I didnt read the books but I still enjoyed the movie. I almost expected it to be really bad and in the end I would give it a solid 7. Its not a masterpiece no, but I dont think they intended to make it that either. Was it entertaining? A lot. Was it sexy? A lot. I think their main 2 purposes were achieved! I also didnt expect to laugh as much as I did.

I'm a feminist and in seeing all these protests and even though I haven't read or seen this, I know that it isn't supporting rape culture, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be allowed to be published in the first place if it was! I need to stop watching your videos I have watched like 13 in a row hehehe...he..heh..., loved the video!!

you would be surprised at what gets published these days that "support" rape culture. It is literally all around us. They may not be in your face, but the elements are there. These elements are usually that ones that cause the debates on whether or not it does. I know a few people who were raped that absolutely hate this franchise, and i know a few who were raped that love it. It is just a matter of how their personal beliefs are. I am not saying whether or not this franchise supports rape culture or not. Just saying what I have encountered.
@de5072

natasha soerensen i never said he did. I'm just saying that people who have read this series in my life that have experience rape or molestation at the hands of a partner have varying view points. And just because someone consents to something doesn't mean they want it. They could just be too afraid to say no at the fear of what the other would do. i am NOT saying this is the case for this franchise. I am just saying what i have encounter about this movie/ book series.

natasha soerensen Yeah it's basically rape roleplay. And it's just funny because feminists complain so much about rape culture (whatever that is) but then you find out cultural phenomenons such as 50 Shades of Grey, just proves that rape roleplay/being dominated is really one of the top sexual fantasies of women.

What about helicopter/plane scenes? I loved those the most. And dis soundtrack, though. I did get emotional manipulation vibe from Christian, but I appreciated the fact that Anastasia got this "control freak" signal from him too, she seems to be much more self-efficient then Bella in Twilight. I feel like if Edward was into BDSM Bella would semi-unwillingly give into everything Edward wanted from her. I need to read the book, but, from what I understand, is consent edgier in the book? Cause in the movie it seems pretty present.

also there's this hilarious song someone wrote about this book/movie and i had to share it with you. the title is: 50 Shades of Grey: A 90 Second Song, and it could be found here on yt. it's by beth crowley (bethj007). she also did a wonderful song about the mortal instrument series called warrior. if you haven't heard it yet i highly recommend it. her songs are amazing. and she does many songs based on books that i see on your shelf so i thought you might like it. i actually read a book bc of a song she wrote; it was that amazing :)

alright, i don't really get why so many people are against this movie. BECAUSE SHE ALWAYS SAID YES TO EVERYTHING. It's not like she found out what he liked and then walked away from him. She kept saying yes to everything. So yes, that's why i dont really get it. He didn't force her. She said yes to everything they did.

I haven't read or seen 50 Shades of Grey, but why are people saying it promotes domestic violence and rape?? I mean, since when a sexual preference based on a willing dominant/ submissive relation is regarded as rape? I mean, I don't know how the story actually goes and I don't want to read it, so I'm curious to know what's it really about and why people say that?

i agree about Dakota, but i think that Jamie didn't have much to work with, none of his lines was good or interesting Dakota had some amazing moments and lines, and she was so funny and she brought all the humour to the film, but he didn't have that i hope that they give him some better lines in the next 2 movies :D

Thank god I'm not the only one !! I think Dakota did a good job and I don't know if it was crappy writing for Jamie or his acting but I did NOT like how Christian was portrayed. It seems kinda forced and totally fake He didn't live up to who Christian is I wanted to like him soo much but I couldn't. I hope they fix that for the next movie.

I think that people should stop hating this film. Everything was done with consent so it isn't rape. If you don't like it keep your opinion to yourself because I think that a lot of people don't see an underlining plot that through the whole process of them being together that they change each other and make each other better people and you realize as you read the books. I may not agree with everything said and done but its not a bad book or film. Thank you Sasha for your opinions

im not going to state my opinion on this franchise as my comment doesn't really pertained to that. But I will say that if someone wants to comment their opinion about that movie, whether it be praise or hate, they have the right too. respect of opinions goes both ways. Your opinion is that people should stop hating. Others may want to express their hate for it. They have the right to do so just as you have the right to say that people shouldn't hate.

