Pool installation was recorded via time lapse over the course of 3 weeks. We had to contend with a minor weather delay a few times due to several Tropical Storm threats in September and October but the contractor did a fantastic job completing this build very quickly and professionally!!

PS - before you comment about my spelling of the plural noun for the word roof and make yourself look more ignorant - please either reconsider whether you really need to comment, or look up the definition. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy. If not, oh well. 😳😊
*** This video is dedicated to my loving father who tirelessly assisted and supervised to make sure the entire process went smoothly and kept the construction crew on their toes….I Love you Dad!

Without a $2500.00 chiller the water gets warm in the summer but fortunately we are almost 30” above average on rain for the year, so our daily air temps have remained in the 80°’s. But it has been fabulous!! Thanks for commenting!

Great looking finished product. We’re getting a Latham fiberglass pool also but they postponed our delivery date bc of “raw materials availability” was yours installed on schedule or did y’all experience any delays?
@Eric-yc9kt
@Eric-yc9kt 3 года назад
The only delays we experienced were due to other pending jobs the contractor had prior to starting ours. Along with covid delays from the original manufacturer in TN, which was actually a blessing, because we were able to get the pool we originally wanted, built and shipped from Louisiana which saved us over $5k in shipping cost since we live only 200 miles from one of the Latham builders in Louisiana. - Thanks for watching and commenting!

Yes. It would have been a little less expensive if I would have opted for traditionally brushed concrete and the original concrete layout. I expanded the footprint and went with the stamped concrete. Love it!!! Thanks for the comment and thank you for watching!

I get myself every time. I see the markings for the dig on the ground and think wow that is small until dirt comes out and people go in. It never looks that big until people are walking in the hole.

Being built for and in a small(ish) back yard, my thoughts were the same, that it looked like we were paying a lot of money for an oversized garden pond - until it was completed. It has been perfect for our yard and exactly what we wanted!! We love it! Thanks for watching and commenting!!

May I ask the size of your back yard? I'm just planning mine so want to make sure I don't get too big of a pool for the space :)
@Eric-yc9kt
@Eric-yc9kt 2 года назад
Full dimension of the yard is 30’x55’ but that is the entire yard. Where the pool and concrete decking is once complete is 16’x 30’. The actual pool itself is 10’x20’. Thank you for watching and good luck on your pool. We could have gone larger but the initial issue was that the builder didn’t think they’d be able to crane it over the house and access to the yard without craning was limited. I will say, as my kids are getting older and moving on…I’m glad I went with the size we did.

Did they use sand to backfill... :o Our fiberglass dig date is tomorrow!
@Eric-yc9kt
@Eric-yc9kt 2 года назад
Yes - because of the dense soil conditions here sand was used and washed for 2 days to ensure proper settling beneath the pool and on the sides and under the steps and ledge. When I asked about them not using gravel, the contractor stated that gravel doesn’t wash as solid and can leave voids causing instability. The fine sand used settles like concrete with no room to erode beneath. Thanks for commenting.
@travismurphy1538
@travismurphy1538 2 года назад
@@Eric-yc9kt Ah. Where are you located? I was always worried about the sides bowing in from the sand.
@Eric-yc9kt
@Eric-yc9kt 2 года назад
@@travismurphy1538 southeast Louisiana. The sides won’t bow because as the sand is washed it becomes very compact and this is done while the pool is filling so there is essentially equal pressure. Some installers swear that only crushed limestone should be used and will never use sand because they worry about erosion. My contractor has been doing this for over 15 years with no issues, and specifically mentioned that he doesn’t like crushed limestone or other rock because it doesn’t wash or compact and can leave voids that will allow the pool shell to flex. Made sense to me and I guess time will tell.

How long did it take?
@Eric-yc9kt
@Eric-yc9kt 2 года назад
from dig to swim - 20 days....would have been roughly 12-15 days, but we had a few weather delays. Thank you for watching and commenting. 09/17 to 10/07 - as soon as I placed the last piece of sod, my son and I jumped in. You'll see in the video that someone came out on the afternoon of the 8th to replace the deck jet nozzles with adjustable nozzles. The process was so simple, albeit MESSY - - I am very OCD and the dirt EVERYWHERE in and out of the house was killing me. - I couldn't imagine having to deal with the prolonged mess from having a gunite pool installed.

How big is that pool?
@Eric-yc9kt
@Eric-yc9kt 3 года назад
10' x 20' depth is 3'2" - 5' (www.lathampool.com/products/jamaica/) - Could have gone a little bigger, but wanted green space for my boxer - and initially didn't think we would be able to crane the shell over the house, so getting it into the back yard was originally an issue - - WE LOVE IT!!

@Eric-yc9kt
@Eric-yc9kt 3 года назад
@@rendroidz4680 $33k. Of course “2021 COVID pricing” has caused prices to increase. I still think it was worth it compared to gunite, which in my area would have been roughly 40-45k - I heard Latham increased their fiberglass shell pricing by 6%. I looked on my contractors website for the same pool - now costs $36+ but that is for everything - pool, equipment, concrete, permits, electrical etc…

@Eric-yc9kt
@Eric-yc9kt 3 года назад
Would have been over $46k for the same size gunite which requires a lot more maintenance - and its for a small yard. so to each his own, and it was worth it for the purposes for which it was intended! @@Eric-yc9kt Did that include a sump pump and the grass?
@Eric-yc9kt
@Eric-yc9kt 3 года назад
Short answer - YES....The sump pump for the sump crock was $70.00 @ Harbor Freight and the pallet of St. Augustine sod was $235 delivered, (I installed the sod myself...too easy not to) fencing replacement was $550.00, garden clean up and dual trunk pigmy date palm was $250.00 - but all of that was in the budget when planning. The only added expense, which was my choice, other than chemicals, was the Dolphin CC robotic cleaner which was purchased on sale via Amazon for $500.00 - that was a purchase based on me not wanting to roll out the 100' vac line and have to roll it back up after vacuuming.

@@Eric-yc9kt It never ceases to amaze me the types of comments you get online...sheesh! Great video. I was happy to see the sump pit. I've watched a lot of fibreglass pool installs on YT and I am actually shocked at how many leave this out! I know when we had our pool quotes, some said it "wasn't needed." An ounce of prevention, as they say.
@Eric-yc9kt
@Eric-yc9kt 2 года назад
Thank you for commenting and watching!! I did a year + of research on what was best for me and my family, and this was the outcome. I had local companies telling me that fiberglass CAN'T be installed in my area and always pop out of the ground - - of course those companies only sold over-priced concrete/gunite pools. I did my research and discovered that fiberglass pools do not float any easier than gunite. As long as you don't empty the pool without first relieving the hydrostatic pressure beneath there will be NO problems on either - hence the sump crock! I knew what I was getting into - - not knocking gunite - I just dont want to spend another $5-10k on replastering years down the road when I'm looking to enjoy my retirement.
