Audio recorded with an iPhone in the engine bay then synced to dashcam. What is this weird sound my car engine is making? It sounds like a metal scraping sound. I have changed the oil and spark plugs but it made no difference. Before I made this video, I tested switching the engine off down a hill to see if it was the brakes maybe or wheel bearings. They were not the issue. As soon as I switched the engine back on the sound appeared. The scraping sound is not constant either.
Car is on original clutch at 109,000 miles. I first noticed it when the car was stationary on my drive. It was idling and then just started this metal scraping sound. Any clues?
If I sit at idle and change between neutral and gear 1 the sound changes.
