I remember when, in the fandom, this stand and it’s fight was widely hated due to being really hard to follow along (not just understand the abilities, but what is actually happening in the fight) The anime was a MASSIVE glow up for this stand, and it needed it I’m so glad it did though, because this is amazing
Yeah this was easily my favorite fight in SO, there was so much movement as opposed to SC where characters just stand around and let their Stands do all of the fighting. I never read the manga but I can see how it would have been more difficult to follow the fight on stagnant pages.
@@juliandavidhoffer2022 part 6? Haven't watch it all yet but my favourite is probably Jotaro and Jolyne vs White Snake. If it's jojo in general, it's either Jotaro vs Dio or Doppio vs Risotto
Kenzou and Dragon's Dream have excellent casting, I like how both of them have different voice actors to emphasize the Stand's independence and agency from the user's.
@@HFS0744no they aren’t. Dragon’s dream is voiced by Chō, the voice actor for Brook in ONE PIECE. Kenzou is voiced by someone named Mugihito. If you watch JJK then you’d know him as Principal Gakuganji, the old guy who has the electric guitar. He’s also the same guy who voices J. Geil in the Part 3 OVA.
For me, it was hard to understand because usually, in current Jojo, inhuman level fight is always done directly with a stand. Usually, it's Star Platinum throwing punches, or Purple Haze spreading viruses. But with Dragon's Dream, it was the stand user themselves that actively fight. Maybe i'm just salty because how the hell a literal stand and a Jojo are losing to a mere human that knows kung fu.
The first time they explained his stand's abilities I thought it was so incredible dumb and bizarre. As the fight went on, it became one of my favourites fights in the anime. It's so intriguing and deadly and kept me wondering on how would they ever be able to defeat such an unbeatable foe that is basically guided by destiny.
It's also poetic that it was DD who defected it's master as Chinese philosophy believes using Divination will bring harms to the teller. Araki did make an intriguing stand.
Probably because most of the audiences have no idea what feng-shui is, basically everyone I know except who are Chinese (where feng-shui came from) have no idea what they were talking about, while Chinese audience know exactly what the stand were doing in the first go.
@@juicejooos Yes, and still a bunch of people have no idea what it is, after they "literally explained it", specifically amongs the manga reader. I guess it's culture difference.
Dragons dream is such a lethal stand..before we were told that stands that control time are the strongest..but in fact those who control fate is even stronger because it is inevitable but usually they cannot be used, such as toth and rolling stones..and dd, is the closest thing to the stand that controlled fate that can actually be used..this fight between ff and this piss drinking geezer is easily my favourite
To be fair, controlling time is the closest thing you have to controlling fate, as fate/luck stands cannot control the outcome but only make it more or less favourable by you receiving the information. Diavolo was pretty close to the best since he had a fate/time combo abilities until GER happened; he could escape any bad fate in short term for himself while others retained it.
It should also be noted that Dragon's Dream is also a risky stand to use because it can provide all of its benefits to the opponent and even outright tells the opponent to do so and how to (the only thing stopping them is from suspecting that it's trying to deceive them). Funnily enough, Buccarati's anti-lying quirk would have made him the best hard counter by just knowing that Dragon's Dream isn't lying to him and just stepping into the lucky zones he's being told about, but he's been dead for a while at this point.
@@NewNecro true...i doubt theres a better stands than kc for a one on one situation..but it should be noted that kc moved the same with others..so basically if you can surround him in a closed space and shoot at the same time, then : Kc : Will still get riddled, it can probably avoid fatal wounds tho Tw : Will get out of it unscatched.. Dd : Will get out of it unscatched, and the shooter dies shooting each other..🤣 And kc is vulnerable to aoe stands like weather report (who doesnt anyway) but dd, as long as you can protect the safe spot, then even aoe stands are useless.. Then again, if Kenzo and diavolo Duke it out, kc Will win easy, since it knows where the opponent weak spot and strike it at any Times thanks to its prediction ability..
I love dragon's dream. It's such a cool stand that uses the concept of feng shui, and gives an equal fight where knowledge of feng shui is the deciding factor between winning and losing.
