Festool CT 25 Mobile Dust Extractor Vacuum Review
Purchase link: acmetools.pxf.io/JzOnbr
Festool just released two new vacuums the CT 15 and the CT 25 CleanTec Mobile Dust Extractor. These Festool CleanTec vacuums now offer contractors, and cleaners a pro range of vacuum cleaners for cleaning tasks, such as large messes of dust, or dirt created by hand tools and other work-related functions. It was designed to be used at job sites, workshops, in offices, pretty much anywhere.

First Impressions | CT 25 Mobile Dust Extractor
I was impressed with the CT 25 Mobile Dust Extractors compact size, and low weight. It has a nice fit and finish with a sturdy looking chassis, steel axle and wheel connection.
One thing missing from the vacuum that many Festool users will notice is the lack of a brake. This omission was intentional as the CT 15 an CT 25 dust extractors were designed to be used as a general-purpose vacuum and need to move freely without an accidental brake activation.
Another thing missing and new to the CT 25 Mobile Dust Extractor an intuitive touch control panel in place of rotary knobs. There are five levels controlling suction power. The vacuums main filter is on the external side of the vacuum and slides out like a drawer.
The top portion of the vacuum is a compartment that houses the crevice and upholstery adapters and has room for the power cord for storage. Additionally, the vacuum hose port connects inside this compartment and routes out towards the front portion of the vacuum, instead of the typical front port connection. This new location eliminates the chance of the hose disconnecting when pulling the vacuum behind you. There is an attached elastic strap that is used to strap the coiled up vacuum hose to the canister top.
Using the CT 25 Mobile Dust Extractor
Besides the super easy, and intuitive power switch and suction power control first thing that struck me was how easily the CT 25 vacuum followed behind me. The wheels track and turn smoothly.
I really liked the hose to vac connection. As I mentioned earlier the vacuum hose port connects inside the top compartment and routes out towards the front portion of the vacuum, eliminating the chance of the hose disconnecting when pulling the vacuum behind you.
Speaking of pulling the vac hose, I found that the wheels track nicely and easily followed me as I vacuumed.
In addition to the 5-speed suction control on the vacuum the hose has a rotating bypass valve on the hose nozzle. This allows you to adjust suction without having to go back to the tool. For example, transitioning from carpet to hardwood flooring.
The suction on the CT25 is excellent and picked up most items on the floor. Items that it did not suck up are common among many vacuums; heavier particles such as nuts, nails, and screws.
The CT 25 vacuum filter is easily replaced or swapped for a wet filter. We wrote on the outside of the filters “DRY” and “WET” so as not to mistake them during use. Festool should consider labeling or color coding the wet filter. I like blue… for wet!
We noted that the CT 25 vacuum was compatible with all our older Festool accessories, hoses, and wands.
We also noted that when vacuuming I tended to grasp the vacuum wand in different locations causing some mixed results. If I choked up too far, my hand would accidently push open the bypass nozzle. If I grab the wand too far back, near the hose to wand connection, I create a hinge causing the hose to disconnect. This action happened a few times and was frustrating.
Room For Improvement
There are two items I’d like to see Festool improve on. The first would be to improve the attached elastic strap that is used to secure the coiled up vacuum hose to the canister top. I found this strap difficult to hook on, sometimes slipping out of my grasp and snapping my hand or fingers. I think a large pull tab for the user to grasp and pull the cord would eliminate this issue.
The second improvement would be on the hose to the wand connection, especially for the the Tradesman / Installer Cleaning Set accessory wand and green hose. This connection disconnected on me far too often and easily. I could see this as a major pain point for users, necessitating taping the connection. I suppose training myself to not grab the hose at that location is one solution, as would be a more secure, locking connection designed by Festool.
The Festool CT 25 Mobile Dust Extractor costs [pre-order] $485.00 online at ACME tools

Thanks for another great video Rob. I appreciate your level of detail in analysis. Always, above all beyond! I love my midi and my ct36 and they have endured many years of use. 💚

Pretty cool. Looks like a Midi style update is on the horizon for the CT 26. The wand for the plastic cleaning kit I have did get the electrical tape treatment. That was a couple years ago. I've had good longevity and reliability out of Festool dust extractors. Replaced one of the machines at 10yrs and another at 8yrs. Both still work, but they seemed like they lost a little of their efficiency before being retired. Both those units were out in the field extractors that lived in cargo vans year round. They earned their keep.

I've owned a Midi for over 10 years now and for me not a single "improvement" that Festool has done with these vacuums is actually a benefit. I love my Midi just the way it is, WITH a brake, WITH a hose garage, WITH a knob for suction settings.

