Here are my two ferrets, Scarla (black) and Freddy (white), just playing around! -------- R.I.P. Freddy and Scarla. The music belongs to Kyle Gabler, composer of the soundtrack for the independent video game "World of Goo".
My friend had 2 ferrets, and when I stayed at his place, I woke up with one ferret sleeping in my pant leg, and the other sleeping on my chest, was like wtffff...
Ferrets really are just pure joy.... if they aren't sleeping then they are running around dancing crazy jumping up and down playing making funny noises.... being a ferret must be a good life :).
@@ceedoda well it could be that he is old. Older ferrets play less than younger ones. The problem is you can't easily tell their age other than with their upper canine teeth.
Crimey M YOU don't understand. Rats are actually very clean, intelligent and loving pets. Saying a ferret has the best qualities of a rat is a HUGE compliment.
Sorry everybody, for not ever commenting or answering questions. I wanted to let everyone know that 7 year old Scarla (the black/white ferret) has now passed away as well. She decided to pay Freddy a permanent visit in animal heaven. To clarify. Freddy (white ferret) passed away due to age and arthritis back in 2011. This is why he didn't stay out very long to play in this video. He was an old ferret we decided to put down as the vet visits and medication made him more and more miserable and nearly immobile. We couldn't let him suffer any longer so after one final visit at the vet, we ended up burying him in the backyard of the house. Scarla's passing was a bit of an unfortunate incident as she managed to escape the house. Her partial blindness certainly did not help find her way back (she also became an elder ferret with signs of her body giving up just like Freddy). After a number of days of searching, we figured she was gone forever. Accidents like this, even in a fully ferret-proof house, can still happen. We're just glad that both Freddy and Scarla lived a very happy ferret life with tons of love, care, lots of playtime and many RU-vid fans to root them on! We thank you for all the support and love you've given us and the ferrets over the years. It still amazes me how a simple ferret video could get so much attention!
awww Im sooo sorry. Yall seemed to have given these 2 marvelous creatures an awesome life on earth. We will be getting one from our local pet boutique soon (i think i can talk him into getting 2 though). One white and black and white like yours :) Thanks for this video!!
I used to live in California and I wanted one one so badly, but you can go out of state and buy one and bring it back to california and it's not illegal! The states that they are illegal in are: Washington DC *not really a state*, New York, Hawaii, and California.
World of Goo music?!?!? That just made my day. And it fits them so well! When you were dragging Scarla around with the octopus toy it reminded me of when my ferret would randomly drag our mop all around the house for no reason at all. Hahaha. And how even when we put a stool in front of it, our ferret managed to open the rag drawer, use it to climb into the bread drawer and eat all our bread. He was definitely a little mischief maker! Oh the stories I could tell... R.I.P. Smithers. We miss you.
eh not really. there are a lot of key differences between ferrets and cats ferrets tend to be a lot more wild, they are harder to house train and their diet is a hell of a lot stricter. also they sleep a lot more than cats only being awake for about 8 hours per day
We have had several ferrets since 1994 and we just love them! They each have their own unique personality! We have had a couple of really good "climbers"! Mostly ferrets like to get into "trouble"! i.e. behavior that humans don't like. Such as stealing doilys, books, eyeglasses and such and hiding this stuff! And digging into houseplants, biting electrical cords, etc. You gotta keep on top of these critters!
This made me cry. i had three ferrets Molly, Tupac, and Paris. Molly was a light brown/white, Tupac was dark brown/white, and Paris was all white. they passed a few years ago but i still miss them alot. Tupac would always run around breathing in an out really fast making sniffing sound xDD (i dont know how to explain it) and he would just hop around making that noise and then out of no where he would run and jump and bite your leg LOL. Molly and Paris would always steal my little sisters binkis. They would also steal little bounsy balls and hide them in the cabnets (we have a hole under our cabnet and they were able to go into and hide things). I miss them so much and im trying to talk my parents into letting me get another ferret.
TOO... CUTE!!!!!! There really are no words strong enough to describe how ADORABLE these little fellows are- I just lose it when I see their constant playfulness.
Thank you for taking the time to film this with the music. I had to put my ferret to sleep a week ago unexpectedly. He was 7 1/2 and I was with him when he died. He was loved for 7 1/2 years and it broke my heart. He looked just like your sable ferret. Thanks again for the video it brought me joy.
I had one but he kept biting and was sorta... not tame.. he was getting to grips with us and his new surroundings but my mum gave him to other people. she said " did you not see the way it was running around sniffing everything?? Its a wild animal!" I wish she would have give him a longer chance. I miss him, even if it was for a day and a half. He always climbed on my shoulder and followed me when i called him into another room :(
ilovemeganjohnston she definitely could give it more time. of course it runs around and nibs and sniffs everything, it's new environment, just have to get familiar to it.
They absolutely don't mind being pet, but at the same time they're not exactly lap animals (like a cat) - though, once ferrets get older, they tend to become a little more mellow/calm, which can potentially make it easier to keep a ferret on your lap (to pet) without it trying to squirm its way off. They always just want to play!
