I'm glad that we will at least have the definitive version of the Journey. Sucks that we won't have the Answer because an improved version of the Answer is mainly what I wanted out of a P3 remake.
To be fair though, The Answer would need a complete rework, both in its gameplay loop and narratively, to align with ATLUS' modern vision for the series. So I totally get why it's not part of the (initial) release.
It's particularly interesting how there's conversation about the UI and graphic design. It tells you a lot about the amazing style the Persona franchise has when people debate about the looks of menus and colour themes
It also tells you a lot about how spoiled and entitled they are. "One small detail I don't like? Get out of here with this trash game!" This is why I hate mainstream fandoms.
@@-penta-1357 I would'nt call them spoiled per se, it's just that for three games the UI has been a strong point both in functionality and in presentation, i remember when i discovered persona thanks to vanilla P4, one of the things that caught my attention was the TV UI. As stupid as it seems, these little details matter because it's the soul and personality of each game.
@@-penta-1357 sorry but I don't agree with ya. As a graphic designer, the aesthetics and motion design of every menu and UI option sticks in my head. Compared to other games, Persona has a whoooole lotta flashy flair to it, adds themes to the game's stories, makes basic things like checking stats and equipment very pleasing and fun and it's part of the brand identity! It's why every P5 game has the signature red comic book effects, why every P4 game has warm yellow tones with 60FPS zigzags, how P3 has a heavy use of both Blue (for the MC and the melancholy of death) and Green (the dark hour) People clock on to the small details you know, and it makes it very interesting to see what people like/don't like about the remake's UI
yeah and from what I've seen of re fantazio it's definitely going over into atlus' other projects. even tokyo mirage session, which is a game i didnt like, monark, and caligula effect-- both games had ex atlus employees that worked on persona-- had some pretty interesting visuals.
The one thing that worries me is whether or not it retains the original games' physical damage properties (slash, crush, and pierce) or if it uses P5's (melee and ranged).
IMO, the FeMC content would help add some replayability (outside of some post-game content like secret fights and trying to do a perfect run with all confidants), but I do think that the quality of life changes and some new stuff that they do add will make up for that. Looking forward to other news they put out.
as someone whos' main experience with the game is P3P, I'm sad FeMC won't be in the game but it's certainly not a dealbreaker. P3 is one of my favorites and I'm sure I'll enjoy the game no matter what.
FeMC was introduced just to give a fresh experience anyways but she unexpectedly became a fan favorite especially for females.. for obvious reasons so a lot of the female fanbase is mad
persona 3 is a great game and im glad it will have many new fans with this release, but if you find you really enjoyed the game after you complete it, i would definitely recommend loading up an emulator to play through the content in The Answer. playing The Answer does not require an existing save file so you can start straight from there and play immediately. if emulation isn't possible just checking out the story beats through youtube is worth it i think (or if you just don't want to play it, the gameplay is kind of a slog).
Exactly. Tbh I didn't like the answer. And that's coming from a persona 3 fan lol. The Answer adds to the story but I prefer the main game ending where it just ends there.
Personally Im not upset at the content itself, Im more mad that ATLUS will probably do an ATLUS and rerelease this game more than once which is IMO very scummy since it is a waste of money for the fans and it will inevetebly make the previous version of the game obsolete, I would know, I own both versions of Persona 5 plus Scramble/Strikers
I like the new UI, for me it has the perfect balance, it is not as stylish and in-your-face as P5 and it is not as simple as the original game it's in between the two. I get why some people think it hurts the dark vibe of the game, but personally for me it just adds more to it, the water aesthetic is so pleasent to the eyes, that pause menu man... *chef kiss*
There are two things from P5’s battle system that I really hope for, and that’s baton passes, which was the big reason I thought P5’s combat was so fun, and technical hits, which make difficult mini-bosses much more manageable *if* you understand the game
UI looks fire, but my nitpick is the battle UI is too simplified, i know the circle roll a bit and looks like you're reloading a revolver, but it just feels too simplified, atleast add something to make it not just a blank blue circle with 4 button prompts on it
I don't mind the changes to this game, I don't mind the female protagonist not being in this game. I just want "the answer" to be added and still be cannon to this game. And I also want aigus to still have her social link. Edit: I meant social link, not confidant. Sorry, I fixed it
@@ramkindalethal732 1: Actually enabling the compendium in the answer (im really not sure why it wasn't usable in the original, like you'd think this would be a no go considering the entire epilogue is focused on combat) 2: Add weapon synthesis, ableit changed so that instead of waiting for some days you instead pay to get the weapon done 3: Change Metis's skill set slightly so that she's more useful People are going "uhhh change the story dumb dumb" when the core issue with the Answer, in my eyes, is that its a campaign focused on combat in a _Persona_ game, where combat usually only works when combined with the social sim elements.
