I love you Michael. You’ve been the background music of my life. I’m 72 Recently widowed. The lyrics touch my heart about time. And never having enough.
Would help to get the lyrics right! This song would really act itself it does not need over acting less is more - is the that Barbara Cook beside him .. she could have helped with the interpretation was over the top
Listen to the version by Jack Cahill-Lemme, also on RU-vid. Even more than Nick Cosgrove, he does a great performance of the song. Dorothy Loudon’s vibrato robs me of the will to live. Quite wonderful on some comic stuff, but creepy with a ballad. I like Feinstein in general, but think that there ought to be a wistful element to this song, rather than an open-armed belt.
I like Michael Feinstein. Very talented guy. I love this song. But I'm not really loving this performance of his. Parts are ok, but others, not so much. And I have to agree with someone else's comment here, that asks "why did he change the lyrics?" I'll take Dorothy Loudon's performance over this, any day.
Great song when a woman sings it. But, so much more poignant when a man sings it to a man. Barbara Cook (sitting on stage) could take a tip from Michael and sing "Wait Till You See Her" as written, instead of changing it, as she did, to "him."
Barbra's new version on You Tube is so perfect. Emotional but with a calmness. Michael's version is so frantic and frenzied it is hard to watch. His version is so overacted and so overly emotional is is almost amusing to watch him do such a disservice to such a beautiful song.
