How can 1.8 be slower than 1.6? Probably it was uphill or something. Also 2.0 should make it in arround 8 secs

The early gearchange is some of the reason, too. They were doing a good job of extracting all of the power from the 1.6.

Lasanha fivetech,here in Brazil the fiat Marea has a lot of fans include the mechanics....LOL 2.4 20v and 2.0 20v turbo gasoline ?

I owned two 2 litre 20v models which I loved. Really fast but shoddy build quality.

1.6 16V is as fast as 2.0 20V and faster than 1.8 16V ?

There's is something wrong with the numbers. Mainly between the 1.6 and 2.0, or the 1.6 too fast and 2.0 too slow or something is wrong

@@redlineacceleration3289 He was talking about the Brazilian versions. Fiat had the gasoline 2.4 (same unit from the Lancia Lybra) w/ 160 hp and 2.0 Turbo (same from the Coupe Turbo) w/ 182 hp offered here.

Brazilian versions was the most unreliable of Marea, cause the JTDs and the 1.6 & 1.8 are good enought, but Fiat made a very complex and hard to mantain versions to Brazil of the controversial "fivetech", a bad choice in my opinion To compete with Ford, GM and japonese brands in the midsize segment the most adequate engines was the 4 cyl