Hey, if you don't like it you don't have to keep your opinion to yourself. Just because it's a different opinion than yours, it doesn't mean you can't comment. Everyone can comment their opinion here, just keep it polite.
@aaliyah9931
@aaliyah9931 9 лет назад
Thats all I ask that you keep it polite. I don't particularly like the series I just feel people shouldn't be rude to other just because they like it. Thats just like saying I dont like someone because they hate chocolate and chocolate is bad for you if you eat to much. If you dont have nothing nice to say dont say nothing at all. Especially if your cussing at them just for giving you there opinion. Theres a difference between criticism and just being hate ful

Your review is my favourite because you seem to be the only one that really understands what this book/movie is about and your not like "oh my god this is twilight fanfiction" "oh my god you're supporting rape and abuse" and those comments really annoy me. I'm not saying that this movie/book doesn't show an unhealthy relashionship, because it kind of does, well at least the first one does, but that doesn't mean he is making her do stuff she doesn't give her consent to, okey she doesn't enjoy some of the things he does but she still agreed to all of them. I really enjoyed the movie, it's not the best film ever but i really liked it!

Sasha I love your review! The disclaimers you put in and Your reasoning for the final scene was perfectly said! I personally liked the movie and series and all the buzz going around is kind of annoying but I really like how you explained everything! (:
@Crawfordwritingblogandbooktube
I love your disclaimers as well. I read the first book, and I haven't seen the movie yet. I didn't really *get* why it was such a bestseller, but I don't hate on it. People should be able to like what they like. I think it's really ridiculous and hateful to call anyone a supporter of rape culture or abuse for watching a movie or reading a book. Yes, the relationship in the book is problematic, and yes, that should be discussed. But it's FICTION. I think a lot of people really enjoy the fantasy aspect of the book. That doesn't mean they would support relationships like that in reality. I also think it's kind of condescending to assume that people who enjoy this book won't understand how it's also problematic. There are tons of classics that are problematic for various reasons (they may be sexist or racist for example) but does that mean that anyone who enjoys these books for other reasons is also sexist or racist? Anyway. Thanks for reviewing this! I will probably wait for this one to come to the Red Box or Netflix to check this one out. I love that you counted the number of lip bites. Haha!
@isydora95
@isydora95 9 лет назад
well for me, the sex and bdsm part is kind of irrelevant...i don't know how to explain it..when i read the books i don't focus on that part of the books, instead i focus on their story and how the characters change and want to be better for each other.. and i think that the other thing that's very appealing to women is the fact that Ana changes Christian, he becomes a better person because of her, and that's what i think every woman wants to do, influence a change in a man and make him better :D if you haven't read the second book, give it a chance, i think you'll love it way more than the first one also i agree with you on everything you said in your comment
@Crawfordwritingblogandbooktube
heli_yum Oh, that's interesting. You hear so much about the sex in the book(s), it's easy to forget a lot of people like it so much because of the romance and the characters. I read the first 15 or so pages of the second one, and then I gave up because I just really didn't care what happened. Haha. But maybe I should give it another shot.
@isydora95
@isydora95 9 лет назад
i know, the first thing that pops into people's mind when you say 'fifty shades of grey' is sex, but the books are much more than just sex and bdsm :) and i think that not many people see that essentially it is a love story
@martaferreira3847
@martaferreira3847 9 лет назад
heli_yum two friends of mine were talking about the movie and making comments about it without wanting to spoil it for the rest of us and were talking about a particular part of the movie and I was just like yeah that was in the book. they both turned to me like, you read the books??? I mean I did read the books (just the first two, haven't got to the last one) but it's so easy to just focus on the romance and how the characters change and forget about the other parts
@Crawfordwritingblogandbooktube
Yeah, I think I was drawn into the story a little for that reason. The writing style was the thing I had the most trouble overlooking.
@robinreese6157
@robinreese6157 9 лет назад
I actually quite like this series. I genuinely don't like the hate this series is getting for supporting rape culture, which it clearly isn't if you have read the books. Its about a safe consensual relationship that just happens to be based around BDSM. But then again no matter how hard we try...people are still going to judge a book by its cover. (BTW I love you Sasha!)
@abookutopia
@abookutopia 9 лет назад
Totally agree with everything you said Robin!
@irinavarro13
@irinavarro13 9 лет назад
But the thing is it doesn't represent an accurate BDSM relationship, and even if it was, Anastasia is clearly against being a submissive from the first minute. As the story goes on (and she doesn't sign that contract) she only agrees to do the stuff Christian wants to do because she doesn't want to lose him, but that isn't what BDSM is about, she should want it, not put up with it. And the "love" story didn't really do it for me either, it seemed more like Ana thought nobody else could give her sexual pleasure so that's why she wanted Christian so badly :/ not trying to hate on you though, I hope I didn't come off as rude or something, it's just a delicate topic for me :)

