⭐️Hello everyone, this video shows some fictional buildings / structures (Movies, series, video games ...). Obviously not all, only some more prominent. It also really helps show how overly simply how of the biggest buildings seem. Minas Tirith has all these details of smaller buildings all around it, but then the Senate Building and stuff are just big round solid shapes that look insane given how detailed the city around them looks.

@@an1m8r Hey now, Minas Tirith is a city, it's supposed to have several houses and stuff on it. The Senate is a single building planned with a design and a function in mind. You don't see many buildings as rich in detail as Minas Tirith, do you?

@@theviniso Yes, but a lot of other star wars stuff does this very fractally effect over it to get a sense of scale- Star Destroyers, Death Star, the works, they get these "chasms" and almost topography to them that gives you a sense of scale, that this Senate model at least seems to lack.

The HL2 Citadel is one of the most ominous visuals in any video game. It feels artificial, alien, and oppressive, and the fact that you only see it from a distance for most of the game makes it even more ominous. And when you are in the citadel and start ascending towards the top and you see the city below, with only the city lights visible, it sells the scale of the Citadel perfectly.

Get the same feeling in little nightmares 2 with the signal tower. But unlike hl2 the signal tower you don’t see the outside until chapter 4. But I like how the citadel is one of the first things you see in hl2 just after you leave the Train station

Fun Fact: The Citadel (Half Life 2) actually goes down very far, even further down than the Citadel core. Obviously we never get to see the very low levels but it is crazy to find out how deep it goes.

The citadel from Half Life 2 is actually roughly around the same height as the International Space Elevator because the model you used (While being from the actual game.) has been scaled down to just barely go over clouds, adding its real height above the clouds, as well as the thousands of feet/meters it has going underground it may even be taller!

The tallest (or should i say, highest) tower is built on a rock formation, which would not make it as tall as showed in the video (if that was the case then my uncle’s house which is on a hill +1000 meters over sea level would be taller than the Burj Khalifa).

@ZORG I thought it was Boston Either way it doesn't really matter since it's just a really blurry texture to represent city 17 It's probably not to scale Anyway you can get the correct scale for the citadel from just extracting the model from the game and making it 16x larger (objects in the source engine 3D skybox are projected to look enlarged by that size by default)

Hogwarts also has access to Extension charms, so the inside of the building can be far larger than the stone walls outer dimensions would hint at. Furthermore, there are extensive underground parts of Hogwarts. (Slytherin House student quarters, Chamber of Secrets, dungeon based potion's class room.)

digifalc0087 it isn’t too hard The 3D skybox objects in the game are scaled down by 16 times so just take the dimensions of the in game model and multiply them by 16

kg22backup the height is undetermined, all we have here is a theoretical calculation of how tall it might be. But it is still unknown, it could be A LOT bigger or it could only be about half a mile tall. Also the views from the game don’t mean anything there just there to show where the Citadel sits on the map.

This is great! If it ever gets revisited, it would be great to see Scrooge McDuck's Vault "The Money Bin" included in the list as he is widely considered the second richest fictional character of all time. At 59 meters tall it would come in right after Cinderella's Castle.

Santa Claus was on Forbes list of the Fictional 15 for years until they took him off when kids wrote in to insist he's not fictional (Scrooge McDuck became number one on their list that year).

I wonder if they dare to ever do it again, their games are very cinematic and high quality. I totally enjoyed the freedom that came with playing Jak II. The open world was something. They did it again in Jak 3 and I actually enjoyed it even more. Naughty Dog were always good, always.
