Thanks for this information. I watched this back in the 90's at the Museum of Television and Radio (prompted by my love of the band The Loud Family more than Real Life, which I don't think I understood was based on a real thing when I saw it) and bought a bootleg set as soon as eBay came along. I even have your mom's book and the two others that came out (and will likely get the Emily Nussbaum book coming out soon). I was psyched to just discover that a DVD set came out finally last year, and it's on the way. I'm sure you guys don't share in what meager profits that might bring (presumably none, in any case), but thanks for doing the series and facing America's first unreasonable scrutiny of the first reality TV subjects. This all surely makes me sound obsessed, but I was just fascinated with the (at the time) unusual nature of the program and the window you provided, and wanted to be sure I had a record of it all. I'm sure I speak for most people that watched it when I say I found your family compelling and likeable and real, and took any flaws as one would those of one's own family. You were probably my favorite (perhaps as likewise sardonic musician) and without having seen it in over 25 years, I still remember your lovely rendition of the Beatles in the kitchen for your mom.
This was stupid, they “put on” for the camera. Not one family in my life or in many around me(yes, we’ve discussed this ridiculousness) know any family that acts like these fools. 🤦♀️
