I know the music combined with the start in the end is simply for the show and to make it more exciting and some say that this is artificial BUT IN FACT I was quite excited about the start and I think it is very futuristic. And for those who are judging or complaining about this whole series. I don't quite understand why?! There are so many Racing Series out there and this one here doesn't do any harm. If people and investors want to invest money in it - then great. It is none of your business. It is something new...and for some this is really exciting. ...
My only complaint about the series is the mid-race car change. It underlines the limitations of battery life in a way that I think is counterproductive for the series' purpose - keep in mind that it can only help improve the tech if it sticks around, and it has to impress people in order to do so. It would be far better to use battery stacks that could be swapped out inside of 90 seconds and do proper pit stops to change them - and that CAN be done while keeping the same range these cars are geared towards.
DBoy02 my thoughts too... changing a battery would be like refueling, and that way, races can last longer and tires can be changed too... I know this series is new, but it lack the excitement of a real open-wheel race
***** Another concern may be speed - The supposed goal for the cars was speeds in the range of Formula 3(which sounds perfectly reasonable to me), but the speeds of the Donington test were only a couple seconds faster than the WTCC lap record. I think that's gonna harm the excitement a bit as well, but I've also heard they're not going to be at full output until the last test before the season begins, so....We'll see.
I understand all of your concerns but in fact I only read bad and concerning opinions instead of being excited about a new technology. I mean it is just the start of a new racing series...obviously not everything can be perfect but I'm sure with time things will get better and better
the reality is that one day all racing series will sound something like this... overall it's a good thing because it's either that or no more racing one day, but... I think we're all going to miss the sounds we have now, so we've got to enjoy them while we have them
Love the idea, am i convinced, not really, but i could be wrong, i hope this racing series shocks me, and if i like it, i will go and see it in Loindon for round 10, i will give it a go
They will be playing music during the races according to the tanoy guy. My only assumption is to create atmosphere, they said they want it to be a sensory experience with music being heavily involved throughout the racing, like you might get on a computer game
I feared you would say that. I feel the Emperor's hand at work here. Bernie is obsessed with the events being "loud". My biggest fear was that they would treat the start like the start of a computer game race, I'm horrified to hear they are going to do this throughout the races. Modern computer orchestra's can be played on the fly by a simple "emotion slider" a technology originating from non linear video games. You can hear it at work clearly during the start sequence. As an Engineer myself I want to hear these complex machines at work. The FIA should perhaps invest in some advanced sound recoding technologies to make the most of these machines hum. All that aside, cant wait to get into the future of motor sport!
Well the cars are looking pretty nice aside from those huge rims, but the sounds is a car racing fans nightmare. Purely set up for PR reasons, lot's of "this is the future" ... but does this category still exist in 10 years time? I actually dare to doubt it...
Nice looking toys but boring to listen to! Good they are racing in cities at least because this field circuits makes no sense for such quiet experience lol
Boring or what. Who the hell is going to watch this bollocks? If anyone you know has invested in this... get their money out quickly. This is going to be a total turkey.
