Really Patty you have brought back so many memories from my childhood of how I got started with crafts. I remember the metal loom and hook. I had the Knitting Nancy too and of course my MOM was into everything imaginable. Even today at 92 my MOM looks amazing and I just saw some DT projects she did with decopauge. I just started a small embroidery project something I haven't done in about 40 years. I love your slow stitch journals and I'd love to do one. Thanks for the fun time and was good to see miss TT meowing again.

For cross stitch, you are right about keeping the stitches in the same direction. When it comes to how far to carry threads, I have a personal rule that if it's more than two stitches, I will tuck it under something if I'm traveling to a different spot. If the need to travel is longer than cutting and starting, then I'll end the thread and start again in the new area. I like to keep my backs relatively neat so they don't snag on anything, but others don't care about it so much as long as the front looks good. Everyone does it a bit differently, and you will eventually figure out how you like doing things. It was fun to see your progress!

Howdy, Rebecca! Oh... thank you so much for all the cross stitch info. I'm not to worried about how the back looks... it's going to be sewn onto a journal cover. But I would love to make less knots on the back... they seem to get in the way. I just... I should say... FINALLY... watched my first ever cross stitch video on ways to start off without a knot. I had not heard of a Knitting Nancy until you showed this one, in the other video where you started it. You have so many projects!! Love your possum-abilities!! You'll get it done!! Loved hearing TiTi meowing so loudly!! Littleson woke up and even listened. Then he yawned and went back to sleep. That's cats for ya!! Your trip seeing the lighthouses should be interesting!!

titi is just so pretty x was that a floating house?ive never used a knitting nancy,looks cute x oh the unicorn fabric is rather special isnt it.i love the rainbow fabric.your cross stitch is definately going to be a labour of love but will be so worth it,i think for neatness you are supposed to tie off and move over rather than jump,but i would do the same as you have,im not a neat cross stitcher lol.your slow stitch journal is just gorgeous 💗i love the sketch and stitch journal too.beautiful bag too.

I had bought a similar loom with a handle that you keep turn to make the cord. The kit I got was for making what I think they called frogs which I though would make nice decorative closure for a journal.

To start a project you fold it in half then half the other way. That is where you start. You don't tie knots you go under stitches to secure it. Depends on how far you have to jump. If it's short it's fine If it is a ways then cut it. You save thread that way

There is really no wrong or right way to do it. I usually do what you are doing. I hate having to do a couple of stitches and then stop, tie off, and then have to figure out where to start again. I also start my thread in such a way that I don't have to tie knots at the beginning, but if I have to stop before the thread ends, then I will have to tie off the next one. I tend to go with the flow. Do what comes natural to you. BTW...I am about to do a summer journal. I am not intimidated now and I have a great idea on what to do. I'll have to put a pic when it's done. Thank you so much for your encouragement.

I usually use a round hoop to help with the tension and usually not to “jump” over too far if I could help it. My eyesight is bad now so I can no longer enjoy cross stitching as much.

I could not do that cross stitch, it's to difficult for me!!! I remember having a knitting Nancy but mine was just a round wood piece and nails. Love both your slow stitch journals, they look like fun! Turn sure was having a good time out there, wasn't she? Can't wait to see the light house video!!! Hugs and❤
