First common rail diesel system created by Fiat and Magneti Marelli at 1993 ❤️ first world's diesel engine by common-rail car is 1997 Alfa Romeo 156 2.4 JTD. All companies (TDCI, TDI, CRDI, DCI, CDI, CDTI, HDI, D4D etc.) that cause the diesel engine to develop so well are morally indebted to Fiat. If Common Rail had not been developed in the 90's, diesels would be far behind, and gasoline engines would be far ahead. The potential of diesel engines is the "common-rail", the biggest weapon to catch up with gasoline engines. Thanks Fiat ❤️

Add to your point..after common rail system dev Fiat was in bad financially condition and sold this common rail sys to Bosch and they kind of supplied to all major players. It's nearly impossible to have a new diesel engine without Common rail system these days. It's almost every where.

Der Ducato, den ich längere Zeit auf der Arbeit gefahren bin lief laut Tacho auch über 180. Per GPS Messung kam dann aber, wenig überraschend, raus, dass das eigentlich knapp unter 160 Km/h waren. Was aber für einen vollgepackten Van natürlich vollkommen ausreichend ist.

@@paulallen8109 150hp is plenty and quite avarage number these days, but surely not a lot. Carrying capacity in these are approx. 1500kg, which will have notable impact on vans performance and many are even driven outside the city, where you need to overtake bigger trucks etc. Many brands offers vans with 200+ hp engines. Hell, Vito could be had with 204hp Diesel engine in 2006, that’s 15 years ago.

@@Aukes84 How many of those do you see though? 99% of goods vehicles now barely scrape past 140bhp. Sprinters, Crafters, Ivecos, Masters, Ducatos etc all have around 140 and rarely exceed it.

What I like a lot about this car is that it has really long gears. It does 180 kph in 6th gear at just about 3000 rpm. Meanwhile, my parents Opel Combo revs to about 4500 RPM at 140 kph. Low revs make it seem like the car is struggling less with these speeds, and it's for sure less annoying.

Well, these modern common rail direct fuel injection turbo-diesels are remarkably adaptive to how you drive them. For instance if you're driving at really high speeds the ECU adapts the mixture to an optimal level and as much air is sucked in as possible. On top of that diesels are built to be really robust and not rev too high so you can take them above their "design level" and discover they can faster than you expect them to.

Cars not designed to go fast, or designed for practicality or frugality (good fuel economy) is a lot more impressive when they go fast than insanely tuned premium cars. I once rode in a Nissan diesel van which my cousin was driving on a highway. According to the factory this van has a 132km/h top speed. He was driving it at 160km/h and was tailing hot hatches, executive cars and even motorcycles at one point. It was CRAZY. But we were hollering and shouting how fast we were going in that diesel van.

There’s a version with over 200 ps, used for campers. It’s always fun to pass other with it. At 190 the windows get sucked open snd it gets loud, but it won’t slow down 😁

@@tomtheraton3058 yeah. Petrol V6 with an automatic. The "ram promaster" is the US variant. The same parent company owns fiat and ram. I would buy one of these so fast if I could get one with a manual.

Nobody bought it, the problem is these vans are largely used for delivery service and the slow speed and on-off cycles causes issues with the DPF. Sales are pretty low here anyway, people buy the Transit, Sprinter, and even the old GM vans ahead of the Promaster.

Die Teile haben aber auch eine enorme Tachovoreilung. 180 entspricht echten gefahrenen 165. Trotzdem für einen Transporter nicht übel. Allerdings hier war er unbeladen, in Wirklichkeit mit einer guten Tonne Zuladung dürfte auf der Autobahn am Berg bei 120-130 Finito sein.

Top speed from those Models is 165. they are all limited. No matter if it‘s a 2,3 or a 3,0Engine. By my Citroen Jumper i removed the limiter, software 250hp( it‘s the 3.0Diesel 177hp), and it runs 204 GPS. More is not possible, because L4, and H2.

They are not limited. Maybe at your place. I have two Ducato one 2.3 180hp and one 3.0, a Citroen Jumper with a 2.0Hdi 162hp and a Peugeot Boxer with 3.0. All bought new. But they are not limited.

@@cristianseibriger799 they are limited. At any place. The speedo is wrong. My 2.5L Master with 114hp is faster, because it runs 175, and the Jumper/Ducato/Boxer is limited to 165. Every Transporter at this size is limited at 160-170km/h. VW Crafter, Sprinter, Daily. They all reach nearly the same speed.

@@bv5813 you idiot, i have a Ducato, 2Citroen Jumper All 3.0Diesel They are limited at ~170, which is 185 on speedo 170km/h is gps speed, and then you are driving against a wall. You feel that this thing can go faster, but it‘s electronically limited. Look at Fiat Papers, or at the Internet. I did a stage1 on my vans, which includes the v-max release, and 220hp. Now!, it runs real 190/195. Every Van is limited at 170-180km/h. It depends on the factory at which speed.

Before you say WOW.... There is a fast way actualy you can check the avg speed from the video. The km signs besides the road... For 180km/h you need a 20 sec run over 1km. If you check he was doing 22sec... So supposing video is on normal speed it was around 165 km/h (21,81sec) which is around factory end speed value for this van. Nothing special here.

1. Did you count those seconds *yourself* or use an accurate timer? 2. How did you manage to time the passing of the signs from *inside* when that is the *worst* place to time something? To get it somewhat accurate a person needs to stand on the side of the road. 3. 165km/h is still 15km/h *faster* (10%) than the top speed of 150km/h claimed by the factory. Also, there is no way a speedometer will show 20-25km/h higher top speed. So what part was your timing?

I work on a L4 Jumper, it has 220K Kms, those things drive very very differently depending on either they are full or empty. When empty you would be shittin ur guts in those speeds. When full oh! it's a joy to drive. By the way I fill it daily with 6500Kgs of goods :D yep! heard it right. I crossed huge deserts with it. I trust it a lot. These are words from a mercedes w123 owner so..
