What a beautiful car this is, I had no prior knowledge of ATS but I'm seriously impressed with the design, they put it to Enzo in a big way . You can see where the Dino came.
I really enjoyed your video really well presented spot on👍 I have never heard of this car before, absolutely stunning design as well as all the engineering ideas and firsts ! I will now be on a quest to find a car show that's going to feature one (I hope) only 12 made according to uncle google ! So glad I subbed this one was a gem.
Phenom vid chief! I know about all sorts of rare cars, but ya got me on this one! I had no idea the ATS existed. What a smashing little car. And that 0-60 time was superb for that era. Wow!
Glad you liked the video! I agree it was a really awesome car and a bit of a Rocketship for the day, its just a shame they never got a chance to make other versions
Absolutely gorgeous car...but they sure didn't help themselves by naming it "ATS". (wtf 😂) Thats the most un-Italian name you could possibly think of. Oh...and they needed to make a roadster or at least a ragtop. For someone talented enough to make a replica....I'm sure there's a solid handful of big check writers out there. 🏁
I'll take one! Wonder if it had a better name than ATS if it woulda helped. Names like Ferrari or Jaguar have much more selling power I'd think. Great video, thanks!
Ok... so another great episode... but... we didn't get the SOUND of that 8000 rpm 2.5 V8... now a question... there was another ATS F1 team racing in the mid to late 70s.... does that ATS have anything to do with the ATS you describe in the video? And what about ATS wheels?
What kills me is the exact point you made. Pedigree. What can pedigree matter when the result is staring you in the face? It makes absolutely no sense that they were not fabulously successful. The car is fast, stunning and innovative. You have to shake your head in wonder at how people think. When faced with what is clearly a beautiful, capable sports GT the public decides in its wisdom to ignore it.
I wish that you wouldn't make videos about cars that I want. They're expensive enough as is, and the fewer people who actually know that they exist, the better.
Oh my god, this is the most beautiful car I have ever seen in my life. And I include the Lamborghini Miura SV in that high accolade, too. Bellisimo machina! ;)
(1) Ferrari allowing his wife to run the business and the race team was a bad idea (2) confronting Mrs. Ferrari by going to Enzo was a bad idea (3) leaving as a creative team en masse from Ferrari was a bad idea (4) creating a new car company and F1 team without proper financial backing was a bad idea (5) Phil Hill joining ATS was a bad idea. I think that wraps it up.
Great doc, I believe ATS mistake was trying to build a separate race car to try to compete. If they would have just focused on the 2500, they may have had the finances to survive. However, they didn't fail for lack of a great product.
Thank you! Yeah they really were spread pretty thin, using another engine (maybe a buick 215 V8) might have also been smart to save on development costs because creating your own engine is VERY pricey lol
I would make a replica of that. Steel aluminum carbon fiber it doesn't matter. I would put a voodoo in one for those who understand that flat plane vibe
Finally a car on one of these documentaries that i havn't heard of, what a car this is, it's stunning to look at and i'm sure they run nice. If this was their first effort i can't imagine how good the cars could have become.
So did Enzo design his own Engines .....NO.......Did he design his own Bodies........NO, then why the Hell do they give him so much respect......Even the Prancing Horse Motif was stolen.
Huh? Ferrari engines were designed by Ferrari employees (Giachino Colombo, Aurelio Lampredi, then Rocchi, Chiti etc etc), .. it's like saying Chev engines are borrowed because they weren't designed by Louis Chevrolet. Most Italian car bodies from all manufacturers - Fiat, Alfa, Lancia etc, were designed by styling houses, just the way it was and is there. What an uneducated comment.
