Just bought a Fierce Edge at Cabela's....GREAT rifle, shot as advertised! First trip to the range with cheap ammo, and first three shot group after sighting in was .43 MOA. Love the feel and look of this rifle....can't saying enough about this rifle.
HuntinTheWest thats what I understand as well that it's not getting the recognition that it deserves. In your opinion, which is an all around better rifle, the 300 win mag, 7mm mag, or the 30 nosler?
I love sevens but if elk are on the table there is nothing like watching a big 30 drop them in their tracks. The 30 Nosler will outperform the 300 Win all else being equal but the brass is expensive and sometimes hard to find with only one option. 300 Win brass is everywhere and the options are actually growing. I will be running a 30 Nosler for the foreseeable future.
I just received my Fierce CT Edge in .300 RUM and absolutely love it. I am use to the .300 RUM having a Sendero but just sick of lugging the weight. I was worried about the Fierce trigger but love it nothing bad to say about this rifle period. It is shooting 1/4 in MOA with scrap partitions I loaded 18 years ago (165,180) RL 25 for the Sendero but I have to play with the Accubonds a bit I see and develope a load. Love the rifle and everything about it, John Mogle took my order over the phone when I just called about a question it took 10 months to ship.
I have the CT Edge .300 Rum could you do a video on adjusting the trigger? Mine is a tad heavy but love the rifle. 200 Accubonds are all touching with Retumbo and RL33.
Considering purchasing a CT Edge. Curious as to how your rifle is holding up. I've never owned a carbon wrapped barrel, and have heard good things of proof research. I can't seem to find any information on Fierce's carbon barrels comparing them to Proof. As to the few videos I can find on CT Edge reviews, it seems that Fierce has done an exceptional job with their creation. Thank you for the video, and I hope to hear of your experience after the couple of years you've had yours.
Good video, I just picked up an Edge in 28 Nosler. I wanted to correct a misconception though, the safety does NOT block the striker as stated. The round "peg" that extends upwards locks the bolt handle shut, it does not block the striker. If you look closely, there is nothing on the striker for the "peg" to engage. Also, The Remington trigger has had problems, but the Remington 700 safety itself is very secure. The Remington 700 safety blocks the striker through the sear or as Remington calls it the "safety cam.". In fact if you look closely on a Remington 700, the striker moves rearward slightly when safety is applied.
You are 100% correct about the Sako 85/Fierce trigger. I mistakenly took information given to me and passed it on. The peg does go into a detent in front of the cocking piece such that it would not block the firing pin fall if the sear were to disengage to cocking piece. I greatly apologize for the misinformation. As far as the 700 safety I have on several occasions had a rifle fire(not loaded) with the safety on. It is the reason I will very rarely carry a rifle with a round chambered. In any case there is no such thing as a safe firearm. Always keep them pointed in a safe direction.
Look this perception the Remington 700 safety being unreliable is all media crap that keeps being repeated with little truth. None and I repeat None of all the 700s I have owned have ever fired on their own. That also applies to the many other shooting buddies I have that also own them.
I own one of these rifles I have had Cabelas mount scope with the talley rings that was suggested by John at Fierce , had lot of problems the scope moving , lucky i live prety close to to fierce and Gage suggested i bring it in I was treated awesome and there is a system to the talley rings to mount them !!!! call them if u have this problem
How’s the length of the mag? Will it accommodate for longer bullets? I know some high end “custom” rifles accommodate this but I haven’t heard anything about fierce yet
The magazine length is just over 3.7" and will feed up to 3.7" with no problem. As far as accommodating longer bullets that is going to depend on the cartridge and throat. It is plenty long for for most magnums. I personally would want more for a RUM.
How does this rifle compare to the Christensen Arms Long Range? Can we see a comparison on the next video side by side in a shoot out? Thanks still trying to decide on the next 30 cal purchase between the 2 mentioned
Are you talking about the Mesa Long Range? If so these two rifles could not be any farther apart. One is super heavy the other is super light. In general the Fierce rifles are a much nicer rifle. It all lies in the action. Both manufacturers build rifles capable of shooting under half minute if you are but the Fierce guarantees it. If money is not a concern I would choose the Fierce every time. If money is a concern the decision gets a little tougher. Both make excellent rifles that will compete with any custom rifle as long as you do not "need" very specific things in your rifle.
Curious on your thoughts of the Fierce CT Edge compared to the Kimber Ascent. I am considering one of these in 280 Ackley Improved. Would love to hear about your preference and why.
Dave Bartkowski - I bought a kimber mountain ascent in 280 ai. It’s a really nice very light rifle but the barrel is SO thin that it heats up FAST. Hard to even sight in because even the third shot is way off and you have to wait 15 minutes for cool down. Great for hunting, but really hard to practice with and sight in. I’m selling mine.
Are these actions and stocks available for purchase. I contacted them before to see if they would chamber one in a 7mm weatherby magnum. They said no so I wonder if I could just buy the action.
Great video! Would you go as far as to say this is the best production lightweight hunting rifle on the market? I’m really concerned about the lead time you had to deal with!
If the choice were between the Ridgeline or the Fury, which would be the better lightweight mountain rifle. I don’t expect to take shots past about 300 yds. If you like the Fierce better is it worth the extra money for the Edge model?
I would take the Edge, Fury, then Ridgeline. In that order. For shots no longer than 300 yards I would seriously consider a Tikka or Mesa and save some cash for tags.
Hey Patrick. What caliber did you end up getting and how do you like the rifle? Was the delivery time very long? I’m considering .300 WM for my upcoming elk hunt and would like your thoughts if possible. Thanks
g u y I personally don’t think they are in the same league. The Havak is 50/50 cock on close cock on open and I can’t stand the action. The Seekins might shoot on par but the details cause it to lose.
Awesome review, just bought Ct edge 7mag, I'm old school, took 3 times ordering rifle to finally get one. Gage took my order first two times and lost everything, deal with Glenn or Devin, if you want good service..
Yes and no. This acts like a push feed if you do not feed from the mag. Many claw extractors can not be single fed with out extractor mods. I think this setup has the best of both worlds but it still will not be as reliable at extracting as a M98 or M70 claw. I personally have never had a problem with extraction related directly to the extractor so I am not sure how important it really is. To me the biggest advantage is how smooth it feeds from the magazine. A push feed just can't compete.
I can not believe I am even responding to this but you are incorrect. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9hntHJg_cag.html I am pretty sure the company knows how to pronounce their name.
