Go Mark ! Save that leafy Planet chum. I'm cheering you and the fig on . Good luck . I'm originally from Croydon, but at 58 you learn that nurture is better than nihilism. It would have been better to have learnt that earlier in my life so I'm wanting to pass on that tip . Cheers.
Another great video full of info . I managed to get 3 ripe figs this summer , I left them a little too long as the wasps beat me to it. Still, it was fascinating to watch them enjoy the fruit. had a bumper year for blueberries, so can't grumble too much and the birds have left them alone :)
Hey Mark, your fig looked pretty healthy to me, it should do well in its new container. I've never protected any of my figs, it's mostly the late frosts in spring we might have to watch out for when they start to wake up, the brebas could get damaged if we get frosts. They definitely do better if you can put them against a wall, a west-facing wall should also work well.
I think it will be fine figs are hardy plants like you I have already be in a large pot and this year had a number of ripe figs for my breakfast the plant is a cutting of a cutting if you know know what I mean which originally came from Geoff Hamilton’s garden back in 1996 a few weeks after he sadly Died.
I have a brown turkey fig which lost its leaves last year and they only just came back but at the base of the plant , the stem of the plant is bare but still alive, what should i do now?
