It was 100% a regular goal!

And he denied Germany a clear penalty later in the game. What could have made it 4-1. Maybe he was unsure to give it because the first penalty wasn't that clear. And to be fair, a 4-1 wouldn't have shown the whole story of the match.

@@gunternetzer9621 It would have been a great match for sure. Both teams were the best sides in that World Cup. That said, though, the German final victory against the Netherlands wasn't only a lucky one but one not undeserved in a thrilling match. And it often happens that the best teams in a tournament don't necessarily win the tournament. Otherwise, in 1966 or 1982, for example, Germany and Brazil, respectively, ought to have won.

Brazil has never been known for blowing out opponents at World Cups! They are usually satisfied with 3, 4 or 5 goals. There is really no point in going beyond that at the professional level especially if the game is under control. No need to embarrass your opponent.

Westdeutschland verlor absichtlich weil sie als Gruppenzweiter in die leichtere Zwischengruppe kommen konnten (mit Schweden, Jugoslawien, Polen), während Ostdeutschland als Erster in die schwerere Zwischengruppe kam (Niederlande, Brasilien, Argentinien). Früher waren solche Rechenspiele und Pläne noch einfacher möglich als heutzutage. Man glaubt doch nicht ernsthaft dass die Weltmeister werden und alle anderen schlagen, aber dann ausgerechnet die DDR nicht packen könnten...

È già tanto che abbia giocato nel 1970, si era già ritirato dalla Nazionale dopo il 1966. Figuriamoci se aveva ancora voglia e stimoli nel 1974...

@@denisdegaspari9723 evidentemente lui non era in grado. Già fu in dubbio per il 1970. Non è detto che se un giocatore è forte giochi fino a 40 anni, ci sono esempi di giocatori che hanno smesso a 30. Andando in Usa fu sommerso di $ e perse ogni altro stimolo.

Jersey rules were not that strict that time. You could play all white whole while the opponent team was wearing white shorts and socks as long as the jersey had another colour. A few years ago in the German cup final RB Leipzig was the designated home team and wore white jerseys, red shorts and red socks and Bayern München as the designated away team wore red jerseys, white shorts and white socks. Bayern also had the option playing in all black as their 3rd kit but the ref allowed it because Bayern wanted to promote their new home kit.

I don't think anyone is going to confuse someone with a white jersey and red shorts with someone wearing a red jersey and white shorts. But in Italy 90 Argentina had white shorts and white and blue jerseys and couldn't use it against Germany as they're the designated "home" team.

@@Ometecuhtli Orange and red shirts are a bit of a clash but in this tournament a lot of teams played in their second strip without any real need to.

Nie jestem taki pewien, czy Lubański to zbawca, ale to świetny piłkarz... myślę, że mogło tak nie lać w stutgarcie jak graliśmi z Niemcami, albo mogli mecz przełożyć, to była kopanina po błocie, i mieli minimalnie więcej farta.... ale to wystarczyło... bo to była też świetna drużyna...

@@bdmonster8250 Lubański obok Deyny był najlepszym polskim piłkarzem. Półkę lepszym od Laty czy Szarmacha etc Miałem szczęście rozmawiać z wieloma ludźmi, którzy widzieli na żywo jeszcze Gerarda Cieślika..., także... Co nie zmienia faktu, że może i masz rację w tym że synergia tamtej ekipy była niesamowita i być może z tym wybitnym Lubańskim graliby wbrew pozorom gorzej...

With a fully fit team they could have won it with Andrzej Szarmach. He and Deyna were not fully fit for the S/F and 3rd/4th Place PO.

@@czaszaprzeszly371 Z w pełni sprawnym zespołem mogli go wygrać z Andrzejem Szarmachem. On i Deyna nie byli w pełni zdolni do S/F i 3/4 miejsca PO. Mieli lepszych napastników niż Holandia, a Szarmach był prawdziwym środkowym napastnikiem, w przeciwieństwie do Cruyffa, a Lato był lepszy od Rep.
