FG Knot With Rizzuto Finish Lock, Smallest & Strongest Braid to Leader Knot

Man. The only knot I use. No need to buy bobbin or whatsoever. Plus very easy to do. Thinnest of all so it doesn't affect casting. Thank you.

Made it look so easy. I usually tie my fg leader at home before a outing. If i'm on the water and need to tie a leader it's usually a uni-uni because it is fast and easy. I need to practice how to tie it the way you do it and maybe I won't have to go back to the uni-uni. haha

After your 20-25 wraps of braid around fluoro you need to do at least 1 half hitch & with line tensioners or gloved hands pull with serious pressure on both braid & fluoro to get braid to bite into fluoro which will make a slight color change in the braid when sufficiently tightened. Thats a pretty critical step in this knot. After that clip tag end of fluoro about 3/16 away from knot & alternate half hitches with braid around both till you reach the mushroomed end of fluoro (done with a lighter) next continue with another 6 or 8 alternating half hitches on braid around braid...THEN do your rizutto finish. A dot of glue just on the whipping ( not the entire knot) will ensure nothing ever comes undone. While the GT knot seems to win the strength test the fg seems to be favored by every deckhand Ive talked to. Some say fg for jigging. For casting I like the jansek special fast easy 100% strength knot - tag end through eye twice creating 2 loops in line. Tag end through the 2 loops 3 times. Wet & draw tight. Done. Never failed yet. You will know you tied it right when tag end sticks out at a 90 degree angle from mainline & the knot looks like a neat small tight fist.

Im now a fan of the royal polaris knot as I can get it to lock far better in far less time & it is very small. Yes the fg is good but even with tensioners the braid sometimes does NOT bite into the fluoro in a uniform manner - up near the half hitches it opens a bit even after serious tension on 2 half hitches. RP knot locks far more regularly.

the great thing about this version of the FG knot is that the knots from the half hitches dont hit the guides and become frayed and eventually unravel...I love the FG but that has always been an issue after a hard day of fishing but with that being said even with the regular FG never have had one break as long as you check your leader....I will be trying this one!! well executed many variations on this knot. As should be done, you tightened it well b4 your uni and the reverse wrap of the uni was very clean. Only seen 1 other do this. Nice.

Inmy experience if you dont really tighten up the the hitches to grab onto the leader before you used the Rizutto finish that you run the risk of it slipping. its what i have seen from guys that say the the FG knot doesnt work. once you teach them to tighten the knot they have no more problems

...setelah dicoba ternyata “TIDAK BERGUNA” Rizuto knot dalam pemakaian sehari-hari,selalu lepas kuncian tak berguna tsb! malah kuncian half loop yg bolak-balik spt biasa yg terbukti bagus 🙏

simpul nya sh kuat tp ada minusx jg hasil finishing simpul membentuk gumpalan yg agak besar, sehingga gumpalan simpul itu menjadi hambatan saat simpul msuk ke dlm kolong ring joran, trus lama2 simpul pengunci itu pun jd kendor dan simpulx terbuka karna bergesekan dgn ring joran (ini cma pengalaman pripadi sya saat pakai simpul itu)

Done everything right, and I agree nail clippers are the best/easiest to trim leader and braid BUT when you held that lighter so close to the FG without wetting the FG or squeezing it to protect it you scared me!

the first few coils on your FG did not bite down on the mono as they did not change colors..best to pull the knot tight after first half hitch...

This type of FG knot is completely the same with mine, unless the addtional half hitch on the last line before cutting it to avoid fluffy finish like that. It can slipped into the rizzuto finish.