I’ve been wanting a dust extractor for a while now but can’t afford an upper end model. I was really thinking about the Bosch 9 gallon model (w/auto clean) and it gives you a lot more capacity. What are your thoughts on the CT25e vs the Bosch?

I have the CTM Midi and I can say that Festool made a big mistake with the hose positioned in the middle of the bag. Once the bag is half full-that’s it game over. I guess this new model potentially will have the same problem.

Hey, Rob. Watching your other video where you've swapped out to Makita XGT in your van - what is your relationship with Makita? Are you sponsored, or did you make a huge personal investment? Why did you chose to do so considering how much tools you already have available?

The unit itself is great, the wand however is garbage. All Miele accessories also fit on the d26 connector. The D50 hose connector like yours is a bit bad to work with. It doesnt fit a Makita tracksaw and so on.

I don't think that you could ask for a bigger task of a vacuum than cleaning chimneys. Possibly sanding drywall mud seams? A bigger capacity one will give you more surface areas to get clogged up in the bag with that fine of a dust. So in your case, bigger is better! 👍👍

I would compare the CT25 to the CT MIDI. Pluses: Much lower price, larger bag capacity 6.6 Gallons vs 4 Gallons. Very similar size as CT Midi. Same digital dashboard as CT MIDI. Minus: No Bluetooth but now days you can buy an auto-vaccum switch to turn vacuum on and off at the same time as sander or other tools. No break ( Not really necessary. If it is, just add 2 pierces of wood at front and back of wheels). The video is misleading as the hose that comes with CT25 is not the smooth one. However, if you need a larger hose, you would have to pay extra with CT 25 as you would for the other Festool extractors. I feel, for some reason, this video depicts the CT 25 more as a vacuum than a dust tool extractor. It’s just the same dust bag and filtration as all the other CT dust extractors without a few options, with more dust capacity and much less expensive! The above is the reason why I chose the CT 25 instead of other extractors at festool.

The lack of being able to add a hose garage currently to the 25 is a deal breaker for me. With that one part you lose the hose storage and being able to stack sanders on top. The cord wrap on the budget 15 and 25 are annoying too. But for an extra $20 they can be added. Almost every missing part on the 15 can be added with Midi parts. The exceptions are the Bluetooth and the manual auto clean. I don't own either the 15 or the 25, but I have ran a Midi next to a 15. They are a solid more budget friendly option. Performance wise they run the same as their counterparts. Just scaled down in features.

I fully agree with you about the hose, but since I am going to buy a (36) wider one I would not be able to store both anyway. I will find an engines idea way to get store hose some way. Woodworkers are always full of ideas, I am sure to will find something practical. The video really makes the hose look like a live boa-constrictor, I am sure it can somehow be tamed :)
@Fictitious_Character
@Fictitious_Character 10 месяцев назад
@@frenchaccent540 LoL Yes I'm sure you'll tame the beast. The reason why the lack of hose storage, and on vac systainer storage is essentially a deal breaker for me is because I'm a mobile operation, and van real estate is always a premium. I just want to lock the vac in place with a few sanders on top, and the primary hose tucked underneath with the cord strapped down the side. Ready for the next job with minimal setup.

@Stefan_Kawalec
@Stefan_Kawalec 10 месяцев назад
@@ConcordCarpenter Thanks fot the answer. I know, but how come there's no Systainer docking station on top of that vacuum. Although most of my tools are Makita, I use some Festool tools. They're ok, but not as good as Festool claims. The best thing they made are Systainers. And I cannot understand why they're making tools that are incompatible with Systainers. BTW, CT25 looks as if it was made by Nilfisk. Axle on the big wheels looks the same as in Nilfisk Attix 44 or Makita VC4210 or Milwaukee AS 42Mac or any other brand using that model (German Flex, older Hilti, Karcher etc).
@dylandempsey6103
@dylandempsey6103 10 месяцев назад
@@Stefan_Kawalecthey cut out features to make it cheaper. You can upgrade the hose garage to one that works with the systainer system yourself if you want. There are RU-vid videos of people doing it to the CT15
@Stefan_Kawalec
@Stefan_Kawalec 10 месяцев назад
@@dylandempsey6103 I know that Festool is trying to reach some really low hanging fruits. But they still fail. CT 25 has functions of $100 vacuum cleaner. If it costed @200-250, that would be fine. I am willing to pay any money for the tool worth it. I have some Mafell tools, I use Kapex 120, Planex and Rotex 150. They are worth the money. And whenever I buy a tool, I take the most advanced set. But Festool vacuum cleaners are way below other brands. I would be perfectly OK with that, because Festool usually has it's own quirks and features. But with this particular vacuum cleaner they allowed the accountant and marketing departments to go overboard a bit too much.
