“SHOOTING SPORTS UK” Really enjoy watching your channel, you inspired me to start shooting and I got my first shotgun a couple of months ago. I eventually managed to persuade a farmer to let me out in their fields and I managed to get my first ever brace of pheasants last weekend as well as a rabbit and a squirrel.
Totally agree with your comments about Nicola, you need to bring this to the attention of STV and the Scottish press so the general public know of this tragedy.
“Shooting sports uk” I worry about the power of these anti hunting groups. Shutting down hunts and opportunities for some while living by their own set of privileged rules.
"SHOOTING SPORTS UK" It's great that the issues around Deer Management up here are being highlighted, it's totally ignored by local and regional news outlets, keep up the good work!
Great show this week. The UKDTR work looks phenomenal and highly professional. The white sheet showing the spread evidence post shot was an eye-opener. Also great to see the Ladies Rifle Club, good luck to them in all they do.
Great show as always. I’m from Australia but had the opportunity on my holiday in early October to travel through some of those areas you highlighted. It’s an incredible place it would be a shame to see it change at the hands of people and groups with no idea of what they are doing. We are facing the same challenges in Australia from these activist groups.
To claim that reforesting is going to cause more fire in Scotland is not supported by any evidence. Scotland will become warmer but also wetter. The reforestation will aid in preventing erosion and other problems. However I can't see any reason why exterminating red deer is of any benefit to the environment. The trees should be planted in copses of different types of trees and can be protected by fencing until they are large enough to survive the deer.
In the uk there’s way too many deer and then hunters will cry that they’re aren’t any deer. The deer destroy the forest. hunters need to realize it is a delicate balance your job as a Hunter is not to go kill animals it is to protect the environment and restore the environment. If you do wipe the deer population out for a few years to restore the environment that means you’ll have healthier populations of deer. As we’ll even more dear and other animals.
I would like to see Scotland with a well managed hunting system similar to Canada where you bought your tag for Hind or stag and could choose your area to hunt, all under the regulation of well educated and trained conservation officers, this would bring in way more revenue than the current system which limits the sport to the rich and powerful while denying the people of Scotland the right to hunt in their own country.
Unfortunately most of the Scottish Highlands is made up of very large land holdings owned by a small number of people. These "sporting estates" draw much of their income from deer stalking for paying guests, who are mainly interested in shooting stags. This causes the estates to keep the deer numbers on their ground too high to allow natural tree growth or regeneration. The high deer numbers also destroy other plant species, cause soil erosion and remove habitat for other wildlife. Shooting deer in Scotland is a sport carried out by relatively few local people, especially when compared to other European countries like Norway, which also contributes to the excessively high deer numbers. I agree with you that much more ordinary people should be allowed to hunt deer in Scotland which would mean giving them managed, controlled access to the areas where the deer live. This would involve all kinds of legal, and organizational changes but it would allow the deer numbers to be brought down, allow natural tree regeneration and allow many more ordinary people to enjoy hunting deer.
"Shooting sports UK." Love shooting and fieldsports but worried about the future as the world listens to the ignorant and stupid and not the science and the experts.
Yaseen Esprit They’ll soon begin to realise the need for culling and natural predation when they start taking over their gardens and streets! Like the Town & City Councils who can’t understand why fox Numbers are increasing!
“SHOOTING SPORTS UK” Yes, we like you in Belgium too. Great episode as usual, well done FSC lads & lasses! I sincerely hope those EU (mis)reps will consider scientific facts and expert advice over emotional pleas from anit-hunter bigmouths.
Shooting sports UK. I am going to tell you a little story about the anti’s. One farm (a friend 😉) shoots on in our area has a neighbor who would phone the police at least once a month to report gun shots on there farm, it got so bad that “my friend” was phoning the local constabulary to tell them he would be shooting that night etc. It turned out, as you may guess, they were anti’s. To cut a long story short. My friend got a phone call from the farm he has permission on, they told him the neighboring farm had phoned them and left a phone number for “my friend” to contact them. It turned out that the lady of the farm had started a large veg garden, anyone guess what’s coming next. Yes, the rabbits had decimated it. He had the permission signed in ten minutes flat, and he now shoots the whole farm. Great show guys, please keep them coming.
6:51 - What calibre was that rifle ? Can some one educate me in regards to Sturgeons plans to plant hundreds of trees and how that impacts deer, surely deer can also roam through forrests or am I missing something ?
deer will graze on the tops of young trees, possibly killing or stunting their growth. Therefore, the trees will need protecting and its cheaper to just indiscriminately shoot them all then installing fencing and impose proper management. Also, lady whats her face, wants all the killing out of the way quick and unnoticed so the readers of her magazine dont know that she is killing animals, even if it is for management purposes.
Would love to hunt a Stag as an American elk hunter....but I'd for certain equally love a cull hunt for hind. Never ceases to boggle my mind....in America, most weapons are legal unlike the UK, but thanks to Hollywood, the use of suppressors is highly regulated (fear and loathing). Guess we get more weapons, but you get suppressors.
I would take a good pattern over power any time, I want to achieve a clean kill first but be safe in the knowledge that the first shot will have enough to slow it up to secure the second shot if necessary.
Yup they are trying to do the same in ireland,, but in my opinion, it's not for the trees, there were always trees and deer, in every country, till governments came along, in ireland they want all deer gone too, no deer, no rifle!
'shooting sports UK' I am astounded how anti's can ignore the evidence of damage that the RSPCA are doing to the UK's habitats. I feel that this channel and it's members are like the soldiers at Rorkes drift holding the assault back from anti's
Can I hunt pest animal's on UK, and do I need any license or something for hunting pest or just a air gun, or a slingshot. Can someone explain what I need for pest hunting, I don't live on UK so I don't know the laws, but im planning going on UK
Oddly enough, the anti hunters here in North America aren't as obnoxious. Also, I think the conservation model in Canada and US particularly clever. Better to have hunters manage the land than clueless tree huggers who never leave the beaten path.
From a hunter here in the the U.S.. This was very enjoyable. I felt like I was a part if it. Never felt remorse for taking food. Maybe working for a sporting optics company isn't his calling. The right attitude would be to respect the animal and use as meat for the table. Those women are the enemies of Scotland as far as I am concerned. To just wipe out The herd is irresponsible and ot sounds like junk science to even believe this would have an affect on reforestation. So the English( maybe even Scottish also?) have become anti-hunting? I say fight. Do not let these know nothings get away with it.
This is done for the benefit of the Deer Forest in the long run. A marked decline in the herds condition would be the result if this were not done, along with starvation as well. So humane management is necessary.
