Took a big but very calculated risk when I bought this one, as I got it for dirt cheap, but it was coming from overseas and the person I bought it from doesn’t normally sell clocks. The clock arrived in pieces, the worst part being the center shaft, however nothing was broken or seriously damaged. After a little bit of time and effort, the payoff was so worth it.

The rust on its chimes effects the sound believe it or not. They are very finely tuned instruments and should be treated as such. I know not to paint over the rust but clean the rust off first. Sorry Idk the best way to clean them, maybe look it up online if you don't know?

I have a French 4-chimes clock that I think plays these 4. Mine needs fixed: the chime patterns in particular. The chimes on this one of yours are a bit less good, but good you've got an example of a French 4-chimer. So, you visit France and presumably can speak French?

Thank you for your comment, it’s great to hear from you again. I have not visited France but plan to one day. I also must say that I do agree, the chimes on this one aren’t the best, however I’m super lucky that I get to own one

@@Brooks_Adams Good, I'd encourage that, but you may also want to take a course to learn the French language. I've just sat my National 5 French and hope to get a good mark. I now want to study Higher French here in Scotland. My plan is to visit Paris and other areas of France one day. I LOVE their perpetual calendar clocks and you get different qualities of these. You're probably more likely to get rarer chimers at places such as Flea Markets and possibly auction houses in France.

@@Brooks_Adams Yes, gorgeous language, but good to use it properly and to SOUND French also. That's why I heartily recommend taking a course whereby you're encouraged to learn it, speak it, write it, listen to it, by doing a good, recognised qualification in it. See how that goes, then consider taking it to the next level.