Think I'm personally okay without FeMC or The Answer. I'm just glad that we get the good stuff from FES in there. I'm SO excited to see what they decide to implement in!
@@ms.pirate If this is a true remake then I am curious how they will do the ending. Because there're spin off games that continue off from the answer. They most likely will have to make the side games non canon then.
Can anyone give me a link to this interview? I'm still curious as to the veracity of the FES content. Like the Aigis social link and the Elizabeth quests. Is it really true that only the answer will be left out?
As someone who only played the fes version and was really looking forward to playing the FeMC route but don't wanna play the portable version, it's really disappointing that there's no FeMC after years of waiting for the remake :'|
@@flacoargentino1939 My thoughts exactly. This game is just the vanilla version. If we get an "enhanced" version afterwards, there is a chance they add the female protagonist in some way
I'm pretty disappointed, too... But there may be two situations that we fans would be put in: 1. As many mentioned, the FES and PORTABLE female protagonist features COULD be DLC. 2. The release of Portable on all consoles might be as close we can get 😓 I guess we can only hope situation 1 is what we'll get, but who knows
I would really appreciate if they ditch the procedural aspect of Tartarus and gave us less floors, but all of them handmade. Like, 150 floors, maybe, all handmade and expanded. After P5 palaces, I don’t think I can wire my mind back to enjoy procedurally generated floors.
@@UniqueHandles Mementos is way simpler than Tartarus, and for the purpose of sidequests that you do alongside the big boy handcrafted palaces, it’s a very welcome change of pace. But to have the main attraction of the game be 264 floors of procedurally generated layouts… especially after we experienced some very fine game design in the handcrafted palaces… I don’t know if I can go back to that. I respect if you can, but I guess that P5 spoiled me.
UI is underwhelming, at least for me personally. It look like it tried so hard to be P5. Too casual for a game with this tone, especially with how S.E.E.S was formed VS how the thieves was formed (the former is a formal group made by the Kirijo Co. to combat shadow whilst the latter is just like P4 in terms of how casual their group is formed)
it's like they just mashed the old p3 UI with p5, they should have just taken the aesthetic of p3 into consideration and given the p3 UI its own flare. i'm a little sad the transitions aren't as fancy as p5. people are saying p3 is minimalistic, but if you look at the opening for the original p3, I think the aesthetic is just as stylish. honestly the UI looks like an after thought...
@@cybelleeee1467 IKR! I honestly wouldn't call P3 minimalistic as it had its own flair of flavor. If I had to put it into word, I'd say it's a bit tech-y? Urban? It was very city-centric if I had to put it into word. IDK how to convey it properly tho so sorry if that confuses you more 😭
@@hemera5518 dww! i think it's pretty graphic (at least the og opening), but not in the way p5 is. p5 focuses more on graphic design meets jazz meets thief. almost in a cowboy bebop way, but updated to be more modern. I think p3 is more 2005 graphic design (at least the opening) meets anime. Its a little weird because soejima also decides to paint the characters in a rendered style for the original promo art.... but p3 definitely has a lot more y2k incorporated into it.
