Jeffrey Mallouk even my dad said this was pretty much what it was like, say in silence until thomas broke through the middle, he'd waited since 1972 to win the league

Totally agree,which ever team you support this sums up the ups and downs of every football fan each season.I Remember when Leeds won the league in 92 when Liverpool beat Man Utd ok not as incredable as Arsenals title but just like Mark Strong at the end and that incredible feeling when your team wins the league especially when you have not won it for years.

The is Chelsea Nou Camp 2012, Man City 2012, Juventus 2002, Any last gasp won of a major trophy and you are going mental. This is what football personifies. The Italy vs Germany Semi-Final WC 2006. The list goes on. Its why true football fans live the game so much.

Are you taking the piss? This is way bigger than Chelsea nou camp or City in 2012…?! This is the whole league season wrapped up in the final game vs their title rivals - won on goals scored, in the last minute of the game. This will genuinely never be topped.

I support AS Roma, but watching this scene I enjoy the double because Arsenal beat the hated liverpool and won the Premier League... few years after we were defeated in the final of the champions league! Since then I have been supporting the Gunners, although lately in England my heart is Geordie for Newcastle United that, ironically, has the colors of hated jubentus but is the only one with those colors I adore and support. But Arsenal will always have a special place in my heart. Arsenal and Newcastle United, my favorite English teams! Come on Gunners, you vindicated us very well in that season!

E mica fu colpa del Liverpool se non vinceste quella sera, Bonetti voleva fare lo splendido e rinviare a centrocampo buttando palla addosso a Neal, e Falcão che non tirò il rigore mentre Righetti si prese la rogna di farlo...

The commentary is incorrect. Liverpool would have been 'then' champions for the 18th time not 19th time. We won the league the following year (for the 18th) time. Which is the last time Liverpool have won it.

It is an interesting history we have at Arsenal because - as good as it is been- we still have so much to achieve. It is what makes football a great sport and perhaps what makes Arsenal a great but not an elite football club.

I am not an Arsenal fan but this truly was the most incredible end to any season, unless you are 40 years old plus then you can’t understand what Arsenal achieved that night. I don’t have the stats to hand but in the previous ten seasons or so Liverpool had probably lost about 10 of 210 home league games and probably only once or twice by two goals - but under this crazy pressure Arsenal pulled it off.

Aguero vs QPR is not even close to Thomas vs Pool. The greatest climax in the history of the first division or premier league and a movie that encapsulates that raw emotion. This wasn’t manufactured by sky tv.........

This was the First Division, not the Premier League and Man City got two in injury time to steal their first ritle in god knows how long away from their rivals with the last kick

Loool, football didn't exist before the PL confirmation bias. I don't know why I bother entertaining some of the muppets that respond to my youtube posts. If you can't see the top two in the league playing an end of season title decider (Arsenal vs Liverpool) is way more impressive than a side funded by Arab billions beating relegation fodder, when really they should have thumped QPR rather than scraping through as they did against 10 men then thats not my problem. You were probably in nappies in 1989, so now you've had 2 minutes of my time, jog on.
@MattJames1958
@MattJames1958 6 лет назад
@@scousebusters1989 😂😂😂. You yourself called it the Premier League before it had even been formed, arguably showing a lack of knowledge but I'll let that slide as a slip of the tongue (well, keyboard). There's no denying that this is a dramatic climax to a season, however I personally believe that Man City's title win was more dramatic than this
@scousebusters1989
@scousebusters1989 6 лет назад
Can you read? To quote "the greatest climax in the history of the first division OR premier league", the clue is in the OR. You really don't have a clue what you are talking about. Liverpool where the best team in the land during the 80s, this was a title decider at their ground where we HAD to win by 2 clear goals. All City had to do is win, big difference. Now stop wasting my time.
@MattJames1958
@MattJames1958 6 лет назад
@@scousebusters1989 All they had to do was win. They came back from 2-1 down in the dying moments to steal the title from their greatest rivals who thought they'd won it. If we swapped the teams (Man City win in 89), you would 100% say that the other way was more dramatic

I just checked the stats, in their previous 209 home league games Liverpool had lost just 18 games - that’s 8.6% loss rate - and conceded just 120 goals at home - just 0.57 goals per home game on average! What an achievement by Arsenal.

I'm here on the weekend before the close of 2021/22 season, If Liverpool beat Wolves, and Villa by some miracle stop Man City at the Etihad from getting anymore than a draw, then Liverpool will be champions. Of course its never going to happen, but I'm sure everyone was saying the same about the Arsenal beating the reds by 2 goals at fortress Anfield leading up to that fateful night in May '89
