Great review, helped me to choose laser and not to overpay. Thanks!

Wow ... this is really impressive! I bought a cheap Chinese laser engraver a few years ago, which more-or-less does what they advertised, but it's never been very useful because it just doesn't have much power. And the software sucks (like it does for most Chinese products.) Being able to quickly and easily etch metal, particularly pcb material, makes this device a LOT more useful, especially considering its accuracy. I won't be able to afford this any time soon, but it's definitely worth keeping in mind.

Ha yes ... I fell in the rabbit hole of fiber lasers a few days ago ! What power ? 20W, 30W, more, what brand of laser source ? JPT, Raycus, ... What type ? MOPA or Q , etc etc ... For instance, what I would do is : Check in your country if a company builds fiber lasers. The parts are standardized: everybody uses the same, the only difference is quality of the wiring/switches/connectors, brand of power supply used, and customer service. You might get a good warranty and customer service from a local company for the same price. Or if you don't care about that, you can find a considerably cheaper, generic machine on all the well known web marketplaces. Personally I have my eye on the used market, I found several people selling good machines, barely used, because they started a business but stopped 1 year later. Good luck !

I would like to see more PCB etching and perhaps cutting with it, can it also cut trough FR4? For fast prototyping this would be awesome.

Here’s a thought: You can use these to burn of aluminum anodizing to make light letters against a colored background, but… The colors on metals comes from oxides that form from the heat of the laser. Anodizing makes a porous oxide on Aluminum that can then absorb dyes to give the bright colors (or black) 0:02 we associate with anodized aluminum. It probably wouldn’t be porous, but would it be possible to grow a thicker oxide on Aluminum with multiple passes at lower power, that you could then color with anodizing dyes? It’d only work if the oxide was porous, but I wonder?…

Well done video on this Laser. However looking at the practical use, it has only a small work area. As the laser is reflected by mirrors, it is not always perpendicular to the workpiece only in the center). Meaning the cut will be at a considerable angle at the outer ends. Therefore I consider it's use is for engraving only. Still intresting to see this is available on the market. Also I would recommend a light blocking enclosure for safety.

Galvo scanners use something called F-tetha lens to solve the perpendicularity issue. Look it up. But yes, those galvo lasers have a small working area and are usually best for engraving, not cutting. The are gantry system with fiber lasers though.

IR laser, open build... It is disturbing how little is spoken about safety here. There is SO MUCH, which can go wrong with such a system. Knowing how people treat UV resins, FDM print particle emissions, this is another grade of dangerous, which I would not recommend to anyone. Simple things, such as kid running into the room, forgetting to put the glasses on, random software bug, human error and you burned your retina permanently. It can be one stray beam off a dust particle or metal surface... Having worked with IR lasers, even if you know the physics and dangers, I want you think thrice before buying any system without multiple redundant safety mechanisms! RU-vidrs rarely warn you about such hazards but it will be your accident and your health on the line when you buy the "story".

This is not the first time this YTr have completely neglected the safety of these IR laser even after several comments about it. This is way dangerous than misleading people.

I have seen online video a very powerful laser that can instantly remove rust it do not need safety glasses at all because it is operated in ir range

This is an interesting laser. It appears to have the potential to make a PCB by burning off the copper. I'm thinking from your comments that you might be making a follow-up video doing that. I look forward to seeing that video if that is the case. It would be great to have a quick way to manufacture a local prototype PCB.
