After two miscarriages and the stillborn birth of their daughter, an Elk Grove couple now has the family that they have always dreamed of, with the birth of their son Matthew. He was diagnosed with a condition called fetal hydrops at 32 weeks, but survived, thanks to fetal surgery performed at UC Davis Children’s Hospital’s Fetal Care and Treatment Center. Dr. Shinjiro Hirose explains the condition and how fetal surgery can save the life of a baby with hydrops.
