I wanted to finish the challenge under level 50, so I had to wait for her to blow through most of her MP to avoid Ultima. The countdown starts when you've dealt more than 45000 damage to her, so make sure you get close to that and then wait for her to use Stop 14 times. For this strategy to work, you must take out the right arm and keep the left arm alive. It even inflicts Fury, which will be very handy in these final battles. Not a difficult battle, but a long and boring one.

Wouldn't the battle be faster if Mindblow was used instead of Big Shot? Unless the MP drain doesn't work in this fight...

I'll NEVER fight EVEN Carry armor even with 9999 HP 999 MP WITHOUT using KoTR on it so Still KoTR EVERY boss that FF7 has from Carry armor onwards so I still won't fight this boss WITHOUT IT Even with 9999 HP 999 MP on Cloud/Barret/Cid.

I think they're being force-spawned by cheat codes.

99% of this challenge has taken place in the area where Jessie gets stuck. That's the best grinding spot, so I just load up the bosses in random battles there.

The logic is if you aren't strong enough to kill Jenova before the countdown ends, Ultima should be strong enough to kill you. The devs either weren't sure how to not fuck up the AI so the battle continued afterwards, or they had a sense of fair play and decided you can continue onwards despite your obvious low damage.