I think the biggest thing I'm concerned about is regarding the UI and lighting, which is that P3 had this sort of drab and noir sort of vibe while P3 Reload has this sort of vibrancy that I'm not sure I totally dig
Same here. They made it look all light-hearted. I also can't understand why they decided to italicize some of the texts. And what the hell's with that water theme
@@zxserenade I’m disappointed more so by the fact that Tartarus looks way less unsettling than it did in the original. It’s too bright in there, doesn’t give the same feeling of unease as before.
p3 was not a "dark" game until the last couple of months of the story. You were walking around with happy music, rainbows and sunshine every day during the first half of the game, seriously where do you see the "noir" in this game?
@@krokuke sincerely, I'd urge you to check and make sure you got the right disc/ROM because I'm convinced you played a different game if you think it was filled with "happy music, rainbows, and sunshine".
I'm fine with no FemC being in the game because she's not canon anyway, but I would like her to be in a way that isn't just her being girl Minato. I'd love if she got her own story that isn't Minato's but could still be linked to the overall story of 3. However, I think it's a massive downer that The Answer won't be included in the game as it's canon to the story and the only way to experience it is for people to go play FES, which some are reluctant to do because of the lack of party controls.
The Answer was admittedly a mixed bag with a mixed legacy. I didn't mind the story personally, but it wasn't the most fun to play with the high difficulty and no social links. If they want to redo it that's fine with me, though I hesitate about how much I'm willing to pay for it. I wasn't planning on playing the FeMC route anyways so I'll live with that, but I agree how disappointing it is for her fans. As for the new voice actors, some of the ones from the original weren't great but others like Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt are people I'm not sure the game can work without. I'll just file that under wait and see.
Personally, I like the UI purely from a practicality standpoint. Having Persona and Item menus tied to a button rather than having to cycle through 6 inputs is a small change that made P5 feel snappier, so I love that change. Visually though, I like it, it doesn't bother me, but I do like OG P3's better.
Ok, Now I'm confused. Cause i saw someone from another video say that it was confirmed that no Fes content will be on it. But this video says otherwise? So what's the real truth about the Fes content?
FES content was JUST confirmed today in an article. News is always being updated and always changing so don't be surprised when something is said but is later changed. Regardless, FES content HAS been confirmed. Just not the Answer.
This is the perfect time to make the defenative version of the game. Not having fes and portable content remade is a BIG detractor for me. I already have fes and portable, I've already played them multiple times. The main problem is there is no perfect version of the game. This is a chance to change that. AND THEY'RE NOT DOING IT. I have gamepass and will eventually check it out, but I'm not pining for it day one.
I think "The Answer" will be released as a paid DLC. Plus it's understandable that there's no FeMC. The only way we could play as her if Atlus releases a Persona 3 Reload;IF game
It's hilarious to see people flip 180 with this type of news. Yesterday there was a lot of outrage and a lot of "nobody will buy this" lol. I was glad to see a remake at all. If people really want to make Atlus listen, then don't buy it. But we all know that's not happening. Their business model is downstream of consumer activity. P5 and P5 Royal gave them the best selling title, it would not surprise me at all to see additional content in a later P3 version, and for us to be ecstatic about it too.
@@Eizlan13 Never said anything about developers or anything just a joke - Atlus made great games with even better expansions - best company in the world, Atlus remakes one of them without an expansion - Very bad decision, Atlus announced that their "no Fes and Portable" statement were a pile of crap and they are actually including the expansion - Atlus make a great recovery
Honestly, I'm not sad that The Answer isn't included. As much as I liked the challenge and the idea of explaining what happened after the main game, I did NOT like what it did with the characters, especially Yukari. I know she has her detractors, but as much as I like her, I could not stand her AT ALL in The Answer. She was being so bitchy!
I absolutely love how the UI looks. It fits the style of what persona 3 was and I don't know why some people can't understand that unless they just haven't played the original game or fes.
The only thing about the UI that I disliked was the display of the buttons, it’s just bland blue. In the original it was that revolver thing, it looked pretty cool and it fit the motif of the game with the way they awaken their personas being with a shot in the head.