***** I really am being polite when I say this, but supporter of rape culture or not, the attempts to boycott/even ban the books/film is really upsetting. If we suddenly start censoring different art forms based on inappropriate messages and/or content, does no one realize the surge of censorship that would possibly follow. I have the utter respect for people who choose not to watch the film based on their own personal disagreements, just as I may refuse to go see The Interview because I'm a massive Kim Jong Un supporter (aha I'm not, don't know him like that ❤), but to make efforts to boycott it in the name of this that and the other -- where were the boycotts for Gone Girl? Just as abusive, just as fictional. I don't understand how this can be a thing when last month the liberty of free speech was the most vocalized protestation. No one is saying rape culture isn't a problem, no one is saying mental illness isn't a problem, including Bret Easton Ellis (author of American Psycho), but if the energy that went into boycotting/protesting against/complaining about the incorrect "messages" within the art instead went into actual campaigns against rape culture and into support for rape and abuse victims (in refugee camps, in your localities, through social media), maybe there would've been a more positive effect on the world. These protestations against 50 Shades is like having a well in a village, not wanting anyone to fall down the well and therefore building a fence around it, and then a wall, and then a spiked cage, and then a moat, then a BIGGER WALL even though people are still falling down the well - like no. Stop focusing on building ineffective walls and save the actual people falling down the well. Keyboard warriors. (Again no disrespect intended, if there is any sauce coming through the tone of my words I apologize I swear I love you guys).

Nazan Osman First of all, i respect your opinion. I don't agree with it, but in some facts i can see your point. I don't wanna discuss about it, I just think you're a little bit wrong about Gone Girl. There's a difference between this movies. Gone Girl, yes, reports an abusive relationship but no Gone Girl fan wants to have the same relationship they do. When you watch the movie you want them to break up, you want Amy to go to jail and you don't want Nick to be judged as guilty for something he didn't do. The way the abusive relationship is portrayed to us is something terrible. You don't want that. You don't say you want someone like Amy in your life. 50sog is the complete opposite. People say is consensual but Ana keeps telling she is intimidated by him. She says he's a little scary, but extremely hot. She doesn't embrace the fact that she loves him, because she is scared. I am currently reading the book and i can find a lot of problematic stuff in it. I've read tons of parts (that i've read through social media) that just by itself make the book problematic. I haven't watched the movie, because I, PERSONALLY, don't want to support other movies like that. I respect everyone who does, but I don't agree with media making other movies like that. PS: I respect your opinion, I can't argue with the other facts you said because some I agree with. I just made this comment because i believe the Gone Girl arguement was wrong.
@nazanosman5771
@nazanosman5771 9 лет назад
mariana barreto you're absolutely right. I made a comment having not read the books or even seen the film (50SOG). Having seen Gone Girl, (SPOILER) and although they do stay together in the end, you're right in that people don't necessarily tend to leave the cinema/put down the book rubbing their tummy's asking for a slice of that relationship . It's understandable to worry of people who go on to desire the 50SOG relationship dynamic, but I don't know if I can be persuaded if that's at a fault of the art piece instead of the people themselves- and if it is the art piece, is censorship of the art or educating people the solution? Also I haven't really seen that many women outright vocalize their love/desire of that type of relationship - reading/watching it doesn't immediately mean they support it. At the end of the day, I don't know, I'm bloomin under-researched and uninformed, but thanks for the new perspective hun ❤

