Respekt, dieses Video ist beeindruckend und hat meine Hochachtung vor den Frauen und Männern der Feuerwehr verstärkt. Dieser Beruf ist ja sehr anspruchsvoll was die technischen Kenntnisse und Fähigkeiten angeht, aber auch die menschlichen Eigenschaften sind hoch zu bewerten.
we also get it from rivers/lakes/ponds, but when you don't have enough tankers, or the acces road is only 1 lane so trucks can't pass each other there, that can get difficult - and anyway having that amount of hoses doesn't always mean that you need all of them in one line, but e.g. can use them in a shorter distance parallel to each other, simply disconnecting it at one or two points
yes and no: it is true that some ff here don't wear seatbelts. But in the video you see the ones sitting in the front of the truck do wear seatbelts, and nowadays many of our fire trucks have a little bit different seatbelt for the ones sitting in the back: the SCBA-pack (also when already put on) is fastened in the seat itself and thus works as a belt. It is released when arriving on scene
yes in some way the bottle holder is integrated in the seat and by that replaces the use of the seatbelt then, I'll send you a link with a picture of such a seat in a few minutes :)
Geschätzte Feuerwehrleute, wo immer Ihr auch seid: Das ist ein Werbevideo der traditionsreichen Ulmer Firma Magirus, damals noch Iveco Magirus. Gedreht im Jahr 2005 an einem Tag, zusammen mit der Ulmer Feuerwehr. Da mussten wir schon ein kleinwenig straffen, ohne dass die Action leidet. Hoffen, das ist uns gelungen? Übrigens ist es das meistgesehene Video unter dem Suchbegriff "Feuerwehreinsatz". Es grüßt das protel Film-Team aus Ulm. PS Leider fehlt der Schluss, aber so ist das halt auf youtube, wo jeder (fast) alles machen kann, was er will. :-)
we don't have only the small trucks, since we hardly need our big Tankers (which do carry as much water) it's no surprise that they aren't here in the video. The hoses at the rear are 3 inches in diameter. The videos whows that not all hoses have to be connected, at 1:24 the hose reel and at 2:21 the panniers.- Whether the nozzle has to be or already is attached depends on the producer of the ladder and the FD. And yes our FD has tanks with 8800 lbs deep frozen CO²
Ja da hast du natürlich Recht. Allerdings war das 3. auf das Aufstellen vor dem Fahrzeug am Einsatzort bezogen, nicht auf das Fehlen eines ELW ;) Diese werden natürlich in der Praxis schon verwendet.
(oh I forgot that): blocking roads isn't a big problem, we simply use those small hose bridges (I thought you have those in the US as well?), we have several hose bridges on every Engine/Rescue Engine/Tanker so that traffic can cross the hoses without a problem
We use tankers and we can draft water from ponds, lakes or rivers for out rural areas. Laying that much hose causes problems by blocking roads and you have to boost pressure with several pumpers, so it's easier to shuttle water if it's more than 2000 feet.
we have a lot industrial complexes around here, many plants (also big ones like e.g. Continental, BMW, Infineon), several universities (also with chemics etc.) and hospitals. Of course we don't use the CO² for the average structure fire or so Yes it is a great length, but what would you do when you are far off a water supply, e.g. on a farm, or in a forest, and don't have a sufficent number of Tanker trucks to shuttle and don't have a helicopter to bring water?
yes and no, not in all European countries 112 is the number for the FD, but it still is an emergency number and they'd redirect the call. E.g. in Norway 110 is for the FD, and calling 112 you'll end up at the PD
@dew474 Die Autos gehören meines Wissens auch nicht der FFW Ulm sondern sind Vorführfahrzeuge der IVECO Magirus Brandschutztechnik GmbH. Der erste Teil ist auf der Ulmer Wache, als die Fahrzeuge ausrücken, der Rest aufm Gelände von Iveco im Donautal direkt vor deren Feuerwache.
(it got too long for one comment): And we do have trucks, the so-called "SW2000", hose truck 2000, with 2000 meters / 1.24 miles of connected hoses. Especially in areas where the water supply can be complicated (small villages, forests etc) the FDs have those trucks
na ja, wir haben das Video zum Roten Hahn 2005 produziert und irgend so ein interner Schlaumaier hat es dann später - ohne zu fragen - online gestellt und dann auch noch den Schluß gekappt. So sind halt 35 Mio Zugriffe draus geworden ... Protel Videos haben öfters das Zeug zum Klassiker? Gruß aus Ulm
@itsponge Meine Meinung! Wir haben bei uns, weil wir dann unabhängig von vorschriften und Fördergeldern waren, auch nen 316cdi als KdoW ausgebaut, ist aber eigentlich genau wie ein ELW. Im Verhältnis dazu hat eine unserer Nachbarwehren einen kleinen Opel Vivaro als ELW :D

um no not quite: on our hose reels at the back of the trucks are 5 to 8 hoses already conntected, in the hose pannier on the truck 3 hoses are connected, and for the rest we have trucks with 1.24 miles of connected hoses - which we hardly need because of good water supply and a fast setup of the normal hoses. Same with water, foam and frozen CO² tanks, we hardly need our 2600 to 3200 gallone tanker trucks
