You know what’s weird? I prefer the second one too. However, when it comes to the 458 and 488, I prefer saying “four five eight” and “four eight eight” rather than “four fifty eight” and “four eighty eight”. I think it’s because F12 is pronounced how it is spelt. If people and myself called the F12 “the F one two” then I think I probably would’ve called the 812 “the eight one two” as well. Hopefully this comment isn’t too confusing
TDF for me if I have to choose. Saw this TDF of yours in person a couple of years ago at Beaulieu car show, looks amazing in the flesh, esp in yellow. 👌👍
The TDF is a very handsome design, but, no I would not own one, shattered nerves and constant fear, a car made for roads that don't commonly exist. The 812, though less beautiful is the smarter more satisfying choice.
Thanks for another great video guys. My personal impression of the two is pretty much similar to yours. I felt the TDF required 110% of my concentration 110% of the time, demanding total respect at all times, whereas the 812 just felt safe but ballistically quick and just perfect at the same time. Only ever driven a TDF once tho. Id still rather have a TDF.
No smashed windows this time 👌🏻 what an awesome garage to be able to produce content with, I prefer the 812 just for being a tad more ‘subtle’ and modern
Absolutely love both cars but if I had to choose one then I would take the 812 Superfast. That is the perfect GT car. Stunning looks, more than enough power, superb handling and fast like a rocket.
Great video, it's an eight / twelve by the way, 8 for 800 PS/ HP [ not BHP ] and 12 for the cylinders, I get it wrong as well sometimes! You forgot to mention the best change on the steering wheel, the horn position, thank god it changed, I can now use it if I need it! In the F12 by the time I had found the right place on the rim to press it, the problem had gone away.
Well worth waiting for chaps,, TDF all the way , the ultra limited connoisseur's choice for me and that lairy colour just enhances it even more. Probably my favourite ferrari for all round hooning and street usability . Jealous muchly . 👏👏👏
Not really a fair comparison...a better comparison would would be the regular Ferrari F12 against 812 Superfast. The Ferrari F12 TDF is a specialized limited production model...the Ferrari 812 Superfast is not a limited production model. Thats like comparing the Ferrari 458 Speciale to the Ferrari 488 GTB...when it should be compared to the new Ferrari 488 Pista. I understand Ferrari has not come out yet with a higher performance limited production model of the 812 Superfast...but still not a true comparison. Also considering price a used Ferrari F12 TDF is approaching $1.5 million U.S. dollars you could buy 3 or more Ferrari 812 Superfast's for that some amount of coin!
How I wish you had bought a GT2RS and had done a TDF against that? I lay a tenner though that across country a GT4 would stay with you in those mega ferrari's 😜
@@theknowlodge8294 actually your wrong, I own a Cayman S gen 1 and I know just how awesome this car is, so give me the keys to a GT4 any day, its a car you can actually use and not a car you wish you could use.
f12 from fornt looks better 812 from back looks better with tail lights but f12 looks better back end all round f12 sounds better f12 is better f12 f12 f12
This was A FANTASTIC video. I've watched A LOT of these"comparison" videos, but this was the first time, ever, that I was so impressed that I just HAD to leave a comment. My very, very, first comment on one of these videos. I've seen the TDF at my local"Cars & Coffee", never seen the other car, in the flesh. Never sat in either one of them, obviously, and probably never will. But, thanks to you guys I feel like I have a very good idea of what it's like to drive/experience these amazing, unbelievable, vehicles. In between the jokes and casual banter, you (BOTH of you) still manage to somehow convey to the audience what's it's like to drive them, AND what it's like to be a passenger. Obviously you've done other comparison videos, and those have been great as well. But this one was really special. Well done!!
Its all these pinanfarina fanboys. They cant accept change. Im in love with ferraris new design language. 812, f8 tributo. Just imagine what the laf succesor will look like!
The beautiful yellow Tdf grabs your eyeballs and screams look at me look at me. Then tries to kill you. The 812 is a Ferrari to want, but is it going to set your hair or heart on fire. Maybe not. Decisions for those with the cash to decide. Cheers.
I could not possibly have hit the "like" button hard enough on this video. And I'm not even a big Ferrari fanboy but this video may have changed it for me.
Another classic. Love the way you can make it seem quite ‘normal’ that you can compare your TDF with the latest and greatest Ferrari GT car.......few could do this in such a casual and engaging way. Love it !
