The graphical modes were a tough decision for me but I settled on graphics mode with TV motion interpolation (C1 oled). I am just gonna get used to the increased input lag which isn't a deal breaker for a game that plays like this.
Despite the tech issues I'm still very excited to play this. I have to agree, not releasing this on PC is a mistake. Playing FF Remake on PC with HD project mod in true 4k@120fps ruined me because I know Rebirth on PS5 will never look or perform as well as that.
Yeah, you should still be excited. The game's is quite amazing tech issues aside. There is a rumor of a PS5 Pro coming out in September of 2024, so that might be the best way to play FF7 Rebirth on a console. But yes, nothing will ever beat the PC. I have a 4090 RTX so I'd love too see how it performs and looks once the PC version is out.
Overall an excellent review, unfortunate about the graphical issues but considering the massive size, scope and art direction the game still seems beautiful overall
Yeah, the art direction are excellent. I am hoping they'll make a PS6 version with all the 3 games and all the graphical bells and whistles and run at 4k 120 fps with AI Upscaling. They would be stupid not to sell a complete package on a new gen system. Free money on the table for Square and the work is already done, just buff it up a bit.
I just watched the gold saucer part and 2 problems: A) why does the entrance to the gold saucer, upon leaving the skybucket, look like a janitors closet? Are we to assume that everyone entering the gold saucer would see this at the entrance? Weird design choice B) why was the dance part so damn cheesy? It made zero sense. How did the girls magically know all the dance moves as if they rehearsed them? B

@albelvalentine8983 I mean if there is a tower in an open world game that you have to climb in order to activate that's as Ubisoft as it's going to get lol.
I already pre-ordered the game on the PS5's PlayStation Store back in December and I'll be playing on graphics mode with the console set to 2160p so I'll be enjoying it. personally I'm more of a graphics over framerate gamer so as long as any game I play is enjoyable that's all that matters since in my personal opinion as long as you enjoy what you're playing then performance shouldn't matter.

FF7 Rebirth's performance/technicalities is a bit of a short coming therefore we have to be transparent and let people know what they are spending their money on and set their expectations to a proper level.
@@GamingInstincts I'm no stranger to games that had framerate issues but were enjoyable nonetheless. an example would be Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time where the graphics were a step above the framerate quality since on the Nintendo 64 players were locked at 30 FPS or lower since that was the technical limitations of the N64 at work.
@RevanSecura oh yeah absolutely. But at the same time that was a different era back then. Then N64 was revolutionary thanks to Mario 64 and as you mentioned Ocarina of Time. I don't think you'll see a revolution like this again. The closest thing that could come to that is when AI gets good enough to create/allow for something incredible both for gameplay and the way it handles everything on the technology/performance level.
You must be living under a rock and not have been reading reddit or have not been reading anything on the web or other social media in regards to the game's technical aspects. Game is fantastic, but the performance mode is awful.
I would honestly wait till the 3rd part is out or when they'll release the entire triple package or 1 single game pack where it's all the 3 parts in 1 go on the PS6. I would be very surprised if that doesn't happen.
@GamingInstincts First off, I like what they did with the characters, and visually, the game looks great! Combat was mostly good too, materia system was fun. The pacing is what bothered me. Sounds weird, but I could go with 8 to 10 hours less content and just have it streamlined a bit more.
@brijor6ff7 if you did not like the pacing of the first game then Rebirth might turn you off. The open world does change the pacing thought quite a bit and you can play it as you see fit. However, there is A LOT of main story stuff that might annoy you that happens in between with how it's paced out in terms of cut scenes and gameplay.
True, but sadly anything related to Nintendo is just pure gold for everyone and can and is not allowed to he critized. I believe Zelda is the most overrated franchise in existence if you ask me lol.
"A PS5 Pro version needs to come quickly" Just no. Making people get another version of the same console to play a sequel to a game because it wasn't designed properly, is a predatory practice.
That is flat-out false. It has nothing to do with whether it was designed properly or not. It has to do with technical performance and not game design. 2 completely different things. PS5 Pro is also made for people who want the extra luxury and who can afford it.
Talks about difficulty and forgets about dynamic difficulty. What i want info more than anything. Also want to know if hard mode talks your items away. That is stupid.
Anger you beat the game you do not unlock hard mode. Dynamic mode is the replacement mode and scales on the go as you play and it depends how you perform.
These stupid mini games ruin this game. I do not want to play this fort condor bullshit, or the stupid card game. Or the costa del sol bullshit. What an absolute slog. They have the nerve to lock shit behind thier bullshit mini games. I purposley fail over and over now, because the game lets you win eventually.
We need to gatekeep art from corpos AND "fans". Example. Square - "Heres a multiverse story of FF7!" "Fans"- "Durrrrrr yes pleez. We dumb and ADHD and also dont care about authenticity or mature stories. Duuurrrrr big yellow birdzzzz.

@heretic0014 square never said OG story wasn't good enough. The game was developed for the PS1 and was so big that it took 4 discs. The technology just wasn't good enough for them to create the story they originally envisioned. Fast forward to almost 30 years later (1997 to 2024) the technology has gotten good enough and enough time has past to retell the tale as the developers initially wanted too. Square said it multiple times that this gave them the opportunity to create a more complete package as far as the lore goes.
I know what you mean I wanted the original story as well, I was surprised when I played the game and it wasn't gonna be a faithful remake. It rubbed me the wrong way because I just cant see them making a better story than the original. Also they said they want to attract new players to the game but they could have just as easily got new fans in to the game by just making a pure remake and keeping all the fans of the original. But instead they split the OG fans down the middle with this multiverse story stuff. Anyway I do still want to play rebirth to see if the changes to the story are gonna be good or not.