Very sorry for your loss Dutchley. Read of their passing after watching whole video. It was for sure one of the best ferret videos I've seen. Only those who have owned ferrets can truly empathize with what the loss is like. Rest assured your fuzzies are no longer in pain and await you across the Rainbow Bridge. You gave them a great life and are the only one who needs to know it. They were lucky to have you
I remember the day I got my first(now dead)ferret. Apparently a ferret was walking around our neighborhood and my mom decided to take it in. Later, my mom picked me up from somewhere(I can't remember) and took me shopping for ferret food. Since I was gone from home I wasn't aware that she got the ferret so I was really happy to have another pet and since I never saw or had that much knowledge on ferrets, I was excited to learn more about them. Once we were done shopping, my mom took me into the basement to see the ferret. It was in a box and when my mom took the lid off, a little white ferret stared at me and I stared back. My mom wanted me to hold it for some reason(Still can't remember). Then after being informed that the ferret was a girl,I named her Amy(After Amy Rose because I was playing Sonic heros at the time and that was the first thing that popped in my head). I then learned how smelly ferrets are. Then a few days later my mom built Amy a cage from a bookshelf we weren't using. It had a top floor for her to sleep in and a staircase to the bottom so she could poop and eat. Now the sad part. Amy died due to one or more of three things. 1. She died due to old age(I guess she was old since she didn't play) 2. She died due to falling out her cage.( We had a cabinet like door to change out her blankets) or 3. Amy died due to sickness( We couldn't take her to the vet since we're poor) Amy, like I said before was a white female ferret and she wasn't playful. She was friendly but if she was scared she would poop on you. She was a good playmate with my kittens, Rabbid, who's name used to be Cream, And Coffee. For some reason, Rabbid and Coffee loved Amy. Probably because of how calm she was. She was a good ferret. I'm glad my mom took her in, otherwise she might of been dead a week later.
BRU SAME! I remember i used to have one because like 10 years ago, my mom heard scratching on our front door so she opened it and kept it. I miss that little guy.
At that time i would also always play sonic on the gamecube haha! A little dumb but i got excited when i read your paragraph. It reminded me of my childhood because it was almost exactly alike.
One time my gf ferret got came up missing and we looked everywhere to see if we could find his butt and come to find out he was sleeping under the refrigerator
I have a ferret named Chompper we might have to put him down or a $400 for a operation he might not live through so please pray for us. God loves you .
For the longest time I couldn't figure out how Freddy always escaped (into the outdoors). Turns out he would somehow disconnect the vent/air hose from our dryer. That way he was able to crawl up into the tube and escape! :D Since then I've kept the laundry room closed. They're clever little buggers.
As you could see in the video, he was very old and wasn't doing very well anymore. He was taken to the vet on a number of occasions but eventually we decided to put him down so he would no longer have to suffer (from arthritis and a couple of other small problems). He lived a good long ferret life. He used to be just like Scarla, jumping around, going crazy :)
Justin Regalado Ferrets really don't have much of an odor, the only part that smells about them is their poop, which makes the cage smell if it isn't cleaned frequently enough. They have a very light musky odor to them, but it is no worse than the odor of a small rodent, a rabbit, etc. Frankly, I think dogs smell terrible, especially compared to ferrets ;p.
best 3 1/2 minutes of cuteness! i love how they have soo much room to play. i cant stand when people have them caged in a small cage all day everyday !
I have a teacher who once had two little ferrets who looked exactly like those two ferrets on your video. My teacher would always bring her pet ferrets to middle school and their names were Bobo and Patches. Their cuteness would always brighten up my day every time I was working hard in class and I even got to play with one of them back then. Sadly, those two cute little ferrets passed away before I even moved onto high school. RIP Bobo and Patches, you ferrets were adorable back while sticking your tongues out inside of your cages. I'll never forget you.
We adopted an old, abandoned, ferret a year ago. Best decision ever. She sleeps most of the time, but I often wonder wht she must have been like when she was young!
Recreation Studios i had 2 rats also, one was an all white one with red eyes called cookie, and one had black eyes and was black and white, called her oreo. They were amazing, but sadly they passed away.
hehehe, what a pair of cuties! when the owner plays with the brown one I can hear him trying to suppress his laughter when the ferret does something incredibly adorable :P
this really touched my heart cause last year in nov my ferret ran away. he really was my best friend and i hope he found a new home. i will always love u dash
Thank you, oh my God it was bothering the hell out of me what it was from. I knew it was from a game and I was losing my mind trying to figure out what it was
I want a ferret so bad but my mom says that they are disgusting rodents and they're like snakes with fur and she never even listens to what I have to say and it makes me really upset
Lena Costello. i understand getting moms & dads to listen is really hard some times so here's what I did when my mom said that birds are flying demons. i showed her a video of them playing with each other but I didn't tell her what it was i just said hey mom look at this oh but make sure it's at the cutesiest part of the video and she said i could have one for my birthday. success! Yay!. Anyway you should try it out (p.s. my mom also talked me into getting a ferret the same way but it still works)
I'm so sorry for your loss. I've experienced something similar with two dwarf hamsters. One died of old age, the other (they were twins) escaped and I found her dead after she'd tried to get into her cage again, but on the wrong side, with no opening and therefore got stuck in the water bottle-hole. I just cried when realizing I had killed her with my attempt to lure her back into her cage (if she were in fact alive) and she in her despair and probably confusion and dehydration, had tried to get into her cage in the opposite side of the opening.
