Paul Childerley has an unusual hunting challenge. Softly and silently, he has to rid an urban chicken run of foxes. He chooses to do it with his Tikka .22. Meanwhile, out in the wilds of Dartmoor, Tom Davies is using his Tikka in 6.5 Creedmoor to despatch foxes closing in on lambing fields. Both of them use the latest thermal kit. News correspondent Deborah Hadfield is in Dublin looking at a scheme to feed the homeless by the Wild Deer Association of Ireland. We are giving away five pairs of tickets to the Northern Shooting Show in May 2022. David springs to action on the news stump and Charlie showcases the best of RU-vid on Hunting RU-vid. It’s all in this week's #FieldsportsBritain

from personal experience i have found whiskers pouched cat food on its own is an excellent fox bait . But the trick is to sprinkling it in a circle no wider than 2 metres with no clumps this keeps the target in a given killing zone and stops them wandering around as in this vid also they have to stay and eat because there is nothing they can grab and run off with. .22 Ely SS/HP just behind the ear does the job or if your a bit further out .17HMR on one cull i had 3 foxes laying on top of one another like a layer cake. My highest count using these tactics on one cull is 7 at a school using my CZ American .17HMR . So don't spread it around keep it local

Good morning Charlie, I have an issue Regarding the request to capture footage of pest species raiding eggs/chicks from song birds . The only birds now left in the gardens in and around my area are Magpies,Crows and Jackdaw’s. Only two years past was there a healthy population of Blackbird,Sparrow, Finch and the occasional Thrush but to name a few . On a normal stroll with the Hound 40 plus Magpies can be counted , 60 plus Crows and I give up counting Jackdaw’s when I reach 100. The dawn chorus has sadly fallen silent now but at least we have the internet to let our Children/ Grandchildren know what the Dawn Chorus was and should still be.

Hiya is there an episode covering the whole reasons why magpies and Jays are now illegal to shoot in Wales I live in Pembrokeshire West Wales and in certain areas magpies are a big problem iv had that many song birds nests ripped out of my hedges iv lost count, I think they are a very clever bird in how they exploit other birds etc but I'm a firm believer that they need to be kept in check is there anywhere I can find out what the reason's were for them now being protected essentially

I completely understand nuisance foxes on farmland being culled in lambing season. But why do urban foxes need to be killed when the owners could just be more responsible and ensure they build fox proof enclosures? It might be a little more expensive to make 100% fox proof but totally doable.

so you encouraged a fox into the garden then shot it? Perhaps if the owner took proper care of the chickens then there wouldn't be the need to lure an animal into an area then shoot it for being in that area.

The grey wolf has never actually been "endangered" nor "threatened." There have always been healthy sustained populations in Canada and Alaska. Those populations are more remote and less damaging to livestock though. The reintroduced populations in the lower 48 have been above "recovered" numbers for almost two decades in many places. Wolf hunting is long overdue in most places where they were reintroduced but as usual antis lie about everything and are given the heckler's veto.
@slomo1562
@slomo1562 2 года назад
@@andrewmacdonald5984 wow! Someone drank the Kool Aid. You've obviously read the "official report" on the matter and pasted much of it above. First, the number of cattle lost is far above the number of cattle compensated. The out so often used is "there were also signs of coyote" to negate compensation as if coyotes became a sudden issue for full grown cattle predation. Never mind the fact that officials do not race out to view the site. The complaint of affected ranchers being "of course there was no proof two weeks later" other than pictures taken by them then declared insufficient as evidence. Also, the number of cattle in the state is irrelevant to the number of cattle on impacted farms or ranches. You can count sixty head of cattle lost in a single county without finding any attempt at compensation. As you are obviously well aware wolves are not picky eaters and despite the official report wolves do not readily leave plentiful food sources. They must be driven off without harming them lest you suffer the full weight of both a state and Federal assault on you and all you own. The most laughable phrase is that one stating bird and fish environments have been greatly improved, which cannot in any measurable way be attributed to wolves. However unfounded it is actually true but almost exclusively in parts of those states where there are oddly few to no wolves and part of habitat restoration programs designed to impact... Wait for it... fish and birds. Didn't see that in your report did you? As decimated ungulate populations in Michigan, Wisconsin, Idaho, and pretty much every place wolves had been reintroduced, most states have reported better than expected herd populations. Lets look at that. First, wolf hunting has helped some but not much. Second, the method of expectations used was similar to "budget surplus" calculation. When the government says "we had a budget surplus" they do mot mean "we spent less than expected." They calculate the budget with a certain amount of over spending then simply do not overspend as much and tada! Budget surplus. Here they simply stated herd populations will be at an artificially low percentage then low and behold the herds exceeded their expectations. Check into harvest numbers from year to year over the last twenty-five years. Do you see a trend? You do if you look. This is not a fun game. Hunters and landowners, as you claim to be, are impacted adversely. Now Biden, as he does, has set out to make it worse. The USFWS has filed suit to ban all wolf hunting. Good luck digging into the matter using Google. This information is not easily found. You are better served looking at source data. When the call to reintroduce wolves came about in the late 80's I was all for it. Why not? I was ignorant. I bought what was being sold. What I was told later has long since come true. What was that? "Reintroduction sounds great but it comes with a government assigned bureaucrat. Government involvement is as healthy as rat poison. Science plays no part in the process. These same people would reintroduce T-Rex to roam rural lands because they like the idea of seeing one some day but suffer none of the consequences. Don't believe for a second that once populations reach desired levels the goverment will relent. Also, look at those who are pushing for it to happen and who are opposed. They will drag us all through the mud. Your hunting access is secondary. Your land is not yours. Your livestock are prey and if you take matters into your own hands, the feds will eat you alive just like the wolves will if they catch you out." Paraphrased but these decades later and it has all come to pass. Wolves passed "recovered" numbers everywhere they were placed almost two decades ago - everywhere. However even today it is a fight to have them delisted and allow states their rights to manage wolves as they see fit. Remember grey wolves were never actually threatened let alone endangered. They were plentiful in Canada and Alaska but their range was reduced from northern Mexico to none in the lower 48. Your notions sound as though you've not had to deal with wolves, the devastation they bring, nor the bureaucrats who oversee and impose them on others. You sound like I did when I was young and dumb especially echoing that BS how wolves have made life better for their woodland friends, the birdies and the fishies. I'm still a wolf fan but not the way anti-science anti-hunters force them on the country today and I'm especially against the lies and disinformation being systematically perpetuated.

I cannot believe you are promoting the shooting of clay pigeons. Have you no shame 40 pigeons per person is way too many! You could totally eliminate the clay pigeon in the area of the shoot. This sort of thing should be stopped! RSPCA should stop this you probably support the over crowding of clay pigeons in boxes too! 😉😊👍

Manufacturers of add ons need to take stock. Your comment of crack on is in my view totally unprofessional. I cannot believe you aired the vid. Check out your equipment and don’t except the fact that because you paid thousands for your choice of thermal add on it shoots where you think your looking. I’m an open ticket holder of many years. I have paid my money for equipment only to find the zero on certain items doesn’t transfer on add ons. Doesn’t always work on day light zero to night conditions. Not the cleanest despatch.
