Has anybody thought about something here. Edward norton's character the narrator which Is his supposed name? Why do you think he used his name? Tyler for Tyler Durden. He fought against his boss, whose name was Tyler. But apparently he is Tyler, but is that his real name? Or is that his fantasy name for his alter Ego? Maybe he came up with the name. Tyler because of his boss. Maybe his true name is Tyler. Tyler Brad Pitt is revealed to be here's alter ego, but is his name actually Tyler, or is it actually something else we don't know. Maybe it's Cornelius, or whatever other names he gave at those other help groups.

“We were all raised to believe we were gonna be Millionaires, Rock Stars, and Movie Gods. And we’re starting to come to the realization that we Won’t. And we are Really Pissed Off.” This is quite possibly the most accurate statement Ever made about Generation X.

@@BintyMcFrazzles The Book was published in 1996. The Movie was released in 1999. Everyone in the movie, with the exception of Meatloaf, was a member of Gen X. And it came out when we were all in our mid to late 20’s and early 30’s, the same age as all the main characters involved in the story. The quote from the movie is obviously in reference to X. “We are the Middle Children of History”, is a direct reference to Gen X. We were the First generation to all have genuine expectations of being Rock Stars, Movie Stars and Millionaires, and the Last generation to really know a world without the Internet. Between The Boomers and the Millennials we have basically been forgotten. And Z, who wasn’t even born at the time, can’t even be bothered to draw a distinction between Us and the Boomers, despite the fact that we have always hated them.

"His name is Robert Paulson!" RIP Meatloaf. I watched a reaction from a dude that went from "This Sucks!" to "You Have My Attention!" and finally "Greatest Movie Of All Time!" much like a three act structure. Fun Fact: Author Chuck Palahniuk first came up with the idea for the novel after being beaten up on a camping trip when he complained to some nearby campers about the noise of their radio. When he returned to work, he was fascinated to find that nobody would mention or acknowledge his injuries. Palahniuk concluded that the reason people reacted this way was because if they asked him what had happened, a degree of personal interaction would be necessary, and his workmates simply didn't care enough to connect with him on a personal level. It was his fascination with this societal 'blocking' which became the foundation for the novel. Author Chuck Palahniuk has stated that he found the film to be an improvement on his novel. Fake Bombs Fact: Tyler Durden was originally going to recite a workable recipe for home-made explosives (as he does in the novel). But in the interest of public safety, the filmmakers decided to substitute fictional recipes for the real ones. Beautiful Mess Fact: During the shooting of the film, Helena Bonham Carter insisted that her makeup artist (Julie Pearce) apply all of her eye makeup with her left hand, because Bonham-Carter felt that Marla was not a person who would be particularly skilled at (or concerned with) correctly applying makeup.

"No glove, no love" "She was saying something about loving a dress intensely for one day and threw it away, as she thought she was talking to her lover who wanted her to leave." Lol I loved when you found out 😂 Tyler is the direct opposite, he is non-conformist, he doesn’t care about social norms, he could care less about society. He takes what he wants whenever he wants. He takes care of himself, doesn’t have a boss doesn’t care about material possessions. This character frees Norton, he isn’t the way he used to be when he was Edward Norton, he just became fearless, he didn’t abide by what rules society put on him like going to work, flying to another meeting dressing the part, having nice materialist things. His mind decides that it’s enough of fulfilling other peoples expectations. So it’s deeper than just guys fist fighting, it’s about how these people don’t have a clear purpose, they are fulfilling other people’s expectations, and about them having no hope. Asking themselves “what if life is pointless?” “What if we are nothing but just “compost” heap? He’s dealing with urges he’s always had but never played them out because he is always worried about judgment and societal outlooks. He exposes a lot of bad things about society while going through his mental health crisis like the consumerism. Like when his apartment blew up and he started talking about his wardrobe and his furniture and Tyler says “we are consumers, we’re byproducts of a lifestyle obsession. Murder, crime, poverty, don’t concern me. What concerns me is people, magazines, and 500 channels. Rogain viagra and olestra.” I can keep going but, there’s a lot of deep shit that gets missed because you’re stuck wondering wtf is going on? 😂😂😂

We are a passionate fan base and I know the first time I watched it I would have thought id gone crazy if I was told it would be my all time favorite movie. That writing and dark humor is everything in it. The speech Tyler gives where he says Were the middle children of history man. Our great War is a spiritual war our great depression is our lives. Its funny because all the red flags are there we see them and you're discomfort is the glorified pervasive way it snowballs into this militant chaotic cult of anti consumerism. The twist and rewatch reveals a lot. The loss of male role models and the social pressures of being expected to succeed and have all the answers in the modern world has led a lot of people in general to feel nothing... purposeless that desire to belong/understand/express/feel is why Tyler's able to create all of this. His personality is everything the narrator wishes he could be confident, strong, charismatic, aware, intelligent, etc. Its more about the way he says things effortlessly while doing radical things ... opposing what's normal. He's the antihero ... I mean the movie itself calls out advertising marketing etc Yet they don't hide the marketing and advertiser branding in the film I'm the end its really supposed to be this coming of age male movie and its ironic that its a buyer beware identity crisis philosophical mindfuckery that mocks itself and all you expected was a stupid boxing club movie....

