Watching this I realised you’ve always been my number one inspiration for makeup and are where my idea of what’s cool comes from, it helped me avoid the perfection of the early RU-vid/instagram makeup and has kept me grounded in these wonderful messy grungey roots. I could watch videos like this all day!

You're right, Sam. Cochella definitely caters to the 20-something party crowd. If you like rock music like I do, you'd be more inclined to go to Lalapalooza or Ozzfest.

This look is amazing! You did it as a festival look, but with just a few extras it could be a editorial look or as you said “black swan” for a costume party! I loved it with the headband with the sparkly veil! 💕

In the US, Coachella is known for 20 something people who are extremely fit, wear very little clothing and great hats. Burning Man is trendy but many more older people attend.

I love this look and how it will intensify as the day progresses, and you don't have to give a shit about it smudging. Also, a strong recommend for 'You Must Remember This' podcast.

I find Interstellar triggering. Sends me into a silent existential crisis... I think the cinematography is exceptional and the soundtrack too, but I've watched it twice now and I'm left with heavy anxiety and depression afterwards.. no joke!... 😬

Our festivals in the US are pretty much the same. There are some that are more for certain genres, like Download is for y'all. I have a feeling you would like ACL in Austin. There's lots of different stages with many genres of music and even a kid's stage. The food is amazing too. I have not been to Coachella, but from what I've seen of it, it looks like a place where people go to show off and be extra, whereas most of the festivals I've been to are to enjoy the music. Hangout Fest in Florida is good too. Lots of big names and some smaller stages and electronic dance areas too.

I love that hairband. Very Blitz kids' eye makeup circa the early 1980s to even mid-1980s goth. And, other famous ballets, not just Swan Lake, use the black eye make-up look. But it is a great look. You look fabulous and a very helpful tutorial. I usually count on my 10-year-old neighbor to do my eyes like this.

It is great that music festivals and larger events are resuming more like ‘normal’. I am in Canada and we do have music festivals but more often they are genre specific. Then there are raves that are more of a younger crowd deal. I spent 3 months travelling Europe when I was 21 and went to a couple of festivals and loved that they seem more family friendly and included fun stuff for kids too. Such a fun look. Really enjoy seeing so much more of you. Have the best time with your group.

I've been to Coachella more than once. It caters to all ages and all ages are there. The reason more young people go though is because it's in the middle of nowhere and it's not that easy to find a place to stay and it's quite difficult to navigate so as I've gotten older I'd rather not bother. Music wise there are many stages and genres.

I don't know about the baseball cap, because, with it, it starts to look like football game makeup, but it gets the sun out of your eyes, and I guess you wouldn't want sunglasses to cover everything up. Also, about your friend's awful sunburn story: apparently drinking alcohol makes your skin more prone to burning, I heard a dermatologist on RU-vid saying that

Bloody love it. I've seen a variation on the theme applying an eye paint (about-face or Danessa Myricks) with a small fan brush. So damn cool.

I think from your description burning man is actually closer to a UK music festival than you think! It’s people of literally all ages just hanging out. It feels trendy because Paris Hilton flies in but it’s genuinely not AT ALL

I love the look but being a metal festival goer myself and coming back from a 30 degrees Graspop metal meeting where it was so hot I kept on sweating massively and ridiculously, I can say again you can use all the waterproof makeup you want, sweat will ruin everything 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ So in that case, I’m just using some Lisa Eldridge liquid lurex eyeshadow with some supposedly waterproof eyeliner. It smudged several times during the day but I also find creasing makes it look better, so when it got too dirty I just fixed it by rubbing it with my fingers and it looked killer!

Don't know about Coachella, have never been, but Burning Man is definitely not youth-centric. Maybe in the last few years it has drawn more younger people (instagram, influencers /eyeroll/), but there are in fact people of all ages there, and many, many lovely older folk, but also children (even toddlers and babies)!

Oh I love it when you do the messy, creative looks. I remember you mentioning that podcast many years ago in your Pixiwoo days, and you were right - it was excellent. Loved the chatty style of this video. I'd love to see you do a Biba inspired look and 1920's look please.

What was the foundation you used here? I want a sheer coverage foundation (no fragrance) for dry skin. I like to look dewy but not greasy. I was using Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder, but I can't seem to get hold of my colour anymore. I hope it's not been discontinued 😞 I'd love a foundation video for dry skin with a range of price points.