This stand is crazy, nigh invincible. There’s only two ways to consistently beat it: A) Create a situation in which luck is a non-factor. If you can guarantee a positive outcome, his ability becomes irrelevant. For instance, stopping time would be a guaranteed win condition. B) Trip up the user and have them misread their stand. This is tough to do, but if F.F was capable, other stand users should be more than capable. In theory, you could also just use the Joestar Secret Technique and hightail it, since this stand has zero offensive utility. Stands that are powerful up close also serve as a decent counter for this same reason, as luck can only do so much for a human against something like Star Platinum.
@@ChrisNachoss Not for F.F specifically. Running is off the table with Jolyne crippled, so the easy way is gone. Due to the lack of water, the only thing her stand is capable of is the gun, which is hilariously ineffective when it comes to guaranteeing a good outcome. With poor enough luck, every shot will miss, and that’s exactly what happened. Someone like Jolyne would have had a much better matchup
It's greatest weakness is that it's ability can only target one person at a time, barring the user themselves. Meaning if you're reliant solely on DD to pinpoint and attack your foes, another might be able to attack you while you're distracted. Honestly having 'can only OTK one person at a time' as a weakness shows how powerful this stand can be in the right hands. If the Dragon itself didn't constantly tell your opponent everything to 'keep things fair', it would be the perfect assassination stand, you'd easily be able to take out an opponent before they even realise you're a threat
@@ForgottenFafnir True. It can only tell the area of worst luck for a single person, so while D.D is still strong defensively against groups, he can’t do a damn thing to attack. Definitely a 1v1 specialist.
0:22 So that’s how Mista dodged those bullets in his backstory, he had Dragon’s Dream show him the direction of safety!!! The arrow on his hat is the same arrow as Dragon’s Dream.
It's interesting that Dragon's Dream seemingly works against it's user on purpose sometimes. Since Stands are a reflection of user's inner self- it might mean that the guy deeply despises himself
@@jonnythonmccrapballs3112 Hmm idk Should have added about the stands that exhibit more free form expression. But even when they are fully obedient- they still do show what a person feels on the inside, either through abolities or how it looks
I would imagine more like a close range fighter , on random moments, he would be able to double/extend his attack further, or able to land a critical BUT !! Also has a chance to back fire on himself, having the chance to either miss an attack or inflict half the amount of damage then you would normally would, (reference in the anime of when he has to work in the right position to order to fight)
For some reason, this Stand was overhated by the fandom before the anime aired. It's actually been one of my favorites, however. It's not that hard to understand at all. Everyone likes Poco Loco's Stand, too, which I don't understand. That Stand and Dragon's dream works similarly. They both control luck.
From what I understand there wasn't enough space in the manga to properly explain/demonstate Dragons Dreams ability and how it worked, coupled with the fact that feng shui is a somewhat nebulous topic that not many people know or actively engage in, and the result is the stand being considered BS by the fandom until this fight was animated, similar to king crimson.
DD doesn't control luck, it merely reads luck. By allowing the user to act on luck, they interact with fate and manipulate it slightly. DD is just a hyper specialized version of Foresight.
@@Lucifer_Nihilum really its not even that, Kenzo guesses what his opponent decides to do and then decides what he wants to do, then asks DD where he needs to be and where he needs to hit to do maximum damage while having 0 risk of getting countered before, during or after his attack. Its basically 2 "if, then" questions with feng shui as the backdrop.
Oh my god I am so tired of this misinfo about Hey Ya. Poco Loco was already naturally lucky. Hey Ya is stated to have absolutely nothing to do with it. Hey Ya's only function is that it makes him feel good. That's it. It's a wingman stand.
Poco Loco's stand doesn't control luck. Poco Loco is naturally lucky for reasons unrelated to the stand. All his stand does is give him the encouragement he needs to use his own luck.
Feng Shui is interesting thing in this situation, Geezer developed this technique same way Hamon users did, so his mastery became a stand. As Araki said Hamon is the first step for the Stand having. So
I actually like this fight. I love how the stand and user just get angry at each other and I wish that more stands were given personality and actually talked.
The ost 5:38 Is one of the best fucking osts in Jojo Ever since the damn first FF encounter Its the perfect mix for bizzare terror and desperation Fuck, 2 seasons and still not released Update: JESUS FUCK LITERALLY THE PART ENDED AND ALL THE OSTS HAVE BEEN RELEASED BUT THIS ONE *OST* THE OST IS HERE!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8uWRwzCyRJg.html
The thing that has always puzzled me is that does Feng Shui actually exist in the JoJo universe as a constant, with this stand able to access it and take advantage of it, or is it the stand that makes feng shui real while it's being used to read the lucky/unlucky directions?
