Simple answer to your question, wait till you've driven the Pista before you start this thinking process. Don't be like Salomondrin who dismisses a new Ferrari without a real world reason to do so because of a childish and ridiculous Ferrari shaped chip on his shoulder. Don't judge a car on paper, they are not driven on paper.

IMO, You absolutely nailed the whole Ferrari sprinkle dust analogy JWW. Part of why they can charge marginally more against their competitors. When it comes to sound, the Italians have it figured out.

I think you are spot on with your thought process on this and thankfully you are one person who buys his cars to drive and are not all about resale as a lot of RU-vidrs are. I personally think you answered your own question, if the Pista is more exciting and sounds good, it will be worth it, if it doesn’t then it isn’t, it’s that simple. Also, I understand the changing of your cars gets viewers excited and therefore maybe worth doing but in all honesty, for me the content and production quality has taken your channel beyond the normal and the cars are only a part of what you do well so hopefully I am not alone in saying, whatever you decide the channel will always be incredible 👍🇮🇪

Of course not. The 488 pista will just be one in a long list of "special turbocharged Ferraris" whereas the 458 speciale will become an icon for sure. Imo, would be a bad move from an investment or "smiles per gallon" perspective. Don't think that you need to be convinced tho! As always, great vid mate!

Another tip to not miss a video on your subs; Don't have your subscriptions feed in grid view. Change it back to the old list view. Then the videos are listed 1 after the other down the page as it used to be, before youtube decided they wanted to change grid view to the default. Of course ding the bell aswell!

Long time watcher first time commenter. I’ve been lucky enough to have owned many super cars and nothing compares to the magic of a naturally aspirated Ferrari. I nearly "pista" my pants when I first saw the Ferrari 488 Pista. :) To me the Pista is the best looking 458/488 model to date.

Driving your car in the snow instead of making it a garage queen, that's why this is such a great channel.

I think the Pista looks absolutely incredible but I'd keep the Spéciale purely because of that engine!

Naturally aspirated is great for noise and linear power acceleration but I love my 650S coupe as it is exciting in a different way. I have full faith in Ferrari to make the 488 Pista a great drivers car. Let’s face it, they made the 458 Speciale!

I’ve been in both and honestly, 458 any day of the week. No V8 beats that naturally aspirated sound of the 458. It’s heaven. The car is so classy too, definitely going to own one some day

Absolutely I agree with you, the feel and emotion are far, far more important than the numbers. Being lucky enough to drive a 599 GTO and a 458 Speciale, the feel those cars give is far more important than their ultimate performance. Its about theatre, there is only so much you can use on the road. For me the 458 Speciale is just incredible.

You're absolutely right about the smiles per gallon thing. I'm actually planning on reducing my GT's power, when getting my new engine, simply because the car has become too capable for public roads. Sometimes less power means more fun and more theatre!

Oh, I’m certain that Ferrari has made an absolutely incredible driver’s car with the Pista. That’s their thing, right? That’s what Ferrari does best: make amazing cars that feel so bloody good to drive, and give the driver an emotional experience that they can’t explain. The Pista will knock it out of the park, guaranteed. Keep the Speciale, though, she’s a keeper. And on my hopes for this years Geneva? Mate, I don’t even know how to answer that, really. I’m hilariously excited for essentially everything there. Geneva is like, the Comic Con of car shows; just an absolutely incredible experience all around.
