On my second 308 GT4 I owned it until tax problems forced its sale in 1990 but I bought it back in 1992! The car was wonderful. Great handling & the only downside being some tendency to wander a speed. My third 308 GT4 was bought whilst out shopping for a Mondial 3.4 in 2000. It was a too low mileage car with 19,000 on from 1981! The car was bought at a Ferrari Main dealer & looked fantastic. We went on a trip to Monaco. The tyres and car stayed in Lucerne on the way back as 19 year old tyres whilst looking like new all wore down to their cords! Buying a low mileage car is useless. It cost thousands in suspension and engine work due to lack of use. I did buy a 3.4 Mondial after but now drive a Mondial 3.2, why? Well the 3.4 engine has to come out to service it! Each year! Big money. The 3.2 stays in. I’d buy another 308GT4 if I had the money or if they reduced a bit!
It's grown on me. I prefer the Sharp Bertone styling to Pininfarina's Mondial. And although the gtb is much slinkier I might prefer this as one to drive regularly.
Its funny in the 70s 8+.something 0 to 60 was a quick car, now its seems these numbers are almost nothing, and it was only those top super cars that hit that 130 to 150+ mph, or most anyway, infact ,if you had anythng that would hit about 125 and a bit,mph it was regared as a bloody fast motor. nowaday days a 2ltr CDI Skoda estates can top 150 mph mad isn't it. How teck has moved on...............