I have one ferret and he does both. If we're at work, we put him in his cage (it's about 2x2x5 ft). When my family is home, we let him run around the house. As long as you play with them and interact with them for a good amount EVERY DAY, please, they'll be fun, energetic, and happy. Make sure they have toys in their cage, plenty of food, water, and comfy things to sleep on though. Ferrets are very mischievous and curious little pets, and they'll become depressed without stimuli.
Just came across this video. I've owned ferrets and love ferrets. They are such cute and mischievous pets. I'm so glad I came across this video and had the chance to enjoy watching Scarla and Freddy. RIP cuties
They can fit EVERYWHERE, so you really have to ferret proof the house or they will go missing when they crawl into a cupboard and fall asleep, then poop there when they wake up. So either contain them to a room (only if you play with the every day, they need attention and play) or make sure to crawl on the ground and plug everything up. They also like to eat stuff, so nothing they can bite apart but not digest.
They're not "Dirty" in fact they are incredibly clean animals. Not "smelly" either when compared to cats. You can Always tell a "cat" persons house with that awful odor that never seems to go away. If you get a female ferret..they are not "smelly" at all ..a slight musky odor but that's all.
Paul Austin Trust me, I've tried telling her that time and time again and she still says "NO! They ARE dirty and they DO smell!" She said she had a friend one time that had ferrets and apparently she didn't take good care of them cause they were smelly and dirty so I guess that just ruined my mom's opinion on ferrets.
JessiJay16 That's kind of weird.I mean if you had a dog or cat and didn't look after it properly it would soon get smelly and dirty? It's a real shame :(( Ferrets are amazingly intelligent creatures. Far more than a cat or dog believe me..they also get astonishingly affectionate toward their owners. I got one for my son when he was ...oh 8 or so I guess? Not once ever did it bite. He used to cause a bit of a stir around with it, when he took it for walks in its ferret harness and lead.
I'm sorry that happens to you, about your chinchilla. But there's a very high chance your neighbors ferret was not cared for the right way, not handled enough or trained. Ferrets have been domesticated since like 250 B.C. and are a domestic human bread ancestor of the polecat. I've never experienced, read or seen accounts of ferrets who are naturally aggressive killers.
Funny how they bounce like kittens. I'm sorry to hear that Freddie died recently. I just lost my dog of 10+ years and still wake up thinking of what he's going to need before I go to or after I come home from work. Their sweet character is so endearing.
What's abusive? Ferrets can be roughhoused with, despite their size. And they're only illegal to own in specific areas (certain States in the US), not where I live.
a stupid ferret killed my chinchilla, he ran away from his apartment and got into my apartment, and killed my pet ( I didn't know my neighbors had one) and shat all over the place, it was the worst day ever. they had to put him down, which is not what I wanted, but I still don't understand how people can have such dangerous animals around? don't they need a licence? what if it was my baby who got attacked? they are not safe, please let your neighbors know you have a wild predator living in your house, if you ever get one!
How did the ferret get into your apartment? How long was the ferret in your apartment to ( shat all over the place ) as you say it? Do you need a license to own a chinchilla? Which one is the most dangerous animal chinchilla or ferret? Which one is a wild predator any way? I only have A Ferret myself and I love ferrets!!! By the way my ferret does not smell bad at all to me. I like the way she smells.
A ferret should have never gotten into your apartment if you had had it properly locked. As for the ferret, ferrets are naturally carnivorous by nature, and their wild ancestors, the polecat, eat rodents in the wild. So, I'm very sorry for the loss of your chinchilla, but one, the ferret was doing what nature intended it to do, and two, if your enclosure to your chinchilla had been fool proof, the ferret shouldn't have been able to get in in the first place. My ferrets are in a cage when they are not awake and there is no way that they can get out. It sounds like there were several things that led to this incident that were not all the fault of the ferret, so before you blame the ferret you should look at the situation and do a little research on the animals themselves and their bonds with people. They're wonderful pets.
Rebecca Little not need to be a fucking jerk! my child just lost its pet due to a ferret! you want to ask him which one is most dangerous? he got to our apartment while we were bringing the groceries in, we left the door open, and had no idea that our neighbors had such animal, we left the house for other purposes, we get back and we encountered this tragedy. don't give a fuck if your ferret smells good, you are the kind of person that would probably defend a criminal, hope your neighbors get a wild cat so that it can eat that little disgusting rat of yours.
I had a ferret. He was one mischievous fellow. He used to crawl into my dresser and steal all my socks and try to sleep in my underwear drawer. After he died we were still finding socks in places were he hid them. I miss him. I hope to see him over that Rainbow bridge one day. RIP.
I love these little guys! Had 4 of my own and was a shelter mom to many others. When they play, it's like watching a bunch of wet noodles in a ball. The weasle war dance is the epitomy of happy feet...