In the book he actually kills himself at the end. The shot through the cheek is kind of inconsistent because why would Tyler not just have a hole in his cheek. But it leads to a cool shot of him and Marla watching the buildings blow up

Honestly man, while I am not a proponent of harming others or domestic terrorism, I think fighting is important. As a species men are designed to fight. Some men can ignore that part of their DNA or replace it with another type of fight, whether it be in business or in chess, but for some its a primal need. Its why I box.

Watching you experience this bat-shit crazy film in real time was fun. You can't take this movie literally. It will eff your brain up. The book was even better. It's an expose' on the alienation of men in this society; the forgotten ones, the lost ones, the ones with no roots or family. Tyler Durden created that "family", the sense being a part of something bigger, however f**ked up it was. Man, what an original film and book.

On the one hand: fighting *like you mean it* is a rush you just can't get any other way. It's primal; there's no activity more fundamental in our little animal brains, except maybe sex. On the other hand: if you'd like to hold up this movie as Exhibit A in the "White boys are crazy" trial? Can't really argue with you, man. Bless.

why would you do this, you ask? here's why **I** resonated with this movie: I saw Fight Club in my 2nd year of medical school. I wanted to be a doctor since i was 12, but after awhile (and after wowing adults with straight As) EVERYONE wanted me to be a doctor : parents, counselors, teachers, friends, girlfriends. I was on track, but the pressure to succeed was almost as much as the effort to succeed. I would study 7-13 hours/day. Do my homework TWICE to make sure I got a 100% My average math grade for 14 years was like a 98%. But...the cost is that I became numb with effort and drive. Same thing. Every day. I let out a monster I couldnt get back in the cage. Nobody MADE me do this. But I couldnt stop myself. And I felt like I was too committed to turn back. Or stop. Too far to give up. Like Fight Club, i was "DOING WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO DO" and now I cant get off the train (or it felt like that, anyway) One night i got horrible food poisoning and spent the night next to a wastebasket, vomiting every half hour, dry heaving when my stomach was empty. It was miserable and painful. BUT..... I liked it. Feeling pain was better than feeling nothing. I'd rather dry-heave and vomit than return to numbs-ville. I got past it. It was a speedbump in the course of my life. Now i"m more successful and grateful than I thought I could be. The movie Fight Club is now a grim reminder of who I am and the dark, cold price of pushing past my breaking point. How much can you know about yourself if you've never been punched in the face? (or had your brain squeezed by Applied Calculus, Organic Chemistry, and Anatomy tests in the same week..A+ grade mandatory?) You take the punch, grit your teeth, hit back, then ASK for another punch. (walk into another test) Back and forth. Back and forth, until you find out how many you can take before your body quits and your mind wants to. Until you cant get back up. Then you try anyway. And ASK for another punch. SO in Fight Club, These fight club members are ME....they would rather be hit in the face, than face the life and prison they built around themselves. Incarcerated free men. The pain of fight club, makes them feel alive in the deadness that is the rest of their lives. ("Our Great Depression is our lives.") And...they assert a lost control....around OTHER people who understand. "You're not the same person when you're not in fight club" Why would anybody join Tyler Durden? I dont know. I dont know, man. It's dark. I definitely dont talk about it, but i know why **i'd** join him.

"before your body fails and your mind wants you. Until you cant get back up. Then you try anyway." I've done that before. When I was younger I made a bet and had to stick to it. I was just bragging trying to impress my girl but I had no idea she wanted to be a hard body. She wanted them abs and I was like I'd do twice the pushups as your sit ups and ended doing 1000 a day. Good thing there was a build up because around 150-250 or some where around there, it was mind over matter. Arms numb with pain and just the will to keep your word. Get over that little hump then you know you can do it. One of the great things about being young is you don't know what impossible is.
@slchance8839
@slchance8839 Год назад
@@jayeisenhardt1337 huh. Good story. 1000/day?! Jesus, that's impressive. The things we do trying to impress a girl. It's a helluva feeling to EXPERIENCE mind over matter. Until you do it, it's just words "mind over matter," but it changes a person, even a little. I happy for you. I wish more people had a story where they pushed their boundaries. (also, makes you less tolerant of other people's excuses.) Big question: did she get the hard body? I hope so. Everybody wins.

It’s funny people always say they don’t like to fly, but In a plane you’re at the mercy of a pilot and 2 co-pilots. Who are supposed to have thousands and thousands of hours of training and knowledge of the equipment. On the highway you’re at the mercy of every idiot driver.. including myself 🤣, that can answer a few questions and pass a 10-20 min driving test. A test that if they fail they can retake multiple times. The pilot knows their equipment half of us don’t even know what that little blinking light is on our dashboard. I think I’ll just stay home 🤣😂🤣.
