I don't use a security token. But setting your Home destination is basically a "free." You just have to use the Return spell instead of Teleport when you want to go there.
@@BOFH_ I lost my account BECAUSE of the fucking security token. Lost mine and Square support refused to help me, asked for a bunch of things from a home address I didn't live in anymore since I registered the account years ago. As a result, I cannot login to my old account, and Square refuses me to let me prove my identity in a manner that's not impossible.
Camera adjust: o.0 Chocobo music gone: O.O Free and reduced tele: Dammit RU-vid. I've been asking you for noob guides for weeks. Why would you hold this pure gold back from me?
keep in mind that the music is not the same for each mount, sometimes its nice to turn mount music on just to check if you like the music for other mounts.
Here's a tip from a vet, when u hover over an item in game if a vendor sells it the game shows u shop selling price. That means a basic vendor sells it. Restricted shop selling price means the vendor must be unlocked. Don't pay 20k Gil for a 100 Gil vendor item.
@@zirilan3398 Yeah you just spend a few hours farming basic mats and then make dyes people are too lazy to farm. One of the easiest ways of making money for sure. I'd say its second only to selling Levemete DoH/DoL materials
fast travel is gil capped as well, the most you will ever pay is 999 gil regardless of distance. also you can buy free travel tickets from your grand company vendor for a small amount of seals. which makes the travel free as it will use the ticket instead of gil. also early on when you need to back to the waking sands, if you set a free travel point to Limsa, then use the aethernet to the arcanist guild, and take a boat directly to vesper bay for 40gil. no more running on a mount down that long tunnel after the initial visit.
Very informative and good content, however I did die a little inside when you said Gardenia (a fragrant white flower) instead of Gridania (the forested city-state of Eorzea) lol
4:00 Without many spoilers, i'm at a point in the game where a lot of people died and i was immersing myself in the story, getting sad and all that, then i had to ride my chocobo to a different location and it immediately killed the mood with the music, thanks for showing me this option :c
I’ve been looking for easy new player tips for my friend who just started playing (because certain things I’m not very good at articulating) and the second I saw the camera tip I was like “yes yes this is the one”
Also for the people who still want to use the standard camera thing. And you need a good way out of Aoe’s. Pivoting yourself 90 degrees left or right and then pressing Q or E works for me.
You can also press left + right mouse button and turn to the direction you want to run at the same time. Usually it's pretty quick to move once you get the hang of it.
@@kathchang unfortunately it doesn’t work too well in battle, I have found that binding target on/off in key bonds does this perfectly. Not sure of the verbiage but hit me up if you can’t find it and I’ll get the specific wording.
@@Dubstepconcept oh no! that's a shame. I have trouble moving around and was really hoping this would address that! what do you mean? why doesn't it work in battle?
I've found a combination of Legacy controls and turning ON the option to automatically face your target when using an ability makes the game play so much better for me. It takes some getting used to since I had been playing WoW for years, but I love that your character will RUN instead of backpedal when you press the S key. This also lets you pull off instant cast spells and abilities while running away.
I did not know the option to not have mount music! When I started playing I reached CCH and the music is so gloom and moody that I hated the hard transition to chocobo music, I went as far as moding the game to swap the chocobo theme with the magitek walker theme to be a little less annoying. Btw, the second tick box of the legacy control is to keep standard controls while you fly or go underwater, which is a good thing because legacy camera sucks for flying.
the mount music is a good tip but just a quick note a lot of the mounts you get from trials/raids have theme specific music which is awesome. But personally i like the overworld zone music to be more immersed while just exploring. just personal preference
NOTE: the maintain camera distance under the legacy camera is a setting that affect the camera behaviour when it get's zoomed in by a wall or a closed area. Checked it will go back to the previous position as soon as it have the place to do so. Unchecked, the camera will stay as close as it got zoomed in regardless of the space available after. It will then slowly get back to the previous position as you are walking away from it. This allow you to have some smoother transition as you walk of a building or away from a wall etc :) Couldn't tell what the second option is for though Small tips from a french sprout ^^
Not going to lie it was the little "you matter" at the end that sold me for a sub and like. Great video man very clear to the point help. Keep up the great work love the vibe
Nice tips, gonna try them out. Another tip for players coming in is that this game is as casual as you are. Okay, play with the mouse and keyboard you brought from WoW or whatever, but remember that this game is on console at well. The controller is fun and casual for sitting back and relaxing especially since it’s so well optimized. I am using mouse and keyboard right now under the circumstances, but once I get my controller back, it’s gonna be casual city baby.
