In this video I show you how to change the oil and oil filter on your ST180 using genuine Ford parts. I also show you how to use the correct tools (oil filter wrench, torque wrench etc.) and give information on the correct filling quantity and torque settings for the drain plug.

This video was so handy. I've just done My Fiesta ST this morning. It was really easy and god knows why I have never done it myself before. I purchased oil / oil filter / cabin filter and new sump plug for £55. The only hassle was getting the oil filter off. I'll definitely be doing it every 6k miles now. Thanks for the 'assistance' and keep up the great content👍

Thanks Steve. Yes it's an easy job and it feels more satisfying doing it yourself. The oil filter can be a pain, but an oil filter wrench makes it much easier.

Some great quality videos on this car I have to say Aamer! I owned a 63 plate ST-2 from 2018 through till end of last year. Still in the family however as my brother owns it now 😁 That hasn't stopped me doing the maintenance on it as I got pretty familiar following the same creators you mention like spark plug steve and markcup lol. P.s I've since moved to a mk3 focus st250

Thanks for leaving the comment! It's great your old ST is still in the family, as you can perhaps get a cheeky drive in after the maintenance! I like the MK3 Focus ST. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on how it compares to the FiST?

It feels very familiar to the fiesta and I'd say that comes down to it being from the same era and ST trim. I'm yet to drive it on track but so far it's a fun drive. Only complaints are the turning circle!@@aamersandoo

Thanks for the insight. It was probably the same engineers that worked on the design of both cars, hence the similar feel. I do hope to own one of the RS Focus's one day. @@feedingfrenzy123

Make sure you use Millers LSPI oil. Video explaining why here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m6u40c1QtZs.htmlsi=wkljr_pZ24EcIgDw

Hi, Im planning on doing a service on my 2015 st180 this weekend (first time servicing a car) and jsut wonder about the drain bolt. Does this bolt need a crush washer with it or does the bolt have one built in? ive been trying to read up about it but seem to get different answers. Cheers

Hi there, my ST drain plug did not have a separate crush washer which means it must be built in. Having looked at images of new drain bolts on the internet for this car, they don't seem to have one either, so I don't think you will need one. However, if yours does have a crush washer, then you can just buy a new crush washer and fit that. Remember that when you tighten it with a new crush washer, you feel some resistance at the applied torque, but then the washer will 'crush' giving you a further turn of the nut and then it's tight!

You should do it more often like 5000 miles 10000 is to much

I agree, not waiting till 10k on my car, especially with a turbo
@aamersandoo
@aamersandoo 6 месяцев назад
Well the official handbook states 12.5 k miles and I would suspect Ford engineers have a variety of parameters that help them set this interval. I agree, that the interval could be shorter, but we do not have any data to know how short the interval should be. It's important that it is not so short that it does not confer any benefit. For example, is the 5k change interval based on any objective data? @@iAdam368 @nikyclau3966

That oil dipstick doesn’t look correct. I’m on my third fiesta st and haven’t had a dipstick that looks like that 👍🏻
@aamersandoo
@aamersandoo 6 месяцев назад
You had me worried at first, but having checked there were two dipstick designs. Mine is the original design found in earlier cars but later cars had the revised version. This thread has a bit more detail: www.fiestastforum.com/threads/dipstick-design-issues.26475/
