Best tutorial on double stops I have watched on you tube so far. For a player new to them, I found you explained and demonstrated it clearly. Thank you for that! Now I just have to go and practice so I will actually be able to do them.

This video was AWESOME! I am a beg/intermediate and I LOVE Ashokan Farewell. I have been playing it forever and have been wanting to find a way to broaden its sound and make it sound better, but I had no idea how. I am new to double stops. Thank you SO VERY MUCH! Grateful!

Good job. I'll start practicing those double stops tomorrow. Maybe I should map out these chords so I can see them, even though I don't play with sheet music, I understand it and love theory. Sometime would you do a video explaining when you do up bows and when you do down bows. My granddaughter seems to start most songs with an up and I start with a down. But she says it makes a difference. Why?

I am also new to "Trills" and wish I could put this in slow motion so I could see what you are doing.

You can play it in slow motion - hover over the video, click on the settings (cog icon) and select Playback Speed.

That's great information. I've noticed a lot of us do the unconscious vibrato thing. It was brought to my attention when I was recording and under the microscope . What are your thoughts on that ?

Thanks -- very nice. What was the Bb waltz you played a few bars of?

Andy Eggers hi, Andy. I'll have to listen, but it was likely a couple of bars of Carnival Waltz...

In a sequence of three ,stopped , double stops were I run out of fingers I don't understand how to maintain a continuous sound from the second to the third stop . You show using a slide to accomplish the continuous sound but say after I slide up or down to sound the third double stop for the fourth stop which may envolve one or two different strings ,requiring the fingers to lift off the strings . Say 1st double stop using the D and A string the next double stop on the E. & A String . how can that be played with a continuous sound or is it necessary to stop bowing to place ones fingerso on other string to fake a continuous sound ? Pretty complicated question for me to word but maybe I got my point across. HOW Vassar Clements figured it all out w/oUT a teacher and not being able to read music baffles me

Could you please tell what is droning in Violin terms? on the other hand, as you slide your fingers over the strings and at some point, you slightly rock them back and forth, how is that called? thank you very much in advance.
@Fiddlevideocom
@Fiddlevideocom 3 года назад
Droning refers to playing an open string while noting a different string. So playing two tones at once, one of which (at least) is an open string. Rocking your fingers back and forth to slightly variate the pitch of the noted tone is called vibrato...

Comment ne pas toucher la corde de la quand je pose les doigts sur le corde de ré s'il vous plaît ?

Hi, Flo. That's the trick, right?? The best thing to do to avoid hitting the D string (or other strings you do no wish to finger) is to make sure your fingers are coming directly down on top of the string you are fingering. This requires good "classical" style technique for your left hand in which your fingers are landing tip first rather than with the flat of your finger pad...hopefully that's helpful!!

Why are double-stops called "double" "stops"? What is a stop?

I'm using this to learn fiddle double stops on guitar and it is making me so angry! I've always loved the sound, but the natural harmonics of the guitar sound terrible in comparison to a good fidle ):

d and a are not in tune. so the playing is also not in tune. but nice sound.
