FG Sportsline 2WD VS 4WD - What are the differences?

I received the base for my next project, another largescale onroad car. It's an FG Sportsline 2WD 530, that comes as an ARTR version. I explain what is and what isn't delivered in the kit, and highlight the differences between the RTR (Ready to Run) and ARTR (Almost Ready to Run) versions. Also, as I already own a FG Sportsline 4WD, I will go into some of the differences that exist between the two- and fourwheel drive versions.
Both are great models, and eventhough the electronics in the ready to run version are of great quality, my curiosity to try out some new brands of servos has taken over. The ARTR 2WD will allow me to customize my electrics setup, run my own radio, and get a battery of my own preferance. As an entry class, the RTR would be the car of choice. The more seasoned RC enthusiast will most likely opt for the ARTR.
Both models have a wide range of setup possibilities and noticable advantages and disadvantages when compared. Both are made with an equally high quality standard, and I try to capture the level of craftsmanship with an in depth overview of both platforms.
Make sure to subscribe to see what the 2WD will turn into, so far I can reveal this much: it will pack a true punch, will represent an icon of it's era, and will be unlike any RC you have ever seen before!

Hi Isaiah, the TrailFinder 2 is a great truck for scaling. Keep in mind that you need to get servos, radiogear and an ESC plus a motor to get it running. Depending on what your budget is, an RTR may be a better choice, and there Axial has some great options too. Good luck!

If you were to run these on 8s electro engines. Would you recommend 2wd or go with 4wd to keep the power manageable

The difference in the front suspension arms are - One is called a "J Arm" and the other is called an " A Arm" - The application of J Arms is so you can run multiple or larger diameter shocks.. 99% of Trophy Trucks run J Arms because they need enough room to run a massive coilover and a bypass shock together for the same wheel. This J Arm application for a 1/5 on road car is just a poor design and likely a compromise for a bad shock tower mounting location and/or that top plate with the cable guides.

I guess the 4wd handles better. How is the 2wd to bash with? I'm gonna build one but not sure if I should go for the 4 or 2wd. I'm edging towards 4wd

Man I'm 15 years old and just got in to rc. Got a Traxxas 2wd stampede vxl and love. I want a scale truck but need to get a job. Thinking about the rc4wf trail finder is it a good starter for scale.

Hey Chris, - Another fine video... Thank you. I have a question.... I am looking to buy a tourer for next year, but currently have limited knowledge. When I saw the title to this video, I was hoping you would discuss a bit about the advantages and disadvantages of how a 2wd and 4wd car handles on a track. I have no idea whether I should be researching more on 2wd cars or 4wd cars. The tracks in the UK are normally quite small and tight. Can you explain a little how the two will handle differently when racing? Thanks! Jason@ARC
@hemistormrc
@hemistormrc 10 лет назад
Hi Jason! If you want excellent handling, no doubt about it, get the 4wd. The 2wd is really a handful and needs to be perfectly tuned, to get around corners in the hands of a veteran RC enthusiast. In racing, the lack of 4wd means less parts, less weight and faster lap times. For us amateurs however, I recommend the 4wd. Tons of grip, 4-wheels drifting and very forgiving. Talk soon bud!

Excellent video. I am convinced with the 4wd. Question, did you have any issues, I saw a guy needing to scrap recheck everything.
@hemistormrc

The chassis is pretty basic, so giving it a once over shouldn't be too difficult. FGs are solid cars!

What type of engine break in is required can you give me details please.
@LargeeeScaleLife
@LargeeeScaleLife 4 года назад
Anthony Smith for most of these gas powered 1/5 scale’s you will want to run good gas and good quality two-stroke racing oil such as that for a dirtbike I mix mine at 25 to1 for the 1st gallon and then 28 to 1 after that I run them for about four heat cycles of about 15 minutes each allowing it to cool down in between each after that I will run it at very low speed’s either around a parking lot or yard depending on whether it’s on or off road at low speeds for about 15 minutes each and do this three or four times I will run it very lightly until I run at least one tank of fuel through the car I run mine at no more than 75% abuse until I have at least two tanks of fuel through it after that you can pretty much rip on it the more breaking you do the better the life of your motor will be don’t rush it and make sure your tuning is on point to rich it will run like crap to lean you will blow the motor up
