Old humor often doesn't age well, but a lot of the jokes in this episode really held up great! Cleverness lasts a lot longer than the war these folks tried to prepare themselves for.
I don't doubt rationing helped during ww2, but I wonder if it was as necessary to ration to the extent they did, or if it was a way of controlling the people.
