Another great video - I think your attention to detail is so important and not many people working on these cars go to that level of detail - it really makes a difference.
@marksitaliangarage
@marksitaliangarage 2 года назад
We aim to please. Yes it’s all in the detail ! I love original untouched cars so on these restorations I try to build that originally back in. I see so many cars where this is missing flashy and shiny but with no soul. It takes a lot more than shiny paint to make a good restoration.

Very interesting. If nothing unexpecting happens I will soon be the owner of a '68 coupe in exact the same colour.
@marksitaliangarage
@marksitaliangarage 2 года назад
Excellent news. A 68 is a series two car. In many ways it is an improvement over the series one . There is a theory that the FIAT Dino was lacking in development when new and the series tow cars were more what was planned. But I think it’s probably just how things were done back then . I think that the more exotic Italian stuff was always released to the public in a woefully under developed state. Good luck with your new Dino !

I’m an Alfa guy but a good friend has a 2.0 Dino coupe. Beautiful car and will forward this to him. Nice work!

Thank you. If you are an Alfa guy then you should watch the Alfa Romeo 1900 super films. We are using it for the Mille Miglia next week. So it’s Alfa films this month !

Fabulous videos and I'm loving ROMA, such a beautiful car. Agree with you that the grille is an outstanding design and really looks superb, far better than the later type. Going to have to start looking for a good early 2 litre coupe soon!

Another excellent video thanks Mark. Roma is such a beautiful car, and a credit to your craftsmanship. Like you, I can't get enough of the beautiful grill and the front end, unique, apart from a Gordon Murray :-) , but then again the Coupe is a beautiful car from any angle! Keep up the good work!

Thank you. ROMA was a lot of work but very rewarding. I am lucky to be able to do work that I love. It’s wonderful to get these lovely old cars back to how they should be.

I remember seeing the Fiat Dino's advertised in 'Road & Track' in the for sale section......$3,000, $4,000 something like that. I wanted one then (but didn't have a drivers license - and feeling like I want one now. Coupe or Spyder, either way. Great video(s).
@marksitaliangarage

You should get one ! All types are wonderful cars but get a good one. Very expensive to restore a bad one.
@markmcclelland5712
@markmcclelland5712 2 года назад
@@marksitaliangarage At some point for sure, I have picked up on that from your video's (good/bad) and it doesn't seem like there is much middle ground. Reminds me a lot of the BMW 3.0 CS/L's, many look great from the outside but get a little under the skin and - not so good, very expensive to repair/restore.

excellent video, Do you know may be what was the last VIN number for the end of serie 1 of Dino coupe 2000 ? i tested tone Dino coupe from 67 with win 00041 , i think very early model it was.

I don’t know when the change from S1 to S2 occurred or even if it actually happened in one go. It might just have been small changes over a period of time. The 1967 run was 000026 to002137 and certainly the 1968 cars are S2 from what I have seen. 1968 was 002138 to 003654 . The first 25 cars were used for development then crash testing .

Finally a detailed look at the mud trap behind the front guard. Thanks. Question. Under the roof drip rail is there an added stainless steel and rubber mould? My S2 coupe had one and I have left it off.

@@leighmadsen420 Ok the 2400 has a totally different type of door seal arrangement. I am referring to the S1 & S2 FIAT Dino 2000 coupe and Spyder in this video. The 2400 is different in so many ways to the 2000. It’s quite well known that there is a S1 and S2 Spyder 2000. But it’s not well known that the Coupe 2000 also had this update to S2 . So S1&S2 Spyder &Coupe 2000. Then a total redesign for 2400 Spyder & Coupe.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called "BABVVO".
