Appearance matches the performance perfectly. Everything is off just enough to keep you from getting too cozy and calm in the trance-y drone. Quietly intense. Great song, great performance. Love it.
I personally would have opted for a light silver-blue instead of pink. Pink looks like an infected wound. It reminds me of maggots and distracts from the music.
i thought about this… i had a conclusion they left it in the recording so that we think an actual mutant was recorded in the studio in one take without edit
Actually if you listened to recording of English and French early middle ages where the musical instrument the drone was a centerpiece for keeping the beat you would be amazed at the similarity. I only heard the songs in college music courses.I have never been able to find it on youtube.
As an Black American Man I find Nordic culture and music impressive.. Very proud and brave people.. And please stop with the negativity about her appearance, listen to the music and judge that instead.
When this played over Floki & Ubbe watching the sunset on the coasts of Vinland....what an amazing feeling - they rose, they fought & they fell, but the Lothbroks made their mark on history like nobody else. And now they're all in Valhalla. Vikings forever !!
Personalmente prefiero guardar secreta mi admiración por esta voz que es única. Yo estuve en ese concierto en Brusselas y la vi en 2010 en Paris. Dichoso que desde entonces saque una nueva obra : Plunge
What's with all these comments about her appearance, are people so uneducated that they don't know about David Bowie, Robert Smith or Siouxsie Sioux and refer immediately to drugs and insanity? Whether it is true or not is not relevant, this is a live performance and some artists just like to push the concept and wear makeup to express themselves and add a dramatic dimension. Also, norms are boring.
Bigger question is what's the point? The androgyny thing has lost its shock value. "Hey look, I'm weird and eccentric!" has been tired for some time. Same as edgy crap. The most shocking thing now is for a performer to be themselves without some gimmick.
I'm glad I don't "get art." Who cares what you look like or how deep a song's meaning can be? Just get up on stage, play the fucking songs and make sure people enjoy listening to them.
you ladies do it the best, it does make me feel as though i am a viking coming up on the shores of some foreign land ; pumped up ready to see what these people bring
Me encanta esta música, se me eriza la piel con tan solo escucharla, me alegra saber que la usaron en la intro de la serie de Vikingos, saludos desde Perú.
This song was actually featured in Breaking Bad Season 4, and I was immediately hooked. Obviously, it hit a chord with a lot of people to be featured on "Vikings" (which I also loved) as well.
No way!! Had no idea this was Fever Ray! I loved Vikings and this intro song but was so clueless! I was a big fan of The Knife but hadn’t given much time to Fever Ray. Until now!!
This must be the best song EVER.. So hardcore cool etc.. Once you heard this song it owns you forever.. There was a time before and after you heard this.. At least for me.. IT har an impact on me and hit me me hard.. Only other music that hit me that hård was Fools with Van Halen.. When i heard that riff.. I was a Van Halen fan.. Fever Ray thank you for making me Feel that impact again..
@@badbot223 no one wanted to join him to get revenge on England, that was the only way to get the vikings to come together and get revenge for the settlement
she is fearless and brilliant. check out the live video of To The Moon and Back -- so fun, so good. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y14z6jCZL58.html
Reagan Hutcheson Oh sugar balls, my point is that he comments her looks, which is just so tiresome. Also, his "though" shows the comment is not a compliment. You aren't very clever, are you?
@@tinkywinky5586 what's tiresome is that you care that they commented on their looks. This audio is accompanied by video therefore people are taking in both Sonic information and visual information. Don't be offended if they comment on both.
I think a lot of the negativity based on her appearance is based on what society has deemed “normal.” And for anyone who watches TWD, she might trigger some kinda subconscious nostalgia that makes her appear “creepy,” or “weird.” Just a friendly reminder to everyone that this is an artistic expression, and it’s seriously no one’s business how she decides to present herself. Also, good for her for not following social norms! :)
I LOVE insane people. They are the purist form of what a human being is. They are not burdened with social, religious or even moral bullshit beliefs and expectations. Their minds and souls are free. I envy them.
Looks like a very far left "statement" if you ask me 🤔 or she is commited to lesbian stereotype, or both... I guess as edgy, angsty and/ or pretentious was the pitch, eh?
I really miss the old group of characters and how the theme of the series was bright not dark like after season 4b and so on Goodbye Ragnar. The series in nothing without you the only skilled guys who knew how to act after your death was floki and ivar
Yeah aside from a couple songs, she's just going for 'shock value', and once you peel that away, it just lacks the lustre and magnetism of her earlier work. Too bad. Maybe next time...
I like both of them. The first is more depressed, closed, introverted, more in shadows (except when I grow up) and like a hybernation through winter. And the second one is more fun and more happy and more energetic and more positive (although youy have songs like Red Trails or Falling, that are a reminder of first album or even the second Knife album)
Karin Dreijer is known to use ways to distort her voice in most of her work - it's not something she did for just this piece. She is also known for wearing different types of masks and other effects which may not be known as to why for the audience, but I know one of the reasons is because she likes to be somewhat private - to have a private life - outside of her bubble of artistry. This is what I hate about things I love becoming mainstream; not because I don't want the creators more exposure, but because it attracts all the ignorant people that only consume mainstream stuff and then compare everything to that thinking it's original, or they compare it to artists that have sold millions of records and that they are in this belief that those artists are super original and invented this and that. If you just scratch under the surface you will find out just how much the "greatest artists of our history" actually copies others(and that's ok - everyone copies). Just enjoy the art, and if you don't - just go back to that same old artist you happened to fall in love with when you were 16 and that you would from then on always compare every other artist to. It's all just a coincident, you know.
