Anthony, what's your favorite source for non-pre-glued edge banding? It seems the pre-glued stuff is sold by every vendor in the woodworking business, but when I ask for non-pre-glued, they look at me like I'm a real weirdo. By the way, as a new KA65 owner, I was astonished to find there's no stop button. In the next-to-useless booklet which passes for a user manual, Festool never says there is no stop button. I soon figured out why the button on the top of the handle is described as the "Start" button -- not start/stop. Also, what good is the edge banding cartridge holder? I can imagine using it and encountering an error needing me to stop but I helplessly watch and a whole spool of fine maple edge banding is run through. At least now I know to quickly snap the unfed banding and the machine will soon stop.
My vendors are Edgeco out of NY and PRI out of IL. You can buy from Wurth directly if you are not a business. If you need to stop, you have to hit the power button and then you'll be able to cut the banding before the glue nozzle. I like the cassette holder and i use it all the time. Be mindful of leaving the machine running too long in an idle state....you will smoke the heat sink and it's a thousand dollar repair.
Hello, did you have sometimes problem with feed the edge banding during processing and edge banding stop between the rollers and everything start melting and you can’t stop machine because sensor still see the banding and all process need to be repeated? I have this problem sometimes and this is very frustrating and I don’t know how to solve this 😩 pushing edge banding by hand to help the rollers?
Sometimes if the height adjustment is too tight against the edgebanding it will not feed. Also if you are using material thicker than 1mm, i think the machine feeds better on the slow setting.
Hi… I’m starting to expand my cabinet installation business by offering custom closet & cabinets I need an edgebander but have a small 1 car garage and this looks perfect.
I bought the conturo because I had to do a bunch of radius edges. It works great. It's not as fast or efficient as a stationary machine. Check out ExFactory to gauge what is a better investment. Processing shelves with a real edgebander is a timesaver compared to portables.
