Another Steve's amateur ( A MATE U R ) garage video. Can the amateur mechanic replace the rear shock absorber and spring. Restoration and maintenance of the classic cars, MG TF, VW camper van and Ferrari 360.
Follow the ups and downs of classic car and supercar ownership.
Ferrari 360 first drive after F1 gearbox fix, can we fix it? You will hear the Ferrari 360 start up, and run up through the gearbox.
Possibly the most beautiful car produced by Ferrari over the recent years, the test drive always creates attention wherever it go’s.
Can not wait for Spring and the chance to drive it again, to a show or meeting with fellow classic car enthusiasts.
The car is not concourse but it is presentable and received a bodywork refresh and a good clean, with a bit of sunshine it looks great.
Jobs to be done, clean up more sticky switches, replace the hood and replace the brake fluid. The speedometer also reads 20mph out so we will need the remove the instrument biblical and adjust the needle.

Ive heard of titanium ball joints which last for years - have you considered them at all - for eventual replacements 🤔

Hi Karl, Yes, my ball joints were replaced about three years ago with Hill Engineering ball joints, they are much better than the originals and not had any knocking so far. Regards Steve

Just wondering if bowling the rubber booth in water would work

Hi Yes, a spell in a bowl of hot water first would have helped make it more pliable, good point. Regards Steve

Appreciate the video. I have a 360 and need to replace the shock absorber bushings (Silent Blocks on top, bushings on the bottom). Are they pressed in? If so, can they be carefully "tapped" into place with a socket that fits over the end of the bushing? Also, are they cemented with Hysol epoxy? Lastly, must the spring be compressed to remove the shock absorber from the car? Thanks.

Hi, Many thanks for your comment, most appreciated. Firstly the shock absorbers can be removed from the car without compressing the spring. I have not replaced any Silent blocks or the bottom bush, but the workshop manual says push them out with a press, no mention of glue to reassemble. Ball joints yes, glued back into place. Hope that helps and good luck with the job. Regards Steve
