Katrine Dalkin they're so playful, sweet, and cute. The unit vicious about them is when they want to play and but a little hard, or want out if their cage.
I have a ferret, he is the opposite of vicious, he doesn't bite often, and when he does, he bites gently, to where it doesn't hurt, he is my baby, he means the world to me, I couldn't live without him.
Sitrus the depressed bean I have a couple of mink. They have a reputation of being vicious, but if tamed they are gentle as well. They bite a lot but only playfully
Ya, those canine teeth aren't for eating carrots... ferrets are obligate carnivores like cats... they can only digest meat protein... they can't digest fruits or vegetables.
Ferrets are carnivores like cats wild ones hunt and eat mice voles birds rabbits etc.... They need to eat whole prey the bones the organs even the fur.
6 months ago we bought a fabric squeaky duck for our ferret. Thought she liked it.....Thought she was playing. Today she showed us she DOES NOT like it , and she relentlessly attacked whomever squeaked it. Namely me. She tore me up today. And she never bites ...UNTIL today with the squeaky duck. So word of caution with some squeaky toys and some ferrets. She now associates me with "bad". So I have to win her back. Just a word of advice and caution.
I have had 2 female ferrets that were like this. it is squeaky toy aggression. The best explanation is they are trying to protect the toy, as she thinks you are hurting it. My 2 would run up and attack the dog if the dog was making the squeaky toy squeak. There is one advantage to this. If they ever wondered off or hid and were in deep sleep the squeaky toy would drive them out so we can find them.
After watching this I don't feel weird about keeping rats in my freezer. Course they are for my 8.3 long red tailed boa. My ferrets get their own treats!
Oh my goodness!!🧡🧡 Two Wardy ferrets!! Wardys are the best ferrets! I have 3 and I akin it to the equivalent of having ADHD with a sense of wackiness. Wardys are special in their own right.
I really miss my waardies. I have 6 ferrets still. But no waardies. They are special ferrets in many ways. Videos and pictures are all I have left of them.
@@MarkSavides they are special indeed! And I very much understand and empathize with you missing them. They dig little holes of love in your heart and never leave. I lost my boy Smeagol who was a Wardy and bonded to me. I love my other 7 ferret kids but still miss my special boy everyday.
I have a Waardy, and what you said is so true. He was awkward, clumsy and shy as a kitt, but now he's on equal turf with the others. He also gives tons of puppy kisses. He's partly deaf, but has no problem hearing when I shake the treat jar.
My girl is always catching her own mice...it makes me nervous because I don't know if those mice might have parasites or have gotten into some poison, but she won't be deterred. XD
If you give it to them out the cage they will hide it and you will find stinky mouse parts growing fur under all your furniture. Mine get neat in the cage
Tink Smith mine used to steal bananas and potatoes and hide them all over the house, especially inside the furniture (like our expensive leather couch lol).... something would start to smell and we would have to turn over all the furniture to find the rotten produce...
Carnivorous mammals always tend to be adorable and I never understood why.... All I know is, we couldn't live without them.... No seriously, we REALLY can't live without them, they play a huge part in our ecosystem.
If you have a shed, you might consider leaving food in it to attract live mice which your ferrets could then hunt. And if one's house or apartment has mice- definitely get a pair of ferrets.
Maybe but the difference is I’m pretty sure these are feeder mice telling by the white coat color which is a lot safer cause you know where your getting them from and it’s a less of a risk of your animal contracting a disease. Also not to mention if other houses near you use rat poison which can pass onto then ferrets.
I’m trying to get my ferrets to eat while prey and it’s a piece of work. My male ferret, Momo, is just about there. However, the girls are picky. One of those will eat meat almost as much as Momo. The youngest does when she wants to, but at least she will still eat meat. Lola is a piece of work!🤣😂
Most ferrets will eat in a corner because it's part of their natural instinct. They would hunt their prey and bring it back to their den. Mine get kibble and if they're both awake, they'll take pieces one at a time to different corners and once they have a pile they'll munch away. But if one is sleeping the other will just eat straight from the bowl.