@mufasa2005
@mufasa2005 9 лет назад
first thing, i have to agree with what you said at the beginning of your video. it upsets me so much that ppl use the words rape so freely. there was obvious consent in this movie, and grey never overstepped. now on to my review (which also comments on some of the reviews i have read/heard about the movie): compared to all of the movies out there, this one isn't that bad. even with the "abuse," there are movies that mutilate ppl, yet, you don't see anyone debating morals there... my point is that the movie is suppose to be messed up! it says so in the title: 50 shades... the series is about how physiologically and emotionally messed up the male lead is. he's dissociative and refuses to form any real connection with another human being. basically, he seems to be suffering from something so traumatic that he prefers to feel numb, which he achieves by pretending his emotions do not exist. but Grey, as hard as he tries, cannot denying that he feels something for the protagonist; she is slowly changing him as he continuously bends his rules for her. said rules are the only way he can deal with what has happened to him. it allows him to be in control and therefore gives him the illusion that he can overcome his past. he uses his sexual fetish as an outlet, a legal one i might add. he chooses an option that allows him the relief he needs without hurting anyone (well... you know what i mean). he built his walls with iron bars and filled the spaces with cement to kept himself together, yet she's digging her way to his true self. Anastasia is his salvation. if this was turned around, such that the female was the one who suffered abuse and as a result became promiscuous, no one would be distraught. and if a man came in and stood by her as she struggled with her demons, well then isn't that the perfect ending. after all we grow up to think that women are the victims and men, they are invulnerable. but when the roles are referred, now ppl get argumentative about women's rights. seriously? i find it refreshing that the man is the effed up one here, and she's his knight, trying to save him from himself. granted the SM is the author's preference. she finds this fetish provocative. and who am i to judge. when it is practiced by two connecting adults, which it was in this movie (Grey NEVER overstepped. when she wanted him to, he stopped. and he made plenty of exceptions for her which is not in his nature--which is not to excuse his controlling behaving, but to acknowledge that he's TRYING to be LESS overbearing with her so she feels conformable) there is technically nothing wrong with it. as there is nothing wrong with being gay or any other sexual preference. to each, their own. so this makes me wonder: do ppl really dislike the movie bc the plot did not live up to their expectations or bc it introduces a socially deviant form of intercourse... i wanted to just give my opinion of the movie. as for the ending: what else did you expect, it's a trilogy. has anyone seen the hunger games! also compared to other rated R movies, this one was VERY tame. i found it to be much less explicit than anticipated, esp since the books were known for their sensual nature. there was very little SM; the producer/ director basically left it to the viewers' imaginations. so if you are upset with the SM in this movie, it's due to the fault of your own mind. besides the showing of the red room of pain, the only true SM scene was the belt. that's it.

Hi Sasha! I love your channel and your videos and respect that you don't want stupid angry trolls commenting on your videos. But freedom of speech and opinion goes both ways and as long as they do so respectfully I don't see why people shouldn't say if they disliked the movie/books. Personally I am quite disturbed by 50 shades of grey. I love reading adult romance novels (have you read the awesome books by Nalini Singh? :)) But 50 shades of grey could be used as study matrial on abusive relationships. I think in a fantasy anything goes, so I don't mind if people read/watch it. What I find disconcerting however is that many people don't think there is anything wrong with the depicted relationship. It is very much exactly what defines an abusive relationship. And many women (and men btw) suffer in even this kind of relationship everyday.
@Jessela1988
@Jessela1988 9 лет назад
The whole thing is for entertainment. yes I think Christian grey was mentally master minding abusive man towards Anna but it's entertaining to watch and read that doesn't mean I think there's nothing wrong with it. It's like watching a movie about a mother who abuses her child it doesnt mean i think its okay.but it's still entertainment it's still draws the attention of the viewer or reader.

I completely agree with your disclaimer!! I saw and loved the movie, and I have to say that the book and movie are not understood in the slightest. The book/movie is about 2 consenting ADULTS, taking part in sexy times (different yes, but sexy times nonetheless). Those who are constantly putting the story down, seem to ignore that. The movie was tasteful--as much as it could be-- and funny. Far more tame than I expected it to be.

Hi, Sasha! I've tried to read these books, but I couldn't pass from the first book (some early chapters), I remember it was long time ago, before all the hype. Sincerely, I couldn't stand the writing and the annoying voice of the protagonist. Recently, I went to see the movie (because my sister is a huge fan of the series) and I recognize that it was not a bad movie. The thing is that I don't necessarily think that I need to read the books to like the movie better. My sister insists on that and it really upsets me. I mean why do we have to love it or hate it? Maybe I'm wrong, but it all seems to be that way. All I know is that I'm not going to force myself into reading the book and try to love it. For me, I'm okay with the movie, and that's all. I really liked hearing your opinion. Sorry if my english is not accurate (I'm not a native speaker).

I reckon you should give it a go! It actually gets much better as the story progresses, though if you thought some of the scenes in the movie were too much, then you'd actually find the book a little bit...steep/excessive. But it's obvious to say that people actually enjoyed it :) Take a chance if you want to! x

Ynez Romano In that case, and because of my sister (who tells me exactly the same as you) I considered reading from the second book onwards. However, I don't know if I'm going to do it now. There's so much to read and so little time to do it. We'll see. Oh, the scenes weren't that much for me, I mean, it's sex and it's ok for an adult movie. Maybe someday I'll read the books... who knows? :)

I watched the movie last friday and I really liked it! I'm still reading the book (for the second time because the first time I did not finish it... Ana got on my nerves really quickly!) and I'm not a huge fan of Ana's attitude and way of thinking but I absolutely LOVED Ana in the movie! I mean, Dakota was so perf and I, like Sasha, found myself really laughing out loud with her jokes... That was priceless! Christian was just like meh, yeah he's fine...