@@TheCarGuysTV ...Well i'm not sure it's going to be nice Damian...a lot of money has been sunk into the car market since the credit crunch and the collapse of other asset classes....the amount of limited number productions from the recognised supercar manufacturers have been crazy... but the thirst from buyers was huge....hence these enormous premiums ....but if you look at these examples second hand now they are simply not shifting unless they are priced ridiculously low... that includes the beautiful TDF. Some of the 918's have shed more than 250k in 12 months and the Senna's are simply not being bought not even at cost circa 850k... one or two are being advertised with no miles around 675K and they too are sticking... there are lots of examples.... I think the car market is in for a big correction ...the premium end is no longer liquid.... i can see many cancelled orders in the pipeline too.... you are smart....you have a great collection and i think you have bought for pleasure over money.....99.99% of cars lose money and that will be the case moving forward...
Brilliant video guys.. I think I much prefer the 812 all round but that tdf wow, your two lucky chaps.. maybe one day we can get a enzo and la Ferrari comparison hahaha 👍🏻
Oh man where to I start? Great video but mic both of you up in the car as Jason as passenger especially , was hard to hear over the road & engine noise. It’s hard to compare these but I’d take either if I ever had the opportunity. TDF is iconic and always will be but like you say as a starting point the 812 is way ahead of anything else with awesome styling. I actually prefer the back end of the 812. Shame it does not scream out of those pipes compared to the tdf. I would just relish the opportunity to see either of these cars close up yet alone be in one. Loving the weekly videos. TGI - TFI!!! ( I will let you use that one 😉😂) Thanks for taking the time to produce these for us all to enjoy.
1:38 - check out that panel misalignment on the 812 ! I'm sure the excuse is "handmade" (I still want one...) (EDIT - its appears to be a "feature" as other pics online show the same misalignment)
12:47-12:52 All you need to know about this comparison right there. lol Fantastic review. Really enjoyed that. Let's be honest. Either of these Ferrari's would be an absolute dream in anyone's garage. But the F12 TDF. Wow. One for the ages.
Great vid as usual thanks guys! very interesting conclusions. Seems the 812 is perhaps more usable but feels less special than the TDF as the 812 is not trying to kill you like the TDF...lol. Personally going back to an older vid of yours I feel that the TDF is going to age or become redundant very quickly especially when they produce a 812 TDF and hence lose its special status and possible value. I would suggest as I have before that perhaps you sell the TDF and go for your dream of a 288 GTO for the garage as that is an iconic car and will never be replace whereas I feel the TDF will become redundant in as the 812 is pretty much the same car and now more powerful and controllable . Sorry guys I just love the 288 GTO and in my opinion the best looking Ferrari ever and if I ever had the means to own one then I would need to scratch that itch at least once whilst I'm alive. On a financial scale I believe TDF's might suffer a fall soon whereas the 288 GTO will probably never lose its value.
I take the F12 TDF all day everyday. It has 5XX engine components, I love the aero and it's lighter than the 812 plus it's a racecar for the road. The 812 is a super GT car you can bring on the track. Not a fair comparison but a good video nonetheless, thank you.
Was in a dealer last week walked by two 812 4 cars apart and even noticed them , they were blue n black just blended in for me tdf yellow all the way , f12 has more presence than 812 in dull colours very colour sensitive, always good honest content guys pleasure to watch 👍
You really give us a good sense of how is to drive the best GT currently available for sale so we can understand of how far the level of performance and handling has moved on. This is great.
Absolutely fantastic!! I can understand that you could be considering selling the TDF especially because you have a 812 arriving soon but as use say theirs absolutely nothing like the TDF!! I personally think that the TDF will be as lusted after as the 250 GTO is today. Are you selling? 🇮🇹 💪 ✌️ 👌 🤜 👊
Hi guys. Does anyone know where this video is filmed. I am hiring an M5 Comp pack on Wednesday and would love to give it a go on the roads in the video. Any help gratefully received.
The TDF just looks cleaner, especially at the rear. Which is surprising considering that it's the special model. The single tail lights are the biggest draw card for the F12 over the 812, if it wasn't for the ugly tail lights I would be really looking forward to the 812 special edition.
Best gt car..... I'd argue the Bentley Continental gt would take that title. In fact I'd argue the 812 isn't really a gt car at all... Just a more liveable sportscar.
what a great review, a real first!! on the internet I think, or magazine for that matter, so well done, Jason I go with you, but we are splitting hairs here, I think it would be impossible to not own either and totally enjoy them differently. My personal dream car is still very much the F12... doubt I will get round to it, because unless you spec these cars heavily in Carbon Fibre I find them all a little cheap looking and feeling in materials with the silver grey Fiat plastics...inside, poor electrics and hit and miss paint finish... everything else I love... general looks, engine, driving...
Brilliant video guys and amazing to directly compare the two cars. I personally would prefer the Tdf with its nervy handling and rawness of its driving experience..
if I had one of those Ferraris.,guaranteed I've been walking in 2 months.,I would be banned and lose my licence., all cars should had the indicators on the steering wheel awesome