@@MarceloZ2 I see what you're talking about. I actually thought that was better than the old revolver one. It still acts like a revolver but it's more subtle. That's just me though it's a welcomed change in my book but I do love how the old one felt. I'm curious how the persona skills tab will look I don't think we saw that in the trailer right?
hmm I've played p3 on the ps2 and I think it's kinda ugly..? i think the UI of p3 works well with the graphics and art style back then. but then they tried to combine that style with soejimas new style and it doesn't work. i think if they were going to change the style they should have gone all or nothing. either stick to the original style or change it, while paying homage with the details. the UI is clunky and weird and it makes me wonder if this is the same visdev team that worked on persona 5....
@@aloox395 yeah, the persona tab wasn’t shown. But I would bet it being along the lines of that gorgeous pause menu, similar to how P5’s persona tab follows the general design of the pause menu.
@@cybelleeee1467 that's true. Looking at it more now I don't like how the buttons looks but I love how the blue parts look on the character and the spinning circle like a revolver.
Thank you for keeping us up to date and being so concise with the news! I'm hoping for a revamped version of the Answer but will be OK without it. I hope we get the ability to swap party members in and out during battle or at least from the menu while exploring Tartarus.
I hope all characters will have their own Character Finish after and All Out Attack like in P5, instead of the traditional Could effect. Even if it's done in a pace more fitting to P3 (as P5 was meant to be fast and flashy, that wouldn't really fit P3)
To be honest, i never played "the answer". I remember youtubing it or something but i didnt give 2 shits about it. I could care less about people being upset about it. I hear it wasnt even good(perhaps why it was left out?) Seems like people just romanticized aigis in their imaginations so much when they were younger that its triggering them now or something i dunno...
instasub also regarding the UI - I love it! some people say it's persona 5 ui but the same people get a hissy fit when any other game is compared to P5 so like make up your mind LOL
I don't think there will be baton passes, since they're not the PTs, and their dynamic as a team is not as riley as the PTs do. Technical hits are fine, since it's less relevant to the settings of the series as a whole Maybe they would come up with something that makes them S.E.E.S. in the first place
I dont know what to think about this game I would if they gave us Portable instead of FES because of the remake but the remake wont have the answer and it looks like it wont have animated cutscenes to
I hope that this isn't the final UI that we get as the original had a lot of symbolism stuck to the game and it would really suck to lose it for a shitty Persona 5ish UI
My oppinion on the ui- i love the look of out the out of battle ui, the water theme is very nice to look at. Currently the police store menue looks ok, definately a bit of an outlier to the look (but then again, that was the case with certain stores in p4 and 5). The battle ui looks meh, too simplified for my taste, i much prefer the old revolver cylinder design.
I was initially torn that The Answer and femc aren’t gonna be in this game, because I was hoping for a “definitive” version of P3. After thinking about more though, I’ve come to be fine with the Journey itself being remade. The Answer was kind of a one time thing for me because of how grindy it is, and how controversial the added story is. I like the extra story, but it’s definitely not necessary to enjoy a modern Persona 3. I also don’t think femc is at all required for a good Persona 3 experience. It maybe true that I’m not a diehard femc fan or anything, but I think it’s better for Makoto/Minato to have the entire spotlight for a remake like this. I think keeping femc as a p3p exclusive is alright with me since they did just port it to every console. Makoto/Minato is definitely the main protagonist of Persona 3, and I think it’s honestly better to just bring him into the remake. Honestly though, no matter what Atlus does to this remake, no matter how high the quality ends up being, I’m still gonna buy and this game.
i like the moon style but i wish that they would make it actually look like a moon and not a blue circle. the little crescent moon thats where the command text is the only real giveaway that its supposed to look like a moon and the basic blue for the actual buttons looks really ass
I don't know if the Answer will be there but I bet Social Links will be overhauled so you can actually build them with the teammates as you get them like P4 or P5 cause it always felt weird you couldn't do that before. Plus maybe adding perks along with those social links.
