Same! I tried playing other ff games and they were ok But I am absolutely dead for this game. I am so freaking deeply attached with everything I'm this game. I have played many big title games but no one can compete with ffxv

Aye, those are good points. And you’re second point is another reason why I felt it was contrived, so thanks for bringing that up. You’re totally allowed to like it tho, and I appreciate you bringing up its flaws even though you enjoy it. Very mature.

Actually, yeah kind of. They recap the DLCs for each of them and the plot stuff with some brief dialogue added in to fit the new ending. These are episodes Ardyn, Lunafreya, Noctis, and Aranea (not in that order obvs). So they really did not touch on them and did not intend to expand on them evidently. The wedding scene was nice with them, i'll say that, but yeah...completely forgot till you mentioned them lol. That should tell you what you need to know.

I like those ideas a lot. Something I wish I would have said in my review was that episode Aranea would be a good gameplay section. Glad you mentioned that. Couldn’t agree more.

Yes. The theme itself isn't bad, and you are correct on the assessment of the books portrayal of Bahamut. If the book presented FF XV and DOTF along with its additional episodes as a whole, regardless of writing quality, it would be thematically consistent in that regard. But that's part of the problem. DOTF is supplemental material. Adding to the story should not equal changing the story. Episodes Arydn and Aranea did not change it. Episodes Luna and Noctis did. Changing the identity of Bahamut at the end undermines the investment in Nocitis's sacrifice, which is the original plot in the base game. The author completely retcons it by having Ardyn do it instead (as well as reviving luna) and presents the theme you talk about. It is inconsistent and its hard to find an actual message to the story, even if it works lore wise. This clash means neither theme gets the fleshing out they deserve writing wise and the characters win feels undeserved and contrived. Bahamut's actions do not make sense if he wanted to control Eos. He could have just let the events play out in the base game and he would easily win. What's the point of going about it the way he did? If I wanted to present the theme of not being controlled, I would have definitely focused on Ardyn character almost in entirety, not on Noctis. Heck, I would have done it anyway because Ardyn is the best written character in FFXV. Im sorry this is so long winded and it reads a lot harsher than I actually mean, I promise lol. But the point is, I agree that the theme is there, is good, and has merits, but its not done well or given full attention here in my opinion. As supplemental material, the theme cannot stand on its own as FF XVs original theme is different. DOTF is retconing, not expanding the universe or story for that theme to coexist with its original. I'm sorry you had to read this lol. It's okay if you really like the book. I like some parts of it, and enjoyed the FFXV + its playable DLC, so I'm criticizing it as a fan.

Thanks. I believe I may have stated my opinion too bluntly in the beginning, and should've explained that I also really like FFXV's initial story (also, my lame vegan joke probably lol). I'm not some weirdo who's against happy endings. Its mainly how they did it. For something that's supposed to be supplementary, it pretty much retconned the game plot, which is the main medium in how you'd experience the story. But you're right, what's done is done.

If it really is their favorite, I would say yes. Even if they find the story to be lackluster, the concept artwork in the book is phenomenal. It isn’t my favorite game, I still like having it. And Ardyns story is a great reread too. However, if they really liked the original story’s motifs and themes, this might disappoint them in some regards, as is the case when I read it. But obviously if that happens, they aren’t going to blame you lol.

Pretty much. There were parts of FFXVs gameplay wise that I didn't care for, but I definitely enjoyed it. Episode Ignis is a particular highlight of the game for me.

Versus never existed. Its 15. You think versus is better because it didn't exist. If it doesn't exist, it can't disappoint you. Its eye rolling how many seriously cling onto an idea that never existed and over praise it.

@@delsingray5923 All DotF does is try to use elements of VsXIII and accommodate them back to the XV contradicting the lore set within the base game. Versus was in instance more ideas and concepts than anything real beyond the trailers. Yes, there are recorded vocals and dialogue from an early stage of the game when Nomura was in charge, Noctis' seiyuu said so. But the inconsistency of the leaks and how little we know about the game gives us an idea of how little had been achieved from the original. So much so that in the data game of XV there is nothing of VSXIII. In fact there is more cut or unused content of XV itself than of versus.
