Epa Lallura represents the last generation of Biate elders who remember their ancient folklore, culture, music and tradition. The Biate tribe is one of the oldest tribes residing in Dima Hasao, Assam.
As part of Fieldlines at #MagFields2022, we partnered with 'The Forgotten Songs Collective', to feature artists from the Biate tribe in collaboration with Vinayak^a. The collective lived and created music together in the palace’s Badal Mahal during the run-up to the festival. The residency culminated with open-studio rehearsals, a traditional Biate performance on the palace rooftop and a collective multi-media performance on the final day of the festival.
