Thank you sir for the very well detailed explanation. I recently bought the 500 a few weeks ago, but decided to return and get the 700XL instead. Got the 500 because I had planned on using it on a project with mostly 3/4” stock. However, I saw videos and read comments with people saying you can buy the adapter from Seneca to use on smaller stock so I decided to get the XL. That way I at least have the option to use on larger materials when I need to.

I agree with you on choosing the 700 model. you can use an 8 mm cutter even for chipboard sheets, which is not bad at all

Thanks,. I actually picked up a second hand 700 for the same price as a 500... Fingers crossed it doesn't have any issues within the warranty period. Great machine and I intend to get the Seneca adaptor.

Great explanation Steve. When I decided that I 'needed' a Domino machine I decided on the 700 for the same reason as you. For my arthritic hands it was much more ergonomic compared to the 500. I was able to try both machines at Carbatec. Yes, Dave Stanton sold it to me. He has the 700. Pity the 500 is not scaled down from the 700. I also bought the Seneco stuff.

I build stuff anywhere from picture frames and small boxes to large tables. I've only got the funds to get one of the dominos right now, would you recommend getting the DF700 or DF500 in my situation?