Even though I own a mouse myself and owned multiple mice in my life, thus video is really cute in my opinion. I understand that a lot of animals (including ferrets) are predators, but that doesn't mean I hate rodents (I actually love rodents; especially mice)!
Do note that ferrets are connivers and they are lactose and tolerances. Meaning they can't eat or drink any that is made by milk unless it's lactose free milk.
They would always take it into their carrier to eat them. They were prized possessions to them so they would always eat them in their carrier as the others would try and steal them if they did not. The bulk of their feedings was in their cage where they would stash them for later.
Mice on ice are good for them, since they hunt mice in the wild. the also need other foods too. I feed mine rabbit. I get it from the organic butcher store.
This is so cute and but I have a ferret she is the smartest and cheekyiest bugger and then I have two rats and then one off them is a real Billie when I let then around the house to play my baby Cath, the ferret came back bloody, and my little white rat likes to best up on all the other animals, anyways my point being, my ferret would not stuff with my rats as she's been thought her lession but when they take off with the mice and it reminds me off Katherine and she runs off when I give her snacks 😂😂 so cute
my ferrets never cared for the norway rats, they just did not care for the taste of them, but I would never give them live norway rats, as the can defend themselves and cause damage to the ferrets. I gave them ASF rats and they liked them. all other whole prey they were fed were prekill. as the ferrets got older they lost their ability of performing a quick clean kill and from then on they were always fed prekill.
Do. Your. Homework!!! Ferrets for Dummies book is the best place to start. They suffer if alone, so get 2 or at best 3. And I cannot stress this enough....have a $1000 + emergency fund. When they get sick, they get sick FAST. And Vet bills are EXPEN$IVE!!!!!!! Learn from my fail.
Yes, but some don't eat the Tail, some eat the tail. If you give them to many they will just eat the heads off all of them and leave the bodies until they are hungry again
my 3 jill's have ate flies before, seriously haha i was in the shed with them as usual n i killed these flies, before i could get rid of them the ferrets come close & take off with em n started eating them lol
No. Strictly Carnivorous. They shouldn't* eat fruits or veggies. Although mine loved to steal a bite of banana. And famously, my Milkshake was found shoulders deep in my OATMEAL.....as I was watching a vid on how they are only meat eaters...sigh..... *While they LOVE it, and go to great lengths to steal it...other foods give them diarrhea. They just can't digest it.
@@yukiiasakii9758 yep they cant eat any type of fruit or vegetables they just cant digest it but they can eat chicken eggs, quail eggs and other eggs like emu i believe.
you need to start feeding them live mice. ferret's don't get mice out of fridges in the wild. It's in their blood it's instinct they would prefer over a mouse out of the fridge not moving.
Ferrets don’t live in the wild and if you fed your ferret a live mouse the mouse could attack and hurt the ferret. I recommend feeding them dead mice so they don’t get injured it’s just too risky
Lol. These people never heard of a black footed ferret I guess. And I've seen a video of wild baby ferrets once. People also train ferrets to hunt...so to say ferrets can't is wrong. Just depends on how you raise them. My fat lazy ferrets definitely couldn't at instinct haha. Maybe the baby I have since he's still spunky and ready to bite, but not my older ones who are very much acclimated to domestic life.lol.
I get your point, but these ferrets were not raised to hunt in the wild. This guy already did a good job transitioning his ferrets from kibble to raw meat
@@ihaa_ there isn't a pet ferrets aren't wild animals hunting ferrets were bred from the pole cat then hunting ferret were bred to hunt rabbits then bred to be house pets
Carnivores need more than what proccessed foods can give. They need heart and organs. Also fur and skin help push things along. They need bone as well. Those things are not found in human baby food.
Alana Churchill what's the difference between mice and chicken. They are both living creatures. These mice haven't been processed like baby food so they are better for them
