People dont even know what connection I had, this is the problem, people just make excuses without trying to improve their gameplay. While I appreciate the insight, but no matter how I try to hold the position in FUT champs my defenders seem to have forgotten that they are defending and the funny thing is that while I am attacking I see my Maldini is on the offensive line. This game will drive you nuts no matter how they patch it.

Most problem I have is switching the players, sometimes analog switching is too inaccurate

Nice video but what about defending againt people who keep possession? My defenders can never catch up and it feels like they have all the space. And when I try to keep possession their defenders always seem to have 99 acceleration

So obvious but tremendously helpful. I always try to stop a run by picking a CB and attacking the ball which always ends with me getting run past and my keeper falling down 😂. I was allowing 4+ goals a game in MLS CM and in my last 3 games I’ve allowed only 1 each. Thanks bro!

So genreally, i think the most important advice here of understanding the basics of defending before trying to figure out "what to press" is pretty important. And it's true, especially on lower level divisions. But highier experienced players require more work.. However i completely dissagree with the notion that the AI will defend for you. Or to be more clear, it will sometimes defend and sometimes dont.. at random.. I'm not one of the people who tires to blame the the game for everything that happens, i'm not that good, and i can see that i've left opening that was used by my opponent. BUT i feel AI in my games often played randomly dependant on a match. And not only because i am losing that speciric match, there were matches where i played terribly and won, simply because my AI turned into ultra amazing boosting and automatically would run to ball and intercept stuff, to the point where i was surprised myself. Othgertimes ball rolling at 1 meter an hour will be passed next o a dumb founded player who just stands there(And yes i know i should at this point manually switch to that player to intercept it, but the point is that there are games where my players would not only automatically intercept balls like that, but will also intercept balls that are 10x faster). Honestly not sure what is causing it, but i've had few matches where i felt game let me win where i didn't deserve it at all lol

Yeah, schlotterbeck, Kehrer, Gvardiol, etc are legit. Your tips are great but sometimes you need to put a bit of pressure on the ball holder and defend cut backs more aggressively

Lol this is exactly what’s wrong with the game. The best way to defend? Don’t actually do anything, stand still, sprint in a straight line, jog around a bit in a ‘passing lane’, just run in to the other player, mainly use your DMs. That’s the stupid part too it all works really well and you shouldn’t actually try and do any defending. Unless you’re a much higher level than you’re opponent you should just do as little as possible

My biggest issue is my centerbacks overlapping. Im trying to do exactly what youre saying with positioning and my other centerback is following me leaving space on their side for even the slowest striker to burn through. I cant figure out how to fix it

My defenders just running past through some attackers Or sometimes my lr-backs going into center and opening space for the opponent So my defending with cm’s is going to bin.

I feel this video should instead by titled that it's defending your beginners. Yes, all of these techniques are absolutely legitimate and it's a good demonstration. However, I'd be interested in seeing the same tutorial against a higher level opponent out of interest. I already do all of these techniques and effectively, but I still get ripped apart in some games (Div 3 WL, rank 1 rivals)

I tried it, it only slightly work. In practice, it is not an easy as it looks and not very practical tbh. I would like to see a more challenging opponent and see how your method works!

The thing is you're demoing these vids against bad players. Good players will get the ball and hold it on the edge of the box and spam skill moves and quick passes which are not stoppable with player switching being the way it is. Also when they get the ball on the edge of the box the midfielders just switch off and ignore the game which makes overloads very easy. Essentially it's your back line vs however many players they send forward. And the one thing your are not addressing which is the number 1 biggest issue on the game are the cut backs. Please tell us how to defend players full sprinting down the wing and having an easy cut back goal? Even if you stop a few they will spam this over and over until one gets through.

I think some people missed the point, what he is trying to say show is for defending what's the most important part is the basic i.e positional defending, yes u can get aggressive etc but if u do it while maintaining defensive position that will be best because once your out of position your opponent can use it against you easily

Gameplay and connection play a huge difference in defending. The amount of tackle backs that happen to me or tackling and u don't get posession of the ball. You make it seem like every time u tackle u get the ball which is a huge joke

How do I get my players to actually be a defensive line? Are you on really low depth? I'm on 50 and if I miss a shot they are all on half way line and have to run back constantly. I wish they stayed in the box to actually defend .

Running towards the opponent's player to intercept is risky it will open spaces for other players

I made it to division 4 with my best ping being 46ms, trying hard to upgrade my home wifi. I am on the best package from my network provider. I stand my ground most times but I think the low ping makes it difficult to go the right place with my defender

the legendary difficulty cpu still destroys me even using these tactics. Nothing I've tried has worked to beat it

I’ve watched hundreds of youtube videos, with FIFA tutorials and explanations. I can honestly say that, the way you covered this topic, and the clarity, is probably the best FIFA 23 video I’ve watched to date. The examples and explanations are perfect. I played a few friendlies after i watched this video, and watched the goals i conceded. One was where i was sprinting after a winger with my CB, when my left back, controlled bu the AI was already in a good position. In doing so, i left a simple pass for my opponent to his striker. I should have pulled the CB back into the penalty area. Thank you, and keep producing these amazing videos.

Dude, I do this exact thing and I don't think defense is my issue, it's actually scoring. For some reason, when I have breakaways and have a counter attack, I feel like I CAN NOT get off of their center backs even when I'm already past them, even with players like Mbappe, etc. meanwhile, their Mbappe just skates right by all of my defenders no issue at all times. I've never experienced anything like it.

Dude I'm doing something horribly wrong, I'm getting on average 50 tackles, everything is manual defending... I feel like every game is a marathon... Any tips please ? My opponents get like 10-15 tackles I'm on 50+ every game

All my players have high pace and keep getting out ran every game it's so infuriating

All my player have 90+ pace, why do they feel so slow as soon as I get the ball. As soon as I block and start running they take so long to run. Feel like they’re being pulled back