I think Feng Shui exists in Jojo and is a real force. There are a few arguments that make me think so. 1. In Jojo we can see that such things as fate, gravity (between people) are actual real forces that we can see proof of. So seeing Feng Shui as a real thing would not be unfitting. 2. Anasui noticed how the stand revolves around the concept of Feng Shui, so we can be sure it at least is known in Jojo verse. 3. It is said that Kenzou didn't get his stand from a disc or arrow, he got it by perfecting assassination Feng Shui, so if he practiced Feng Shui before he got his stand that means it already existed and was not created by the stand.
I also remember how a good fortune teller was able to discern Doppio/s Diavolo life and personality without mistake, via palm reading. So a lot of esoteric and spiritual stuff actually works properly in JoJo even without stands. I really like how subtle all the mystic elements are though
@@cultistaautistasomething supernatural like Hamon (which is like magic based power) exist so why another magic like power like Feng Shui should not ?
The way Feng Shui is described, I had the impression it’s simply the flow of nature. Cause, effect, and consequences all result from this flow, and Feng Shui is the way to affect this flow in favorable ways. Like wind and water flowing through a valley, everything in the universe moves forward in some manner, and whenever there’s something in the way, it turns. Put a concrete divider between yourself and a bullet, and you can avoid potential death. Leave a room when you feel a shift in temperature or an unusual scent and you could avoid a terrorist’s suicide bombing. The philosophy behind Feng Shui could potentially be the reason behind the various myths surrounding ESP, which is essentially made-up bullshit compared to a massive cavalcade of occurrences and/or circumstances within a particular environment one could use to deduce a potential outcome. Which is exactly why fortune telling and Horology is still a business to this day. :3
some people might think its strange that Jolyne or anasui didnt help..but it has a reason.Jolyne would be defeated in an instant, and anasui analized a battle to give Kenzou finishing blow
Some people really complain how much they explained what Feng Shui is, but I have to say that I really appreciate it. As someone from Hispanic america where not even their mothers knows what the heck is Feng Shui.
Here in the Philippines, Feng Shui is really popular. There's even a popular horror movie based on it. I guess this is why I didn't hate this fight. I understood the concept right away.
The stand lets you know where the most luckiest point is and where the most unluckiest point is. The issue though is being able to understand the stand being it requires a understanding of the technique like the magnitude of an area.
he probably could, but maybe he didn't know the dragon would talk and reveal so much. Also the dragon needs to be there near FF so that Kenzou or FF touch it, because of you touch the dragon then it attacks. You know like he touched with arm and it flies to FF. So i think Kenzou left the dragon near FF so she would touch it and attack herself.
I really didn't like how Kenzou gets defeated. It's too humiliating. Guy is 78, didn't have a wickedly op stand (hell it wasn't even on his side), wasn't really arrogant (only confident), takes on three stand users and get put through a humiliation conga...
Here's the thing, pretty much everyone they fight in Part 6 actually has LESS experience with their stands than the protagonists. Kenzou summoning the dragon to "defend" him is evidence. It... can't really.
Dragon Dream didn't defend him It tell him where's his lucky and where's is the bad thing will happen to him So he should defend himself by information from Dragon Dream to make sure he's safe from attack
Even though the anime cleared up a lot for this stand, I’ll still die on the hill that it’s stupid. Hey Ya! Is basically the real busted version of this stand, since it can lead the user to their goal so long as a path forward exists, and one follows its instructions to a T. It’s not invincible, because you don’t technically *have* to listen to it, and it’s not gonna save you from being surrounded or getting a bomb dropped on you, but it’s waaaay better than dragon’s shitty ass dream
@@seksaouiabderraouf2531 i know that if you have can you please explain what the whole limb thing is? pretty sure they never explained that or my brain was too far into turning into mush from binging
@@bean_man_ when you put a limb into the dragon it takes the limb and transports it straight to the unluckiest point and preforms an attack or a dangerous event in the unlucky spot
Imagine dragons dream being requiem, it’s loyal, shows the WORST luck for enemies and BEST luck for you, changes the environment to be if it you, tells the best time for you to be attacking and defending, benefits you as much as possible
Just saying dragon's dream vs wonder of u would be a intresting fight. At least if it works in regards to how I think Calamity works in the JoJo universe.
