I really hope Vrtra calls in Hraesvelgr and Tiamat, then has the alchemists make bodies for them. They should be pretty interested in why we're going to the 13th. Also, Rook REALLY should play 4... PS: The Darbar set that drops in Alzadaal's Legacy is already dyeable. In the Scarmiglione fight: The music is the boss music from 4, Varshahn was the one that said "I am of the first brood". He's a dragon of the first brood. Then at an hour and 26 minutes, you had a stack up marker but weren't near the party when it went off.
The teleport menu is definitely getting unruly. Personally, I use the region tabs to focus in on where I want to go so the list isn't as long (but is still kinda long for some of the regions)
You're not overexamining things at all. I kept my party waiting because I wanted to take screenshots of all the portraits 😆 There are soooo sooo much information in the small details. And I commend you for recalling the void ark attire. I will investigate this further.
Also @Rookuri , most of the portraits have attire from the void ark or Mhach, but atleast 3 have different attire. One that looks almost monk or maby some desert attire, one that's almost Eulmore and a last one that has a very distinct big hat, almost like pirate or privateer. It is said that the void ark itself was built by the Mhachi in respons to the discovery of a coming flood. But the technology and voidsent must have come from another place. Had for example some of the Thirteenth already travelled to the source and established Mhach? It would be strange otherwise to have void ark attire appear in a picture in the Thirteenth. Also, statues in the weeping city of Mhach looks very similar to someone you will encounter in content you have yet to go through.
It used to be that with every new VILLAIN we got a "Oh no, he is hot!" moment from... certain streamers that shall remain nameless but might own this channel. Now it starts with our allies as well;-)
Rook, about your death in the Scarmiglione fight: if you rewatched the video later, everyone was near you when the stack marker first appeared, but they moved away while you stayed put, hence you took the whole attack on your own. Sometimes this happens to me too: I get so absorbed in some aspect of the fight like voice acting that I forget to pay attention to details for a moment. And yeah, the Trusts tend to move to share a stack marker in the center, it's an easy agreed upon way for them to not mess up the mechanic and kill you unless you yourself don't move to meet them. It's similar to boss fights like the second boss of Dohn Mheg where you have to spread out at one point: I've seen people complain that the Trusts were taking their spot, but really it's the player taking the NPC's programmed spot. They don't adjust to you, you have to adjust them, but they make up for it by being quite good at the mechanics. Take the final boss of Malikah for instance: Alphinaud was the only reason I was able to survive that move with the triangles that shoot light. What you were saying about sin eaters, it turns out the same thing appears to be true for Voidsent as well: lower level ones are weaker, less intelligent, and may not understand language. We know that for sin eaters, they retain their consciousness upon turning for a brief moment before turning into mindless monsters consumed by their hunger for aether. The weaker Voidsent are also drawn to serve stronger ones. And it may sound dumb but you have no idea how much it meant to me to have that crystal back, like getting a souvenir to remember Venat by.
You mentioned hand pain once. I have similar. I got a HERO mouse with lots of extra buttons: I use the mouse and thumb buttons to move and strafe, mapped the thumb trigger to shift, use mousewheel to scroll through enemies. Then I got an ortholineal keyboard, and my hotbars are 1-5, Q-T; A-G, tilde, Z-V. Shifted versions also. That way my fingers don't have to reach, I put my a, b, c combos for tank on SDF for example, and save the number row for things with long cooldowns. Now I can play a long time without pain.
I'm so happy you mentioned these! I ended up getting a similar keyboard/mouse and keeping a little mini-heated blanket to wrap my arms in on bad pain days by my computer. It's helped SO much! I've been recommending changes like these for others too because you're right, it's a game changer!
I did a little research and discovered notable alternate job/class titles: Academician (baby Alphinaud), Oracle of Frost (Ysayle), Knight/Chirurgeon/Banneret (Ishgard Military Personnel), Captain Guard (Lyna), All-Rounder (G'raha and Venat), Oracle of Light (Ryne), Sorceress (Y'shtola), Third Seat (Emet), Soulseer (Hythlodaeus), Lithomancer (Urianger), and Satrap (Varshahn). Out of all of these, Oracle of Frost/All-Rounder/Satrap are the omni-roles. Edit: technically Sorceress does duo as fake conjurer* for Fell Court of Troia here and Third Seat is either DPS or Tank.
For my own personal canon, I would say my WoL class titles are sequential: Archer then Bard then Light of the Mothercrystal then Dark Knight then Monk then Samurai then Warrior of Eclipse then Shadowbringer then Sundered Souls then Adventurer.

Hon you REALLY need to play ff4 to appreciate everything they poured into this dungeon. Seriously. There are sooooooooo many Easter eggs it’s kinda ridiculous to think about. I’m also glad I’m not the only one who literally stopped everything in the middle of mob fights to look at and appreciate the dungeon surroundings 😂 I can imagine the trusts SCREAMING at me to help and I’m all like “you guys have a tank and a healer, I can flake for a minute and look at the pretty flowers” lol I loved your reaction to Varshan all grown up too. It feels like they’re pouring on the thirst for some NPCs at times. I’ve got enough husbandos in this game at this point 😂 Varshan was just another treasure for that horde 😂😂😂

The only trick is which version to play because they’ve released it so many times and each one is slightly different 😂 it has some of the best music in the series though and a really good character roster so regardless which you play it’s going to be a great experience
I know sometimes people are going to miss on the 2nd lookaway with the 3 rings, but as a healer groups where no one even looks away from the first one drives me nuts. That's 3 GCDs on Esauna plus extra healing from the vuln stack you get when I clear the doom. So much wasted uptime. Lol.
You were right about the music used in the dungeon. Scarmiglione uses Final Fantasy 4's boss music. I was so hyped when I heard those intro notes as we charged into battle the first time. Fun fact, they also use a more somber and eerie sounding version of Troia's theme (A town in FF4) for the dungeon's general background theme. i assume you know the answer at this point, but yes its the FF4 boss music. and Troiya is a matriarchal nation in FF4 (thus why the paintings were all women). The nation itself was based around water in FF4.
I love whenever they put totally made up class/jobs for Trust party members. Sometimes they're fun to just piece together the reasoning the writers/devs picked it (Urianger being able to go in as a Lithomaner instead of Astro during the Trial Trust has been one of my fave), but also it just feels like encouragement from a roleplaying perspective that you don't have to think of your WoL strictly being whatever job/class you happen to be playing at that moment. I actually made some "Trust Banners" for my characters for that purpose cause it was just fun to make 🥰
Couldn't agree with this more! It's really liberating to see even them acknowledging that characters can have a mix of job masteries and their own unique style/abilities. Super inspiring as an rper!
So my theory is that Zero is our shard from the 13th and we're gonna care a lot about her and then they'll have us consume her at some point to power up. BIG SAD. BUT hang on! Because my theory is much longer!(only read if you like theories) Emet mentioned 5 possible future travel destinations, where one of them led us to the 13th?!? Well, we just happens to be 5 shards short of fully rejoined! What if he sent us to those 5 specific places knowing they hold passages into the rest of the reflections? "Some of the civilizations in the reflections will surprise you" he said, ever so coy. Maybe his plan is for us to get our dumb self fully rejoined.
also, I don’t know (yet) if you remembered looking into their names after the fact, but Scarmiglione, Barbariccia, Rubicante, and Cagnazzo are originally devils featured in Dante’s Divine Comedy. just mentioning it here (again) in case I’m not the only one watching these waaaaaay after the fact xD