It's so nice that a booktuber read and at least kind of enjoyed this book/movie. I'm a ridiculously huge fan of the books but unfortunately didn't like the movie. I think it's cool though that everyone has different opinions and it's cool to see how other people see the movie. For example, I thought Dakota was terrible and that her and Jaimie had no chemistry. That's why it's great that everyone can have their own opinion and hopefully not get hate for it.

You made me to want to watch the movie immediately. I haven't seen it yet even though I read the book, but your honest review of the movie made me to watch it ASAP. I still havent read the book. But I totally understand that its not just about sex. I can already sense it in the first place that there's this point where they'll definitely fall into each other and Christian will change. I badly want to watch this movie,but sadly im 15 and still not allowed in the movie theater, which sucks. And I hate it when these people who thinks youre into porno just because you want to watch this. Like? Hell no! (Im into the love story that is growing. You can sense it towards how Christian looks/care for Anastasia. I have a question Sasha, do you think 15 year olds can watch this film? Base on your movie experience? Thanks! Love you Sasha!

Hey, firstly I love your videos and your channel in general :) but just wanted to say that I just watched your, and Christine's movie review on this and I haven't read the books nor seen them, (although all the controversy around it makes me really want to see this film/ read the book, so I can have my own opinion on it), and I had a quick question, do you think this movie/book promotes abusive relationships? Because I'm on tumblr a lot and most of the reviews say that it does, and how it's teaching our generation that men can treat women badly, however I just wanted to know what you thought, as someone who doesn't absolutely hate the movie....

This is actually my favourite review for this movie. You say it as it is; the movie knew what it was and where it was from (the book), and I feel that it was executed the best way it possibly could've been without over-doing the BDSM thing. I absolutely loved the movie, and i seem to be 1 in a million people that did, but whatever. It turned me on and i think that was the sole intent of the movie and the book.

It's literally the worst book ever published. I can't begin to explain how terrible it is, unless I start quoting it. Brazenyolo I've read both 50 shades and Twilight, I do not see many resemblances in the story, they are to different to be a direct ripoff. This is not a hate comment to you in any way, I just wanted to address the point you made about Anastasia giving consent to Christian to hit her with the belt (I did not read the whole book or watch the movie, I'm just going on what you described about that scene). In Canada where I am from, there is a law that says you cannot give consent to an assault which causes bodily harm, even in BDSM cases. I'm not sure if it is the same in the US, but basically in Canada giving consent to physical assault is not something that will hold up in the courts. So if, hypothetically, Anastasia had decided to take Christian to court for assault and Christian had said "but she asked me to do it", it doesn't matter, Christian would be going off to jail. I just think this is an important thing to acknowledge.This is one of the reasons hardcore BDSM is such a controversial topic. I'm not a fan of 50 Shades but it's definitely brought up a lot of good discussions about rape culture and consent, that's for sure.

Most people are just seeing the film, because they're curious about all the buzz and want to find out for themselves, what 50 Shades Of Grey actually is. I'll admit, I personally hate 50 Shades Of Grey! The movie is about an abusive, dysfunctional etc. relationship etc. But that doesn't mean that people aren't allowed to watch the film. If people are curious about all the buzz and want to find out for themselves, what 50 Shades Of Grey actually is, and so watch the film. That's fine. Hate the movie it's self, everyone has their opinions, that is absolutely fine. But don't hate on and disrespect people just because they watched the film, because that is unfair. (P.S. everyone who saw the film might not have even enjoyed it).

I thought that the acting in the movie was awful. The dialogues did not flow naturally and there was no chemistry between the two. The ending was awful. The movie should have been a summary of the 3 books. my friends and I couldn't take the movie seriously. It looked like they made a parody They did glorify abuse in this film and portrayed the BDSM culture in a wrong way. Another thing that bugs me is the influence of this movie on everyone. I was walking by this fancy suit shop and the mannequin was holding a whip and there was another mannequin on the floor with her eyes closed and hands behind her back. I thought that was a bit too much and slightly brainwashy. And no you are not weird for being not awkward in the cinema. I wasn't awkward at all either.
@nialg202
@nialg202 9 лет назад
Agree on the first two points. However, I don't think anyone can claim abuse or stalking when they are ok with it. My sister went through something similar and being stalked by someone you don't like is a whole other scary experience. Ana was always intrigued and curious. Also, we should be happy that we have freedom of speech. In many countries people are being dictated what they can or can't watch. Now THAT is abuse and manipulation.

