Back in 1977 I bought a1967 Scout 800 with 45k miles on the odometer !!! It was a parts vehicle for an international dealership. Had it for a year before selling it as I needed a "Highway" vehicle for my college commute!!! The Scout was really revving at 50-55 mph with the 4 cylinder and low gearing !!! Boy do I wish I still had that beast !!!

I bought 2 1971 800b's a few months ago and I'm madly in love with them. I'll be watching for updates. Keep up the great work.

We had one of these all original, had the slant four engine that had a granny gear that let us climb anything. provided you were smart enough to use it right. We drove "as is" when we got it in the 90s. The hours upon hours off road, all original, even the tires, although those were replaced. Instead of drying and cracking, they were like a hard slick plastic. I have a trophy made from the driveline after I twisted it into two pieces, for some reason I decided to shift gears when I was losing traction while climbing. We drove it home with front wheel drive. Nothing but good times. Built American strong.

Hi, I just recently found this channel and I love it. I have a 70 scout 800A series with a slanted 4 and granny low also. I've had many great off road experiences with my scout. I named her sassy. I taught my son how to drive a stick shift with her. Needless to say, I had to sell her about 10 years ago with the stipulation that I could buy her back. Just about a year ago, I bought her back! She's in a little bit of a rougher condition now and needs some work. The gas tank was removed and installed under the bed so 35inch tires were put on. I had 33s on her when I had her. I do like the extra height tho. I don't like having to open up the back and lifting the mat to pump gas in her tho. And there are more creaks and sounds when you drive than there used to be. I would love to get rid of the old drum brakes and have disc brakes. Any suggestions on what could be used?

Great info! I’m looking to do a scout 800 build, weekly driver, light moab trail rig. I would want to go with a Dana 44 front axle swap. Do you think the jeep wagoneer front axle is better to use for a spring under swap then a scout II front?