In regards to the UI, I absolutely adore it. It looks really dynamic and stylish, which is exactly what I liked about P5's UI, but it still looks like it has its own identity :)
The Aigis S Link will be in the remake tho. Like they said, the added features and contents from FES and Portable will also be in the remake, except The Answer and FEMC route
leave it to ign to put out a fake news article making the whole community freak out. well there is still no femc but really the big deal was them claiming no fes content. really good to hear thats not the case
Ui -wise, they could have done a lot more stylish stuff. It's a difficult one, since P3 was pretty minimalistic in that regard compared to P5. They did incorporate that style in the main menu though, which some people do find not fitting for P3 and too much P5 like. I personally like it. To be honest, this is just a side-project whilst working on P6. I think that's why the style is so lackluster. We'll see!
my main complaint with the ui is the inclusion of the color red. in the original version the blue menus were always accompanied by another shade of blue and maybe yellow, but never red. I think yellow complemented the blue way better than the red does
I agree there shouldnt be red in the main pause menu, but i think its fine for shops considering P5 had shops with different color themes than the main menus
"Ryota’s response clearly indicates that his statement to IGN was an unfortunate generalization that is not entirely accurate. To summate it, he clarified that The Answer would not be included in Reload, nor the female protagonist. However, certain parts of FES will be featured in this release." RU-vid wont let me link but NoisyPixel's released an article.
More like, they only clarified their comments when they said that there will be "no FES and Portable contents".. All of the added story contents and features from FES and Portable will be in the remake. The only thing that will not be in the remake is The Answer and FEMC route
Pretty sure when they meant no FES content they meant the big stuff like the answer. But obviously the little stuff like the social links and Elizabeth dates were originally gonna be in. Probably
@@michaelrobosa146 Even then, DLC or a definitive edition is always a possibility considering it's Atlus. If this remake gains traction, which it most likely will considering the hype around its existence, then that's all the more reason for Atlus to add more content for it.
I'll miss guns... I had so much fun with them in P5R, but I understand they don't play an important role in P3 and they can feel strange with the whole Evoker stuff. But, yeah, I'd much rather have melee and ranged attacks instead of pierce, slash and crush. Also, baton passes and technical hits. I wonder if they'll include the new Personas as well (i.em Maria) and the new elemental attributes (nuke, etc.) I'm hoping for the best with this game! And, yeah, at least being able to fight the FEMC would be great, because a whole campaign with her as DLC is almost impossible to happen. Wouldn't it be a strange surprise to have her as a social link or similar as well, though...? Maybe an extra episode where you see an alternate reality or something.
It would be to crazy even for Atlus to not include Aegis S. Link and Elizabeth dates, so not that surprised. Some people panicked about it already so at least now we have a confirmation
I think the ui looks beautifully but the only thing that bothers me is the battle character portraits with the HP and SP. I dont know i just find the portraits too colorful
Eh, it's still a no from me even if Aigis's social link and Elizabeth's dates will be there. I recently played through P3P as FemC and pretty much the only content I've missed out on besides the base game male socials is The Answer. I might be onboard if/when dlc comes out for it.
I love the new UI, inspired from P5 for sure, but with a nice P3 twist. The things that needed to be revamped the most is Combat, fusions and Social links. Now Social Links need to be revamped the most as you only get exp boosts in fusions and unlock the last fusion of that arcana at rank 10. and Combat is broken and easy to exploit the AI (anyone ever seen the stun loop for the reaper?) with fusions it's more of a quality of life thing as in P3 and FES the skills are random on what the fusion will take from the materials and is a huge pain if your trying to get certain skills. Does it suck that FeMC isn't in the game? yeah it does suck as that means there is no version of P3 that has all the content. will i miss FeMC? not really. I personally feel that FeMC has too much of a bubbly and happy personality for a game that's whole concept is about overcoming death. With Combat being revamped, I hope they bring over technical hits from P5R but not the baton pass. as SEES while a team, most of them are very self sufficient and you can even split the party up to explore the floors faster in P3 and FES. I just don't think Baton pass feels right for SEES