Ok, my two cents. Please keep in mind this is just MY opinion. I can see you really did enjoy it and most of the people commenting here. I read and liked the books. The movie... not so much. I went in expecting to like it, regardless the critics slamming it, but, honestly, this was not a good movie. Mildly entertaining perhaps, but it was terribly cheesy and just all over the place tonally. Dakota was great, and her performance really natural, but Jamie Dornan had zilch charisma and I really didn't buy him as a dominant. There was no charm to his portrayal and in the end I was left with the sense that he was more of a traumatized weirdo than an exciting perv. The dialogue was beyond cringe-worthy. At my half full screening, two people actually walked out. There were a few scenes that incited a few chuckles, but most of it elicited a few snorts and giggles in parts that weren't intentionally funny. The end in particular left people dazed and confused, you could see people looking baffled. It was beyond awkward. My BF actually hated it. I disagree that the reason critics have been harsh is that they wanted to see a smutfest. I think the problem is that it was just not very erotic or even romantic for that matter. It was just so tame, safe, no frisson of excitement. I became bored. I never expected that to happen. I really thought I was going to like it. Eroticism doesn't necessarily mean nudity, but they overdid the nudity here (particularly in Dakota's case) to no real pay off. Eroticism has to do with the chemistry between the leads, the dialogue, the setting and atmosphere, and I just didn't feel it here. I do agree that people who have read the books will have the benefit of filling in all the blanks whilst the rest will have trouble making sense of things. Much has been said about how great it is that they killed Anastasia's inner dialogue. I actually feel that this movie would have benefitted tremendously of voice over (ditching all inner goddess references). It would have made the journey more relatable. The books were so successful because it was so easy to relate to Anastasia's thought process, even if the inner goddess drove me batshit nuts.

This film (haven't read the book) isn't pro abuse. Does it accurately portray a BDSM relationship? No. Anna's constant want to change christian creates the impression of BDSM being a substitute for love until the right person comes along, rather than it being a sexual preference. There were some scenes where I felt disturbed as Christian's lack of emotion and the slight consent issue (at times you could sense she didn't want to do the things). But I wouldn't hate on this film

I was a bit disappointed that Jamie wasn't more intimidating in the movie. (I've seen him in The Fall and he just gave me the shivers. He is an awesome serial killer.) I still think that he is a perfect Christian though. Maybe because I've been crushing on Jamie for years now, and I know he can do better! But I agree, the movie really wasn't that bad, and the people boycotting it need to stop and think about what they're doing for a second. It's been several years since I last read the books, and although the writing really wasn't the best, the books weren't THAT bad and I don't remember thinking it supported rape culture at all!! Awesome review!

i found the movies itself as fiction quite entertaining... ... but as a "sadistic dom" i can understand the frustration of the bdsm community very well the main problem being the lack of knowledge on part of the author which caused "mr.6years a slave + >15subs under the age of 30" to have no idea what he was supposed to be doing, that cupled with the enormous popularity was a huge opportunity for education and representation just wasted and then having "mr. supposedly experienced and informed bilionare super dominant" declare his kink an illness himself was just adding insult to injury... as a group... with shovels damn the spanking scene in outlander, despite it being 2 plain vanila people who are both verbaly opposed to the situation and him literally having to break trough her violent oposition to catch and force her over his knee to perform this socioculturally demaded act of domestic abuse, is a better example of a healthy "DS-relationship" than all of 50shades

I'm sorry, while I appreciate your disclaimer in the opening segment, I CANNOT like this movie, and the minute I heard it I knew you would be in favor of it. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but I do believe that it is utterly terrible. It's not supporting rape, seeing as though Anna agrees to do the things that Grey suggests. It does wrongly portray unfathomable stupidy, also seeing as though Anna appears to forget that she agreed by the end of the movie, plus it's just plain creepy. Also the characters were awful, the acting a bit stale, and the dialogue cringeworthy. Plus the plot doesn't make very much sense at all, nor do many of the actions taken by the characters, namely Grey. The cinematography, however, is brilliant, which is probably the only merit I can give it besides the soundtrack. I'm no troll, or a hater, but I SERIOUSLY believe this movie is not very good at all.