Omg the Chocobo music drove me and my fiancé CRAZY. We’d both groannn whenever we got on them. What a relief it was when i got my unicorn that has like jazzy music. Wish i knew earlier that i could just turn it off lol
Amazing guide! I am so glad I found this video. Used every single tip in this guide. The first tip was a huge lifesaver for me as a new player because coming from other RPGs, the movement in this game felt very clunky on character based movement and I tried changing different settings to try and alleviate that but to no avail. I didn't realize there was a legacy movement type! Really wish I saw this video a few days ago when I started!
Hey loved the video, just started recently. Just wanted to point out that your audio seemed to be pretty quiet for me, even with my volume turned all the way up. Keep up the good work, you got a sub from me 👍
Honestly, I’ve been playing for quite some time now and I didn’t know about a lot of these, like the slow back walking animation used to be so annoying when I wanted to get out of an AOE, especially during harder raids, and this video was actually really helpful even for someone who’s played quite a bit, so thanks a lot!
Often, the shortest path out of an AOE is straight ahead, directly toward the enemy. Other times, it's strafing left or right. It's almost never running directly away.
Worth noting that you can have 3 favorite teleport locations, so i always recommend having one in a big city (usually the starting one or the expansion your questing through), one wherever the Scions have their current base and one where ever you want, whether that be a location one likes, another city or any expansions daily/end-game quest hub. When i first started i dont think the mount music toggle was there... As someone who hates repetitive music and the chocobo music is a very short looped tone that lvl50-eternal-quest-chain-of-boredom-before-you-can-start-the-first-expansion-of-doom was extra horrible, whenever they say they reduce the realm reborn quests i think it's not enough... guess i'm just traumatized. Personally i also have a hidden actionbar too, just put keybindings on it and any function i feel like i want a keybinding function for but doesn't have it initially, since you can drag pretty much any mount, ability or UI function from the menus and put them on your bars. dont have all that much on it more than a sit emote (since i come from WoW and i want my sheathe/draw and sit buttons on Z and X) and mounts... also limit break, don't feel like cluttering up the bars i use with an ability that is so rarely used. ^Worth adding to that too that "shared actionbars" is which bars remains the same when you change classes and which is class specific, so if one want to put their class changing icons, crafting things and mounts on an action bar just make them shared and you don't have to redo them for every class and you can freely choose how many bars you want to dedicate to class specific things or have shared which is nice when you play multiple classes.
I really don't know why the legacy movement is "legegacy", it feels absolute superior over the standard. It basically removes the movement "debuff" you get from walking backwards. This almost feels like cheating :'D Anyway thank you very much for the video, these tips are fantastic!
Brand new player on a trial. Also a WoW current player. How in the HELL do I change the settings of the mouse?! It’s like moving mouse down you look up and vice versa. I’m running into walls LOLOL. Will I be able to unlock everything if I actually purchase the game? And new sub.
Welcome to FFXIV! To change your mouse camera settings, open your menu and click on Character Configuration. Then on the left panel click on Control Settings. Scroll down a bit and you should see a section called Camera Controls. You can click the boxes for Reverse Y-axis there. Let me know if this helped.
I've seen a ton of content related to this game. Yours was so good, I had to comment. Thank you for having taken the time to do so. Very useful. Ignore the haters.
Can I ask how do you all move run turn in ff14? Coming from gw2 where I was ab,e to lock view with left alt and free rund and turn with mouse smoothly. There i have to press and hold right mouse button to be able to do that.. already swapped QE - AD around as I don't know what real QE is used for as if you running without mouse right pressed in and try turn with Q or E, screen turns are not smooth at all compare to mouse. When you fighting, to move around without right mouse button is so confusing.. or is it just me and you have to get used to it? Anyone else always holds right mouse button in?
You will probably have to get used to it. I have the same keyboard set up as well with switching the Strafe & Turn buttons and I do primarily use the right mouse button to control my camera.
Tip I just learned that was a literal game changer for me... I have a hard time holding Ctrl or shift as a modifier to use skills on hot bars 2 and 3 . If you have a mouse with 1 or 2 buttons on the side by the thumb, download your manufacturers software (Logitech in my case). There you can remap keys to your mouse. So when I hold down the first mouse button it acts as Ctrl, and the second acts as shift. So I can switch hotbars with a simple thumb press without having to throw money at an mmo mouse.
I use the right mouse button to turn, as I have no turn key to actually press (changed A and D to strafe so I could free up Q and E for hotbar) to turn my char, so the legacy camera option doesnt actually apply to me lol. But I would recommend people do what I did, since it gives you 2 more keys close by that you can use for abilities. If you have an "mmo mouse" then thats probably not an issue for you so yeah go legacy lol. It takes a little getting used to at first, but eventually you will just start holding the RMB pretty much all the time and it feels really smooth.
Your videos are always good and chock full of good advice, however there is one thing lacking.....A video on Squadrons if it is not too much to ask? Keep doing them the way you are doing them migo, they are great!
So far the most useful guide I've seen. What I also found very useful is being able to put Gear Sets, shortcuts to things like emotes & repairs and macros on your hotbars.
Thanks for these tips im gonna try it. Hey just curious i got the chocabo battle guy but don't know where to get the greens to summon it. They said you can buy them at vendors but haven't found a vendor who sells it.
Yeah there are kinda hard to find at first. I usually go to the merchant "Bango Zango" in Limsa Lominsa Lower Deck (X:9.9 Y:11.4). Here is a link of all the merchants who sell the item. na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/eeca86f98cc/
I feel like I am the only that likes the default camera has it allows me to look around during a battle or even just running around without turning my character around. It's also useful for tanks to be able to back peddle for repositioning.
after playing wow for over 15 year the ff14 legacy mode just feels bad, maybe people got used to it due to usage but if you come from another mmo just dont use it feels extremely clunky and awkward if you are not used to it
Man, standard camera gave me whiplash as bard due to attacking while moving to dodge aoes at the same time and it made me super slow in getting out of aoes as paladin... Oh crap, it didn't occur to me about there being multiple presets/save formats for HUD! Thanks, man
Thanks for the video, I was getting annoyed by the default camera, didn't not know i could change it. Keep up the videos, just a personal gripe about them, the audio is a little on the soft side.
Great vid, just bought the complete version of this game 5 days ago and now I'm chugging along on my level 36. Thanks for the tips, the free Teleport is super dope
Teleporting fee was one of the first thing I realised. Been playing for a week and I can say that the story, from the very first moments, funds your every single teleport. I had 1000 gil at like lvl2 and didn't hesitate to teleport. Now I'm just past Heavensward at lvl65 and my FC even makes teleports cost 30$ less.. My point is, it costs nothing.
Hi! I started playing because of the new Yo-kai Watch event. I am a huge fan of Yo-kai Watch. And I've found that I really enjoy this game! Thanks for sharing friendly tips for newcomers like me!
Another trick if you do a follow-up that I actually learned in WoW - rebind your left and right turn keys to left strafe and right strafe. It takes a little getting used to but after a little practice it will seem perfectly natural.
@@NovaDragon97 I found the video that Bellular made on the topic - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q9I-AxkkqYk.html I guess it all comes down a bit to personal preference - it just feels a bit more responsive to me.
Returning player and this has refreshed my memory. Some other useful things I found out playing a new character - - Focus the main quest to complete your story line is super important, sometimes you hit a level block where you won't be able to continue the quest unless you level. There are so many ways to meet the level requirement but doing the blue quest icons will unlock useful content for your character. I would do this to meet level requirements instead of normal side quests (unless you are after specific items/goals). - Complete the "Smith" quest line. This is available from the beginning and has a baby tree icon. The Smith can be found in towns/cities including the starter town Ul'Dah. This quest line basically teaches you about the class you picked. I made a new tank and doing the Smith quest line helped me learn about my role, abilities and how aggro works in the game as well has rewards which included lvl 15 gear, exp and gil BUT it is mostly useful for a ring you get which gives you 30% bonus exp from all sources up until level 30. This is a great "straight outta character creation" quest line to get finished for faster early levels. - As mentioned in the video but I think it is a great tip, spend time on your HUD. I can't express how game changing this is, not because it's "efficient" or "optimal" but because you as a player should feel comfortable with what's on your screen. This is super handy to manage information that otherwise gets drowned in the action. - Have fun, dont worry about builds etc, really play the game you feel is best. If you want to go for the best dps, tank, healer builds because that's your way of having fun then go for it. I really recommend to stay away from build guides and figure out how the gear system works from scratch. If you find yourself at a level block where your item rating isn't improving much then maybe whip out a guide. But until then, experiment, play, have fun! Thanks for the tips and tricks!
Bruuuh.... That bag setting my god TY.... Have you considered doing a video for new players on the Map, i find it so incredibly hard to navigate... any ways nice video ty..
A further tip for the teleportation system. At 50 you can unlock The Hunt and start going after hunt targets which will give you Allied Seals at level 50 and Centurio seals at level 60 and 70. These 2 seals can be spent for older gear and other things, but more importantly they can be spent on Aetheryte Tickets which reduce a single teleport cost to 0. Sometimes teleports can be 999 gil, and using them for these bigger teleports can save you some serious gil in the long run.
